We are flying out of BUF on Saturday Oct 9 (yes it's Thanksgiving weekend) at 3:30pm. How much time should we give ourselves?? I'm thinking we leave around 9:30 - giving us 5 hours - is it enough? I like to give ourselves lots of time but wonder if it's enough?! Aargh! HELP!!

That sounds good.

You will probably have loads of time, but with construction/traffic on the QEW potential busy border, it's better to be safe.

You can check in for your flight, then have lunch somewhere around the Buffalo Airport before your flight.

Long weekend can = long border waits even on a saturday. I would leave as early as possible. I might even think of a hotel the night before just in case.

We're less than 10 min from you on the Mississauga/Oakville border. I totally agree with this post. I totally loathe the backup at the Ford plant these days. I really wish they would clear it up fast. After finally clearing the QEW mess, the traffic is crappy after St. Catherines again and then the border long weekend stuff. Make a vacation of it, leave the day prior and start your Christmas shopping over the border and leave the gifts in the trunk of your car while gone. (Ok, no perishables:eek:)
Have an awesome trip!

Alot of time we drive across Lakeshore to miss all the destruction on the qew through oakville and burlington. Not out of the way for us as we live close to lakeshore lol. Eventually they might be done the qew, and it seems like the St. Catherines construction has been going for 20 years lol. That looks close to being done. Maybe 5 more years hehehe joking I hope. Keep in mind if you plan on taking lakeshore anytime in the near future its under construction from mississagua road in Bronte to almost Burloak. Best to take Rebecca st until Burloak and go down to Lakeshore.

We are flying out on Sat Oct 9th as well but our flight leaves at 1:15pm from Rochester - we are planning on leaving Guelph about 6am which should hopefully get us over the border before all the long weekend shoppers get there. I figure we can always go for brunch/lunch before heading to the airport.

Where are you staying?

So I think we'll leave here about 8/8:30...
We usually take the 407 from here (we're close to Neyagawa) and that cuts out a lot of the Oakville/Burlington highway mess - although we still need to get through St Catherines. That should have us at the border before 10 (if anything delays us) and we'll head straight the airport from there. If we're really early we'll go for a nice lunch and maybe some shopping! But we won't count on that!

BitsnBears we'll be staying at SSR - going with all the inlaws. I'll likely be spotted hiding at many bars across the property...:rotfl:
I booked us all separate rooms so we don't have a repeat of the big trip with my side of the family :scared1:. That's drama I don't want to repeat!

:lmao::rotfl: I'd be hiding right along with you if my IL's were coming withus again - we've discovered we love vacationing just as a family of 4 ;)

We'll be staying at AKLV Jambo SV studio - first time at AKLV - doing Epcot on Sunday, shopping/downtown Disney and Raglan road for dinner on Monday then off to Harry Potter on Tuesday flying home Wednesday. Love these quick vacations!!!

We give ourselves 5 hrs & we are just outside Hamilton & travelling next weekend. We get on the QEW at Centennial in Stoney Creek. If I were doing Thanksgiving weekend, I would stay over just to be safe.

I'm in Burlington right near Hamilton border and i would leave on a holiday weekend maybe 6 hours before. As you drive right around Jordan there is that 1800 number that gives you the bridge conditions. That's always helpful
