What time should I get to Universal for HHN if I do not have Stay and Scream passes?

My boyfriend and I are staying at Coronado Springs in Disney October 1st through the 5th. We're planning on going to Universal just for HHN since we were just there for 4 days in May and want to spend most of our time in Disney. I was just wondering what time you suggest getting a cab and heading over to Universal for HHN? We're on the deluxe dining plan and have been trying to figure out the timing for all of our ADRs. Thanks so much!

You can't use a Stay and Scream ticket for admission prior to the HHN event, if you are not in the park already. To use the Stay and Scream option, you need to have a valid US park ticket for that day, and would need to be in the studios side by 4:30 pm.

By 5:00 pm they start clearing the park out and directing those with Stay and Scream tickets to the holding areas where they will scan your Stay and Scream ticket.

Oh gosh, I made a mistake! We do NOT have stay and scream passes and just have regular passes for HHN.

Thank you though!

Yeah...that's a shame but if you get to the gates by 4:30 and start lining up, you should get in the park fairly quickly.

You can start lining up at the gates around 4:30-5:00 pm. They will have metal detectors set up which you will need to go through before getting to the turnstiles. They usually open up the park to guests for HHN at around 6:30 pm.

The lines at the metal detectors can get long, so the sooner you are in line the better.

So I am a little bit confused, if I make it to the park by 4:30 and go through the metal detectors will I enter a closed off area of the park where I will be able to eat or something while we wait? Or will we be waiting at the gates in line until 6:30?

The line for HHN patrons w/o the S & S passes usually starts forming between 4:30 and 5:00pm outside main gates. Once you're in that line, you would be wise not to leave it as the lines grows very quickly. You're basically just waiting to get into the Studios...nothing more. But...if you arrive late, you'll spend your evening outside and won't have a chance to do much.

I would recommend buying express passes for the night your going since your getting a late start.Cause by the time you do get in the houses can be up to a hour long and growing..

That's an excellent point! :thumbsup2

if you go on a non peak night, the event closes at midnight.
that would be a very short might for you if you go then and don't get in line early.
the express passes would be a must those nights you get into the park late.

peak nights the event closes at 2:00 a.m.

As Metro said, the line at the main gates (which is where the metal detectors will be) starts forming around 4:30-5:00 pm. You will need to wait there until they clear the park of daytime guests. Once that is done, they will let you through the metal detectors to the turnstiles.

We are visiting Universal the day of a HHN....I bought the "unlimited" or what ever it's called that allows us to visit more than once during our stay. Since we are in the park the same day that we are doing the HHN do we have to leave the park and come back in to use these passes?

We also plan to use the same passes on another night that we are not at universal if we have time...I just thought this would give us the most flexibility.

No, that is the entire premise behind Stay and Scream.

If you mean the unlimited whatever to be a 7-day 2 park pass that is good any day If you mean a Frequent Fear Pass that is good for selected nights. Combine them both together and you have Stay and Scream. :dance3:

Its been a couple of years since I have been to HHN. Are the holding areas still over by twister?:)

Yeah we have the frequent fear pass. The week we are there we can go on a Sunday and a Thursday using this pass. The thursday that we will also be visiting universal studios...So I guess that means, that day it's the same as if we had a stay and scream and a park pass for one day? So we shouldn't have to leave the park correct?

No they haven't been using that area for a couple years ... I believe there is more than one area (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) - the one we've used in previous years is Finnegan's/Delancey Street.

You are correct - you would just need to get to one of the holding areas by 5:00 pm

Last year there were holding areas on Delancey Street by Finnegan's and over by E.T. The Boneyard hasn't been used since 2007 when construction started on the new coaster.
