I have been calling and check online relentlessly this week and have not found a single cancellation yet. The CM I spoke with today was a bit discouraging and basically implied I should be happy with what I have and let it go. :sad1: I was pretty embarassed because Im guessing he could see that I have called every day this week!! I hate to be annoying, but I really want a character meal!!!!

Why don't you just look online - do it multiple times a day if you want - that's a lot easier than calling.

I check every hr or two until I get what I wanted for several days or a week and usually find it. And there is no way the CM can see how many times you call. Because if I don't get a CM that seem to know what I am talking about or asking about...I thank them for their time and call right back, speak to another. I have no shame and what the heck....they don't know my face. :lmao: And sometimes it took several calls! But now so much easier just checking on line.

I have gotten last minute res. for Ohana, Fantasmic even Le Cellier doing peak times...the week around and after Christmas!

I haven't been able to tell if cancellations are added as they occur, or if the system holds them and offers them up the next morning.

Are you on the dining plan? There is a character meal at the Garden Grove at the Swan - character buffet nightly and character breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. On Sundays they have four characters (Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale) at all other meals they have two (Timon and Rafiki on Mondays and Fridays, all other times it's Goofy and Pluto.) It's easier to get into because they don't take the dining plan and it's not on Disney's property so Disney doesn't plug it a lot.

It might be better than no character meal at all. But you'd have to be OK with paying OOP if you're on the plan. If it helps, DVC and AAA members get discounts at the Swolphin restaurants, and restaurant.com coupons are available for Garden Grove (read the fine print before you buy one)

It's been my experience that when I've canceled a reservation it shows up relatively soon after.

As other PPs have said, it's much easier and faster to check online. And if you are relativley new to it, play around with it, there are different ways of checking. For instance, rather than checking a particular restaurant you can put in the date and time you want and select 'Character Dining' under the 'Cuisine or Dining Experience' option. It returns all of the character restaurants that have availability. I'm sure you can get a character meal, it just may not be Chef Mickey.

Thats what Im wondering.....I have checked every few hours, all week, seriously, and not one new ressie has popped up.

What makes me sad is Im sure there are lots of ressies that people wont keep, but they just dont think to cancel them.

Back to work :surfweb:

Thats exactly what Ive been doing ALL week, but nothing...except the one at Disney Studios (but we arent going to that park) :sad1:

The availability has been exactly the same all week....so I was wondering if I was doing something wrong. :confused3

Nope, we arent on the DP. Interesting, there is dinner available Friday night!!...but from your post, Goofy and Pluto wont be there Fri night, is that right? My daugther doesnt know who Timon and Rafiki are yet. ;)

I have had good luck finding reservations at around 6am or so. In fact, just this past week I was able to get a La Hacienda reservation for 8:30pm. I had been checking and checking and it finally came up!

The best advice is to check every day and not give up.:)

Don't give up! keep checking online! We planned a last minute halloween trip and I have gotten everything I wanted including crt!! It's possible!!
