what time is the sailaway party and how long does it last?

If you have the 5:30 dinner, would you miss the sail away party?

The sail-away party starts around 5:00 and we had 5:30 seating so we were only able to see about 10-15 minutes before we had to go to the room and change. Looking back I guess we should have changed prior to the sail-away but somehow it would not seem as much fun if we were all dressed up. Personally I prefer 'vacation wear' and a tropical beverage at the sail-away to get me in the vacation mood.

The sail away party consists mostly of a bunch of CMs yelling "Somebody scream!!" over and over again on the mic. If you have to cut out early to get ready for dinner, it might be a relief.

We had early seating and still made it to the sail away party. The best part is early on anyway, so even if you have to cut out you didn't really miss anything.

I wonder if there was a delay on your last cruise, Becka. It has started right after the life boat drill for us around 4:30. It ran 45 minutes with all the line dancing & the character show. The kids LOVE it! We wear our Santa hats (since we cruise in December) and the kids have their Mickey gloves. They got a kick out of the characters giving them high 5s during the show (like to be right at the railing to see everything). After the characters left we went up to deck 10 to wave at the CMs outside the terminal...also wearing the Mickey gloves. We stayed up there until we were out of the channel and even saw dolphins going alongside the ship.

if you go to www.castawayclub.com it shows the navigators and all kinds of great info! It says it starts at 4:30...it is a blast and I would not miss!!! I can't help but think of cha cha slide!

lindakmonty, I would love to see all of your pics!! I saw one from a sailaway party and a few wedding ones, and they look great. Would love to see more!!

There is no time for autographs at the sailaway though you can snap some pictures.

DH and I are very, very old kids but we wear our Mickey gloves too! We love the sailaway party. Although the party starts at 4:30 you might miss the actually sail out of the channel if you have the 5:30 dining. On the 2004 10 day we left port late as there was someone ill that was taken off the ship on a stretcher. We had early dining and had to leave before the ship sailed. We were sad to miss standing on the deck watching for dolphins, but we were more sad for the person that would not be sailing with us. Generally, though the ship is underway at 5.

What time does the ship actually "sail away"? 5pm? I envision lots of confetti,streamers and the disney horn!!

Yes, it is usually around 5 pm.

Oh, so there is really no interaction with the characters and kids? More of a stage performance thing? Where can I get the Mickey Gloves?

We found ours on Ebay for little to nothing. I think S/H were more than the gloves.
