Oh Mike, :sad2: Hang in there. Are you and Heather ok? Will you need to be evacuated?

5:11pm Picture perfect San Diego day. Bright sun. 70 degrees. Clear skies. :sunny:

Hi Kar.

Thankfully no. The fire is pretty far from where we live. The fire is moving away from the city and deeper into the forest. No homes or any structures are threatened at this time thankfully. Winds were really bad last night. We had gusts as high as 55 mph last night. Not good for the firefighters. Supposed to be windy yet again today. I'm beginning to think the winds are never going to leave us this year. I think I can only recall one or 2 days this year without the wind. :sad2:

8:10 am and it's actually a little cooler here today. Currently 56 degrees.

So glad to hear you're safe from the fires! In addition to the fires burning in Eastern Arizona near the New Mexico border, we now have a large area burning about 75 miles southeast of Tucson, near the town of Sierra Vista. Over 40 homes have been lost and thousands of people have been evacuated.

Yesterday we had high winds that only made things worse. It's really scary how fast these fires can travel. Southern Arizona is extremely dry and there is so rain in the forecast.:sad2:

Coronado National Forest was closed to the public earlier this month because of the extremely high risk of fire. It is a popular tourist destination and one that we visit frequently. It is only a thirty minute drive from our house, and such a beautiful area with stunning views, a canyon, hiking trails, swimming holes, and areas for camping, grilling and picnicing.

It is 7:30 and sunny, 72 degrees going for a high of 100 this afternoon. Praying the fires will be contained soon.

I hear ya. We are extremely dry here as well. Some areas of our state are in a exceptional drought. Which is as high as you can go on the drought levels. DW and I are like you. The area we like to go to on picnics and such is now closed as well, due to the fire. I hope the fire doesn't destroy the picnic areas. I think it's pretty far away from them, but no telling when it can change directions. One of our more popular destinations (Carlsbad Caverns) was also closed last week due to fire over there. I don't know if they've reopened it yet or not. Fortunately 2 of 3 bigger fires going on now have moved away from residential areas. The one that just crossed over from AZ, people had to evacuate from there. I thought we were supposed to have an early monsoon season. :confused3 I'm hoping for a monsoon season period. The way things have been looking around here, even starting to doubt we will have one.

10:48 am and we're up to 63 degrees. Only supposed to be in the 70's today.

Today is the first relatively sunny day in five weeks.

Right now it's 55 at 11:00 am, and it's been cloudy, rainy and not summer-like at all. The high today is 73... although I don't think it'll get that high.

I'm sick and tired of this weather, and I'm ready for summer!

It's 3:34p and 81 degrees, so so nice out I love it!

Stay safe Thumper/Mike! Sure hope you and Luvflorida get some rain soon!

Thanks Sue. I think we'll be safe. As I stated, the fire is moving away from the city. I hope we get some much needed rain as well. This is driest I have seen it in years here.

Another nice one!! It's 2:55p and 82 degrees, I wish they were all like this WARM and SUNNY!

Glad to hear it! Here's wish it rains for you all!

Well-that was tornado warning number 2 today-actually went down to the basement for that since they said it was going right over our town--not a leaf has fallen, no winds, nothing. :confused3 It's heading into St. Paul now--the National Weather Service site was down through most of this so no sirens went off for the first one, went off for the second. Looks like a pattern we will be in most of the evening-oh fun.

Yikes! :scared1: Scary. Stay safe golfgal. Hope all turns out well for you and the tornadoes skip our area.

Nothing has changed here. Fires are still burning, though some are finally dwindling down it looks like. Fire close to us here is still going strong. As of the last report, still 0% contained. Fire towards the North near the NM/CO border is 90% contained. The 2 fires in AZ are slowly getting there as well it looks like. The Wallow fire (AZ & NM) is 56% contained, and the Horseshoe 2 fire is 90% contained. Still windy and getting hot. No rain in the immediate forecast.

2:20 pm and it's currently 79 degrees.

It's 9:12a and 67 degrees, cloudy today so far.....Mike they say its going to rain here later and tomorrow. Sure wish I could send some your way too.

:thumbsup2 Glad to hear New England is getting some nice weather!!:yay: I hope the sun and warm temps stick around for awhile!

6:30am- the sun is shining brightly and it's 72 degrees. The forecasted high today....110!

The good news is that the fires are slowly being contained. The fire closest to us is now almost 50% contained, and the winds died down yesterday.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Hope everyone has a wonderful day and stays safe from fires, tornadoes and anything else that Mother Nature throws our way!:headache:

ETA: nhpooh- just read your post about rain today and tomorrow. Hope the sun returns soon!

Good Morning!
Rain & thunderstorms.

Hope everyone stays safe with all the warnings:grouphug:

:sad2:Sorry Mike it's raining!

It's 1:32p and 71 degrees with light rain falling.

:sad2:Sorry Mike it's raining!

Don't be sorry Sue. Unfortunately the weather is one thing beyond our control. Earliest predictions for rain for us is mid-July now. First they had said an early monsoon season in early June. Now they're saying won't start until mid-July. :sad2:

1:13 pm and it's getting even hotter by the days. Currently 84 degrees. Should be at 90 by the end of the day. Bright and sunny. At least the winds have calmed down today. That should help the firefighters.

It's 1:48p and only 63 degrees, drizzle all day so far.

It's snowing here. Well not really, but looks like it is. Another new fire close to our neck of the woods. This one to the mountains to the NW of us. The one to the mountains to the NE of us is still burning as well. With all the ash falling around us between the 2 fires now, it looks like its snowing. 2nd fire is around the same area as our famous fire, about 10 years ago. Still no rain in sight. Still hot, dry and more importantly, WINDY. I have a feeling we'll be seeing these winds year round.

8:05 am. Winds are calm for now but supposed to crank up towards the evening. 69 and smokey.

Wow! That's just crazy......

It's 10:29a and 75 degrees here. This weekend was a mix, Sat was cool and damp and Sunday was warm, cloudy and humid...

Here's a few photos of what it looks like at the moment.

I took this one while I was waiting for the train to come, so I could go home. This is the first fire (aka: Pacheco Canyon Fire). This is when it pretty much first started.

Same fire, next day.

This picture was taken from my backyard. This is the 2nd fire that started yesterday (aka: Las Conchas Fire). This fire is closer to our house than the PC Fire. About 20 miles from where we live.

This is the LC Fire from my office window. Looks like it would rain, but the winds have already picked up spreading the smoke. It's actually supposed to be a clear sunny day today.
