Take a few minutes and watch this video of a large waves that we saw when we lived in Newport Beach. The waves will amaze you. No one told us to stay home. The beaches were packed with observers, very few went in unless you were an amazing surfer.

Who ever did the video needed to put the song "Wipe Out" in the background. I don't think I saw one person who made it all the way. :lmao:

It's still windy here :headache:. They died down a bit yesterday and today, but they managed to stick around. Supposed to be pick up even more tomorrow on into Thursday. Almost a week straight of nothing but wind. :sad2:

1:50 pm and it's currently 58.

:lmao: on "Wipe Out!!!!
AND those were the "seasoned" surfers. My two DS' would NOT even attempt it and they are both really good. That was an intense weekend with those waves. One person was actually picked up and thrown against the jetty you see on the left and was killed that day. Very sad.
But the reason I am posting that is to show you that SoCal can have some intense days of amazing waves slamming the coast and the News is not giving us a "tsunami warning/advisory".

Ok, bright sun in San Diego. Lovely day. 65 degrees @10:07am :sunny:

See you all in about one week.

I hope you're enjoying the sun, sand and lots of warm temps!!:cool1:

St. Paddy's Day is HUGE in my family … my maiden name = O'Connor and my Mom's maiden name = O'Brien …. so I have my GREEN all ready to wear on Thursday and P.A.R.T.Y.!!!!!!!!

I watched the video you posted of the waves on Newport Beach.:scared1: Those are huge waves!!

Another Irish family here! I come from a family of McCrory's and McGrath's on my father's side, and from Fitzgerald's on my mother's side. My dad grew up in South Boston. He was quite the character, very, very funny, and had a heart of gold. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 80. He is very much missed.:sad2:

Growing up, my brothers and I got such a kick out of the stories he would tell about growing up in South Boston. He would always refer to Scollay Square whenever he saw someone that looked a little...how should I say...scantily clad or suggestive.:rotfl:

My younger daughter's boyfriend, Conner, is also from an Irish family. St. Patrick's Day always falls during spring break here, so for the past couple of years, they have spent the week at his family's home in Colorado. His mother is an Irish Stepdancer and Conner plays the bagpipes. St. Patrick's Day is huge for their family and they spend the evening performing at local pubs. They wear all the authentic gear, and his grandparents join in the festivities.:)

I agree, "Wipe Out" would be a very appropriate song choice!

My younger daughter was in your neck of the woods this past weekend. She's a college junior and teaches dance part-time at a local studio, and choreographs for their competition teams. The studio attended a competition in Albuquerque on Saturday and Sunday. I was a nervous wreck because she drove up and back. It's about a seven hour drive from here, and she's never driven that far before. She had a couple of girls with her, and it's mostly interstate, but I couldn't wait to get the call from her saying she had arrived safely. Thankfully, she did fine both ways!!

Oh yeah...the weather...:rotfl: Tucson has been gorgeous all week, sunny and mid-80s!:cool1:

As intense as those waves were, I'm not surprised at all. I was wondering if anyone got hurt the way everyone was just being tossed around. Sad indeed.

On a lighter note, less than a month to go before we're in your neck of the woods. :dance3: Now Heather is starting to show her excitement. It's been really busy here at work, so we're ready for vacation.

How did she like my neck of the woods? Poor thing probably had to deal with the wind we've been having. If not, she got lucky and came on a good day then. Glad to see she made it fine both ways. Now you can ask her how it was for when you come in October. Forgot to ask if you were successful in finding a hotel.

As far as the weather, still windy. Supposed to be really warm today though. Finally start getting up into the 70's. :woohoo:

9:00 am and its currently 45.

Yeah, we'll be driving the same route in October.:) The dance competition was at the Albuquerque Convention Center and most of the studio's dancers, teachers and parents stayed at the Plaza Inn, which my daughter said was very near the convention center. A group of the teachers went out to eat Saturday night. I'll have to ask her where they went. I know she didn't really see much beyond those two places, but she had a great time.:)

I haven't yet booked our hotel for October. Guess I better do that! We'll probably go with one of the Marriott properties that you mentioned.

10:10am and 77 degrees in Tucson. Beautiful sunny day!

It's 1:13 pm and the temperature is 54 degrees. A heat wave here in Ohio! Nice to see the sun for a change!

Mike, I am glad you are both getting so excited for San Diego!!! I just love the Spring in SD!!! :sunny:

A lovely day in San Diego. Sunny and 65 degrees. Will warm up. 10:19am

Yesterday it hit a high of 77 degrees! Sadly today it is only 54 but at least it is wonderfully sunny at 2:10pm

Ok. I'm really getting tired of all this wind lately. So much dust flying around. No rain what so ever either, to help settle the dirt. Seems we're back in drought conditions again.

9:30 am and it's currently 50 degrees, and (you guessed it) winds are supposed to kick up again in the afternoon. :headache:

Good Morning Weather DISer's!!!

While we had INTENSE winds and POURING rain last night … we wake up to a lovely day! It is partly cloudy and partly sunny! I will take pouring rain every night as long as its sunny during the day …

50 degrees. :cold:

9:42am in San Diego.

Down south from you, downtown, it's pouring on and off still! Same temp, though, I think. 10:30 AM.

Hiya, kate!!! Ya, I am in North County and it appears the sun is trying hard to come out!!! :goodvibes At least the rain is goneeeee. Ugh. My son is in La Jolla, wow, he called last night and said it was sooooooo windy and the rain ……

I am cold today, though … :sad2:

It actually rained here yesterday evening! I ran around the house opening windows so I could hear the pitter-patter of the raindrops. It was an exciting event.

Yesterday was a rare day here...overcast and a bit chilly. The sun didn't even peek out.

It is now 8:10am, beautiful sunshine and 68 degrees.:cool1:

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!! And no more rain for everyone getting too much of it!!

Beauty here today, luv!!! :thumbsup2

Bright sun, a bit coolish at this hour … 50 degrees … but will warm up.

Feel so badly for my east coast families, it is continuing to snow and one of my friends in Northern NH received 10 inches of snow yesterday. My Dsis in ME received 3 inches of snow … ugh. :sad2:

8:18am in San Diego! :sunny:

 BTW, I see your name is Karen. My name is Sharon.:)

I know! Living here where the weather is beautiful year-round, it's easy to forget that family and friends back east are still dealing with miserable weather.:sad2:

What happened to Spring? :confused3 We're going backwards instead of forward. We actually had a trace of snow on the ground this morning and it got cold. Still windy as heck also.

12:35 pm. 41 degrees with the wind chill making it feel like 32.

Same here! Although I wasn't here for spring weather last week, but come on it's SPRING!

Had a great time on vacation, the weather was great. 80's every day and sunny, just the way I like it.

It's 2:50p and 40 degrees and CLOUDY:confused3
