Now for the weather report.

Slight chances for rain today and even slighter chances for snow tonight. Translation: no rain, no snow for us, East and Northern states will get hammered.

Saying it's going to be windy again today. After such a lovely weekend. This I don't doubt. They've been pretty accurate on this forecast. :sad2:

Someone stole the sun from us. Cloudy here today. 41 degrees at 8:44 am.

A little past 8 in the morning and already 69 degrees. We've, also, had a little bit of much needed rain this morning. Fingers crossed that we get some more.

Kar Thank yo for the Birthday wish. I'm so glad you had a fabulous time in Disneyland.... only time I was there was July 1978, I was 14 lol.

The weather here, right now, it's really dark. Been rather aggravated by my darling 21 y/o son that decided to hit me with **carp** at 12:30am. Still sitting and stewing. Anyone want to buy a handsome, nice, lovely but very aggravating 21 yo?? I'll sell him REALLY cheap. Pain in the Aunt Fanny he is. Oh and by the way 34 lovely degrees and raining. Any takers???

No thanks, Anna. I have a 22 yo daughter, she's good and I think that's because she is never around. If she was I don't think it would be as good as it is now. Good luck!

It's 10:01a and 36 degrees, and very cloudy.

Hmm. Decisions, Decisions. :scratchin Heather and I thought about going back to the World next year. Now we'll have to ponder on this idea.

10:46 am and it's currently 48 degrees. A little windy at the moment, but they're supposed to die down by the afternoon. Beautiful sunny day today.

It's 9:05a and 40 degrees, going to hit 50 today. Now only if the sun was out, oh well I leave tomorrow morning for vacation so it's ok! See you all in about one week.

Have fun in Cozumel Sue. If you get a chance, you'll have to let us know how wonderful the weather is over there.

Kar, are you under the tsunami warning there as well? Hope you're safe.

As far as the weather here in the Land of the Enchantment, it's a beautiful morning. A little cool, but no where freezing. Supposed to warm up into the 60's today. Now if only the wind would die down. They're calm at the moment, but supposed to kick up later in the day.

8:12 am and it's 39. Wind chill making it feel like 32. Feels like the 39 outside though.

Yes, omg, we woke up at 7am to family and friends from the East coast calling us about the Tsunami warning. This is so scary. My son lives in La Jolla very close to the beach.

Brett and I were watching the 10:00pm local news last night when they interrupted with the quake/tsunami in Japan. We stayed up until almost 1am watching it. So sad.

It's 2:15p and 50 degrees with light drizzle. Oh, I so can't wait for the sun and sand!!!!!!!!!!!

Kar.

Are you still around? You and/or your family didn't get swept out to see did ya? Hope the tsunami didn't affect you too badly.

Windy here yesterday. Not supposed to be as windy today. I hate the wind. Dying from my allergies.

Starting off kinda cloudy today. Supposed to warm up pretty nicely.

9:13 am and it's currently 35.

Mike, what a p.i.t.a. all that was, seriously. I really wished the News had not said the word 'tsunami' because it made sooooo many of us San Diegans so upset and nervous … as it amounted to nothing. BUT at the same time, I want to add, we have had 'SWELLS" aka storms come up from Mexico and bring large waves … we have actually seen 8 & 9 foot waves and gone to the beach to see them … while this was to be 1 & 2 foot waves … :confused3 The media starts to panic which panics all of us … :headache:

SWELL, in the context of an ocean, sea or lake, is a formation of long-wavelength surface waves. Swells are far more stable in their direction and frequency than normal wind waves, having often travelled long distances since their formation by tropical storms or other wind systems.
Swells are often created by storms thousands of nautical miles away from the beach where they break. This distance allows the waves comprising the swells to become more stable, clean, and free of chop as they travel toward the coast. Waves generated by storm winds have the same speed and will group together and travel with each other, while others moving at even a fraction of a metre per second slower will lag behind, ultimately arriving many minutes later due to the distance covered.
Information on swell size and period is useful for surfers, as swells are generally more desirable to surf on than normal, locally-generated waves and chop. Swell size is typically the average height of the largest 33% of waves in a set, measured from the highest point of a wave (crest) to the lowest point (trough). Swell size is also known as the significant wave height and it is the cube of the significant wave height that typically is used as the important component of the equation to calculate how much energy that wave has to erode a coastline. Period is the average length of time between each wave in a set. The significant period is the average period between the third largest waves in a wave record.
Since swell-generated waves are mixed with normal sea waves, they can be difficult to detect with the naked eye (particularly away from the shore) if they are not significantly larger than the normal waves. From a signal analysis point of view, swells can be thought of as a fairly regular (though not continual) wave signal existing in the midst of strong noise (i.e., normal waves and chop).
Swells were used by Polynesian navigators to maintain course when no other clues were available, such as on foggy nights.

Take a few minutes and watch this video of a large waves that we saw when we lived in Newport Beach. The waves will amaze you. No one told us to stay home. The beaches were packed with observers, very few went in unless you were an amazing surfer.

Ok, today, San Diego, bright sun. 8:25am and 50 degrees. :sunny:

Well I missed you guys. I've been on the sidelines since my birthday, going here there and everywhere. St Patrick's day is a big deal in my family and I've celebrated a few different times already lol. Thanks for the birthday wishes, by the by. I am glad to see everyone is safe after such destruction.

As for the crappy weather here. Overcast.... yet again and it is only 44. After the great weekend we had it feels cold.
