Thanks, Sue, we will have fun. Have not been there since April. :sad2: We just got really busy settling into SD and then our block hit on 6/27 ... so now it is lifted and we are going and meeting friends there!!!

WDW ... I want to go there sooooooo bad. Missed an opportunity in August due to my trip east BUT sheesh its been since 2006 ... :sad1:

Ooh. Ooh. Can I go to? Please take me with you? J/K. We have the world coming up in 48 days. Have fun at DL. Hope the weather continues cooperating with you.

10:40am and it's 76 degrees. No chances for rain today. Supposed to be even hotter today. Thought it was supposed to start cooling down? :confused3

Have fun! We sometimes forget that we are only a seven hour drive from Disneyland. I told my husband that we need to get over there!

Still hard to get away from "East Coast thinking". We were searching online the other day for tickets to an Arizona Cardinals game this fall. My husband started to say something about getting tickets earlier in the fall rather than later, because he didn't want to be sitting at a game in the cold weather. Then of course, it hit him. We're talking Phoenix, no need to worry about fall or winter temps setting in.:rotfl:

You are so close to heading back East! We were there in May, but I'm already missing the grass and trees! I've been spending a lot of time researching summer cottages in the Ocean Park, OOB, Pine Point area for next summer. We plan on going back for the month of July.:) Our grandson is in love with trains, and we can't wait to take him to Boston on the Downeaster!

Oh, I almost forgot- 100s and sunny today. What else is new! :) Arizona weathermen must have one of the easiest jobs in the universe.

We've been planning this for over a year now. It seems like it's taking forever to get here. Especially now that we're getting so close. Just waiting for time to pass by now. popcorn::

11:47a. We're up to 80.

luv, umm, on the grass ... from what my fam is saying most of it is brown and straw like ... :headache: They have had VERY LITTLE rain all summer.

Also, as far as back east thinking ... we still cannot get over how awesome it is to take in a San Diego PADRES game ... compared to the OUTRAGEOUS prices of the SOX of which securing tickets was almost unheard of unless you were a season ticket holder and then there is the cost ... :headache: Padres have been in FIRST PLACE all season. We are just thrilled to be able to jump on the Coaster and go to the games ... THIRD BASE LINE $40.00each ... amazing!!! :yay:

Ok now about the DOWNEASTER ... my DH (Brett) did all of the engineering design and headed all the construction of the Downeaster even weighing in on the naming of it!!! :thumbsup2 Gosh, that was over 10 years ago! He lived in Wells (Drakes Island) at M&D's house while all this was going on (the boys and I were in MA)!!! It is an awesome train and we now understand it is in the works to expand beyond PORTLAND. AND can you believe I have yet to ride it. :sad2:

After the construction phase was well in the works his engineering co sent him to NYC for 5 years!!!

Now we are here in San Diego as he is the Chief of Rail Operations for all of SD County. So we get to ride all the rails, Coaster/Sprinter/Amtrak for FREE!!

Yes, we are excited about going home but I just hope I can see everyone I want in the time we are there ... then we are off to Wash DC for a rail conference for Brett for 4 days.

And no way ever am I returning to those New England winters ... no way, nope! I had my fill. I hate being cold. Done done done with that completely. :headache:

A BEAUTY today in SD. 4:12pm and 82 bright sunny degrees. :sunny:

Hey...I remember "talking" to you a few years back about this! I just didn't remember it was you! I had posted something about the Downeaster (perhaps about my younger daughter) and I remember you posting about your husband. By the way, when your husband retires, my grandson would like his job.:rotfl:

My younger daughter used to do some community and summerstock theatre and she auditioned for a Downeaster commercial. She got the part and spent an entire day of filming on the train. It was before train service opened to the public.

Since she was only 11 at the time, I went with her. We rode the train back and forth all day between Portland, ME and Concord, NH. It was pretty neat to see the filming process first-hand. There were maybe ten people in the commercial. If I'm remembering correctly, the commercial was filmed in the fall of 2001, and was the first Downeaster commercial to be filmed and shown on television.

I've ridden the Downeaster many times, usually from the Wells, ME station to Boston. You're right, they're extending rail service to Brunswick. It's a fun way to get to Boston, especially since I HATE driving in and around that city!:scared1:

Oh, I hear ya about the cold. As much as we dislike the summers here in Tucson, we'll take them over the Maine winters.

Had a nice weekend, first half was sunny and warm second rained all day.

It's 10:03a and 62 degrees still raining out, but that's ok I am working!

It's 10:45a and 66 degrees, a little warmer then yesterday! I AM COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

It poured at my house yesterday. Finally got some decent amount of rain. Supposed to be nice and cool all day today. More chances of pouring rain again today, then back to scattered showers later on in the week.

8:54a and its a nice cool 64 degrees. Clouds are already moving in again.

SoCAL is having a heat wave!!! It is going to be 90's+ on the coast through Friday!!!

9:34am in SD, 76 degrees. Bright sun. :sunny:

It's 8:37a and 62 degrees, and yes it's still raining!

They say starting tomorrow it will get better, and by this weekend mid to high 80's. Lets hope there right!!

NY - 66 degrees and raining and miserable at 8:50AM

It's overcast and 68 degrees here on dreary Long Island but the weather looks like it is going to turn for the rest of the week!

NHPooh, the New Hampshire Gods were good to us until Sunday when it started to rain. Had to put our trailer to bed in the rain. Did I mention I have a Pop-up camper LOL. NH really is God's country. I can't wait to live there.
