We definitely want to make rope drop on our MK day. What is the latest reservation at CP that you would consider to allow you time to finish eating, see the characters and make rope drop? Or, am I absolutely crazy to consider a character breakfast before hitting the park at rope drop? My kids are 5 and 7.

Even with an 8:05am ressie, I don't think there is any way we would have made it back to the entrance for rope drop. We wanted to be able to enjoy the characters and it took nearly an hour to eat and see them and settle the tab. Additionally, I can't recall if we would have been allowed to work our way back down Main Street or not. I think when we got outside (right around the time they released us into the park) they were holding CP patrons just in front of the restaurant. I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in, but this is what I recall.

FWIW, I don't think I'd trade the early quiet entrance to the MK that an early CP ADR affords you for the actual RD show. ;) With our small kids, their patience would have worn thin, and they really wouldn't see much. :confused3

So what reservation times do you recommend where you will be able to head to your first attraction before or at least the same time as those at RD? You say they were holding patrons in front of the restaraunt......what time do they release them....when the rope drops and if so, do those people at CP have a head start on everyone else? (Or if you ate early at CRT, or any other restaraunt for that matter?) I also wonder how it works in Epcot at Akershus if you eat there before RD...I know that the World Showcase doesn't open in the morning, so if you have an 8:05 ressie at Akershus will you have time to walk to future world and get in line before those who are at the RD or are you at a disadvantage? We are staying off property and therefore don't have EMH, so I was thinking an 8:00-8:15 ressie in any park would be advantageous for us if it puts you in line before those waiting outside at the RD. Am I wrong in this thinking?

There is a second rope at the entrance to Fantasyland where they hold the guests that were in early. If you are at the rope before it opens you are a bit ahead of the crowd.

As for CP if you want to see all the characters even with an 8:05 we have not made it to the rope before opening. This is with paying the check as soon as we sit down. Now if you don't care about seeing all the characters no problem.

We had an 8:15 two weeks ago at CRT arrived at 8:10 were seated immediately and were out by 8:50 and saw all but one of the princesses but we find CRT to move much faster than CP because you are not up and down getting food at the buffet.

In May we had an 8:05 at CP and were not out until 9:15, but we had to wait for Pooh for a little while. If you trying to make just entry at RD into the park I would take care of the check as soon as possible so you have a better chance of making it.

As a PP mentioned I don't see anyway to get back to the main park rope to see the train station show.

I would have to agree with the prior post, we've tried paying the check immediately after being seated and telling them that we're trying to be out by rd time but we got caught up in seeing the characters. Before we knew it we were just rushing to get out the door and that wasn't any fun. If you don't mind missing a bit of it I think it would be okay, otherwise I might try to give it a morning just for the RD. Good luck deciding!

There just isn't one. There is no way to make RD witheven the first ressie of the day. They just move too slow. I would expect to be out about 9:15-9:30 at he earliest with an 8:05 ressie.

For the most part, if you care about actually seeing the characters, you will be out of a caharacter breakfast AFTER rope drop. We have never left one and made rope drop, and we will only book an 8:05 or 8:10. We typically get out about 9:30 ish. The only thing that has ever gotten us an advantage was and 8:05 BBB. We got out about 8:45 and did the second rope drop for fantasy land. There were several of us from BBB, but only about 10 from CRT, and none for CP there.

Thanks everyone! On second thought, we'd probably be better off looking for a lunch reservation at CP rather than a breakfast one. I suspect my kids will be so excited about getting to the rides etc that they won't eat much in the morning. If the early reservation were to give us a head start, it would be worth it, but I think we might be better off getting an early start and taking a break for lunch and characters midday.
