What time does your family wake up at Disney?

We have never been there at rope drop, even though i would love to. Mostly because it is highly likely we went to bed late the previous night, my DS drags his feet to get ready (unless he goes to bed at 8 the previous night, which we never get to do on vacations because there is so much to do). He even missed jedi training signups because he didn't want to get up for rope drop. He only decided that he really wanted to do it when he saw it for himself. oh well..

also, i don't consider WDW a restful vacation like some others mentioned. We always come back home super exhausted... lol

7 am for a 9 am rope drop; 6:30 for an EMH 8 am rope drop. The sleep I get in our RV at Fort Wilderness is the most peaceful sleep I have all year.

8am seems to be about as late as we can go... So many people in one room, we all wake up! Which isn't a bad thing for a commando family. Most days we are up at 7am and catching the bus/boat/monorail by 8:15.

We're usually up by 7. We eat in the food court so we're usually out there by 7:45/8:00 and at the buses by 8:30. Unless we're doing EMH, then we'll be a little quicker! We've never made a rope drop but once at Epcot, but that was like the running of the bulls so we don't kill ourselves to be the 1st ones there.

Sleep late because we are on vacation? Might as well stay home. You can sleep in as late as you want. No need to travel anywhere.

I am a rope drop devotee.

We are not morning people at all but on vacation we are generally up early depending on the plans for the day. Usually 6am-7am. We sometimes have a day or 2 where we sleep in til like 9 or 10 but not often. I don't go on vacation to sleep. If I spend all of that money I don't want to miss out on doing things.

Sleep is over-rated, lol. My dh wants to laze around on vacation and I am like a caged cat waiting for him to get ready.

I think this year, I'm going to just get up and go, take whichever kids are awake and want to go (if they can get ready fast!) and have the others meet up with us when they're ready. I hate the waiting around while dh drinks coffee and takes a 40 minute shower so, so much.

Everyone's "luxury" on vacation is different. Our lives are pretty relaxed in real life, but long days are the norm. We still keep those long days of up early, and stay out late when at WDW. But what we get to do on vacation is NAP! Our family is like this when I suggest it's time to go take a nap --> :dance3: ! :lmao:

So we still get up around 6, go for runs, make breakfast in the villa, and generally make rope drop about 3/4 of the days we're on vacation. We also make park closing about 3/4 of the days we're on vacation. We generally make nap time all the days we're on vacation!

Do I think it is right for anyone else? Nope. But it's perfect for us. :goodvibes

P.S. No alarm. We all just wake up early, as we do the rest of our lives.

For a 10 night trip we have 6 rope drop days. Those days I'll get up 645-7 am and start getting ready. I'll start waking the kids around 7:20. They shower the night before so they are quick to get ready. We try to leave by 8 am. The first 2-3 days of the trip everyone gets up early no problems. By days 5-6 it gets harder so I always do our rest day around day 4-5.

We have one full rest day to sleep as late as we want. One MK pm EMH day that we will sleep late and our water park day we will sleep in.

Since were staying at the bc I'm thinking we can sleep a tad bit later on our Epcot and DHS days.

SO is also going. He is not a morning person. I've told him how we do WDW. If he's not up and ready he will get left. ;)

I go in August. It's so hot that IMO rope drop is a must. With a midday break at the pool and back to the parks at night. My kids aren't crazy about waking up in the morning but they understand that we get more done if we wake up early.

I do take lazy vacations at the beach. WDW is not my lazy vacation.

Another thing for us is we don't feel the need to be at the park 30 minutes prior to opening. Catching the bus around 815 and arriving around 845 is fine with us. Even closer to 9. We don't need to be the first in the pack. We've found even doing this we get a lot done.

Trixie15, I think that's a great idea. Reduces tension and everyone vacations at their pace.

I normally hate hearing my alarm clock at home, but on vacation its a totally different story. I get up for work at home at 4:30-5:30 an at Disney it is no different. I set my alarm for 5:15 take a shower, up my family ( they like getting up early to go also) and I head out to get a cup of coffee. I usually people watch and enjoy the nice quiet morning until they meet me around 6:15-6:45 grab a snack and head to the bus stop. EMH every day that they are available. Love this place !!!:thumbsup2

We let the kids sleep as late as they can, which can mean 7:00-8:30. Rested children = happy children = happy parents = wonderful vacation for our family!

For our family, the morning EMHs are the best times in the park! So we get up early enough to try to be on the first bus out.

We often return to the resort to rest, when the parks are crowded anyway, and then hop to close down the second park.

Our Disney trips are usually shorter so we find this allows us to maximize our enjoyment without being dog-tired! :goodvibes

I always wake up around 5:30,get dressed then wake the family up.While they are getting ready i refill the coolers with ice and staighten up the car and restock the backpack.By the time im done, they are ready and wecan hit the parks before the gates open.So much can be done before the crowds hit the parks.

DH and I haven't done "rope drop" in years.

The past few trips we've stayed on site and we generally wake up between 6:00 - 7:00, but we never set an alarm. We don't set an alarm at home so I sure don't want to do it on vacation. :)

We usually walk over to the food court to get coffee and breakfast, and either eat at the food court or bring it back to our room.

We enjoy spending a couple of hours leisurely at the resort before hopping on a bus, maybe around 10:00, to go to one of the parks.

We do enjoy closing the parks down though, especially if they are open late for resort guests. :)
