we are starting to plan for our cruise, but don't have a PAT because we are platinum. What time does the port of Miami open? We want to make sure we get to take advantage of being able to use a boarding pass #1:)

We sailed out of Miami on 12/18 and had a 10:30-11:00am PAT (we are Platinum). We arrived at about 10:15 and waited outside for about 30 minutes. It was crazy. We checked in and then waited until boarding started at 12noon. The terminal was packed and it was nearly impossible to get to the front of the line because all the other boarding groups were crowding the entrance (I had to squeeze past someone with boarding group #26 who was not giving up their spot right in front of the employee checking boarding numbers). Next time, I'll plan on arriving at noon.

On our last cruise in mid October 2015, they opened the doors around 10:45. We were there around 10:25 and were near the front of the line. We were through security and checked in by just after 11:00. I believe they started boarding around 11:45.

We are Platinum and sailed on the Magic 12/23. It was so easy.
We arrived about 11am there was no line to enter the terminal and a very short line to go through security. Both took about 5 minutes.
The check in desk for Platinum is at the back of the terminal so you don't have to walk through everyone.
Check in took just a few minutes we were given boarding #1. They were about to announce the Family of the Day.
I had read on these boards that they allowed Platinum to board through the concierge. I had to ask and they allowed us. We boarded right away. We were on before 11:30.

We're also sailing out of Miami. Your boarding number is tied to your PAT, correct? So if we have the first PAT and show up right when it starts we won't get stuck waiting behind people that showed up super early with later PATs?

You may wait in line(s) to get through security and to check-in. With an early PAT you'll be given a low (early) boarding number. Your actual boarding number will have you boarding ahead of the crowds if they had later PATs.

Enjoy your cruise!

Miami was a mess, in my experience. We had small kids and arrived around our PAT, thinking it would be like PC. Nope. It was crowded, like a PP said, and there was a delay with boarding. We ended up with boarding #7 and were walking on the ship AT 12:30. We also had to push past hundreds of people with later boarding numbers.
So, my advice would be like other PPs': don't arrive too early. They won't be boarding until 11:30-ish anyway. And since you're concierge, you'll just walk right on about then. It will be a much better start to your cruise :)

At PC we like to arrive around 12:30 so we don't have to line up and can walk right on before the Disney buses start arriving. Is there a similar good time to arrive into Miami? We're going out of there later this year.

Is there a special place for platinum members to wait in Miami? Or, should I also ask about boarding through the concierge area?
