What time do they let you in if staying offsite?

I'm trying to figure out what time I need to arrive if USF has an opening time of 8am. I am staying offsite and am not sure what the procedure is for day guests to enter. Do they make you wait outside the turnstiles until 8am on the dot or do they let you through the turnstile earlier and then wait behind a rope inside the park?

Thanks!

Usually let you in about 15 minutes early. Once through the turnstiles, you are free to go.

The day we are going the park is open 8am to 7pm (October 28th)

What time should we leave POR-R at to get there in a timely fashion?

Assuming we are there for 8am, do we bother going straight to Gringotts, will it already be brutally lined up? I wish there was a cheat sheet like what you can get for WDW from Josh at easywdw

Another question...if they let you in 15 minutes early, does that mean everything will be operating 15 minutes early? I know the only attractions operating during early entry hours are HP and Despicable Me. Do you have to wait until 8am on the dot to do everything that isn't HP or Despicable Me?

They'll be operational. By the time you get through the queues and into the ride it is 8 am anyways.

If you are being insane (like we are) and doing both parks in one day, would you plan to start at US at 8am and go directly to Diagon Alley...proceed to IOA and do that park...and then go back to US and end there?

Is the 8am opening for all guests or just on-site guests?

8 am is for all guests.

It is tough to predict which park to do first because sometimes Gringotts is down first thing in the morning and the line is already quite long by the time the park opens. However, IOA opens an hour later, so you may as well start at Universal. Just check out the times as you enter the park as to what you should do first. Some rides don't open right at opening.

Does anyone know what time we should leave at and is it worth going to Gringotts at 8 or is it already too late ( in which case we would start with despicable me )

Sometimes it is fine going to Gringotts at 8 and sometimes it is already backed up. Check the wait time board as you enter the park for wait times and decide from there.

A lot depends on if Gringotts has been running smoothly that morning.

I would leave POR at 6:45. Crowds on a Tuesday should be pretty good.
