What things have you seen lying along the road, lost or fallen off a vehicle in traffic?

I once saw an extension ladder fall off the roof of a work van on the highway at speed. That's one of many reasons never to tailgate!

Lying along side the road......shoes, boots, clothes, tires, furniture, food, boxes, cans, mattresses, wood.....so many things.

Falling off a vehicle, tires and then they bounce around while people are trying to avoid them.
Large cans of paint.
A cement truck's long pipe for the cement to come out, release and went into the window of the car behind

a boat once came loose from a trailer and bounced right in front of me on the freeway, scarier though was the LARGE bbq that also was not secured and flew off and onto the freeway.

craziest thing ever-a moving truck was in an accident wherein a car had become airborne and went THROUGH the cargo area. someones furniture, household goods, clothing all scattered on the road and over the mountain side (in the sierras)-saddest thing was seeing all these family photos being blown off the mountain sides.

On I-84 in CT, bicycle secured on back of vehicle fell off a few cars in front of us

I had a Traffic Reporter say he was going to go out and pickup all the stuff he was reporting as being on the side of the road and open a thrift store.

Saddest thing I saw like that was a group loading a big screen TV into the back of their small pickup truck at a store. A few minutes later I passed them where they were pulled over standing around the box laying on its side at the side of the highway.

A tour bus, laying on it’s side on I-95 near the Bronx, N.Y.-CT border.

We had rented a ZipCar to return some stuff to the Cabela’s near New Haven and traffic was backed up for miles on both sides of the road. We were pretty sure that people had died from the state of the vehicle but fortunately saw nothing.

Later we heard at least 10 people had died and the bus was returning to Chinatown from one of the CT casinos. It was suspected the driver fell asleep which lead to a crackdown on the labor regulations in the interstate travel industry.

On Friday we saw a road worker dragging a small trampoline off the highway.
