What stroller should she take?

My DSis is taking her 7month old on our trip in May. Which stroller should she take -- the bigger one with storage, cupholders, etc. but bulkier or the small one that folds up and can be slung over her shoulder if needed (does have some room for storage)?

We are taking our inbetween stroller for our DD2. Anyone have any advice about strollers?

Thanks in advance!

Go ahead and take the smaller one, IF it is also comfortable for the child. Has good shade, decent storage, and reclines some (for naps.)

Cup holder for the kids is good too.

We have a combi travel savy DX that is small, but comfortable and it works great. It was wonderful not to have to deal with the huge stroller in the parks (very busy.) Especailly if you take the bus. My DD loved this stroller and was very comfortable in it. We liked it too and had enough storage, if we set it up right. The basket underneth is basicly worthless.

If the small one is nothing more then a cheap umbrella, go with the big more comfortable stroller.

The only way I would bring a big graco or evenflo one is if I had a very youn child and was still using the car seat in it.

We bring our lightweight "big" stroller, Metrolite, when our DD was 9 months. Because she's not walking yet and she's too big for me to baby bjorn her, the stroller had all the nicities, especially the snack tray so that she can snack when we wait for others on the ride, we snapped on a fan to the stroller. And we still brought her food at 9 months, so it was nice to have the bigger basket to carry the extras that go along with that agee. I agree it isn't easy on the buses (nor on the trams), that's why we still drive when we stay onsite and we try to get there early so that we don't have to take the tram except at MK. When my DS was 2 we just used an umbrella stroller and that was fine. Have fun.

I've used light umbrella type strollers, the travel system, doubles (tandem & joggers) and I can tell you it doesn't make that much of a difference to me.

The travel system ones are much more comfortable for the child, offer more amenities, easier on the parent and are fantastic when baby is under one. They are harder on the bus, but only slightly. And quite frankly we don't spend our time on the buses, but in the parks. I think the degree of difficulty is equal on the monorail & boats. For me, the convinence needs to be not on the 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off the bus, but where we're spending the biggest chunk of our time. Pushing the bigger/smaller stroller in the park is no different based on size, but on how good the stroller is.

JMO and been there done that experience

We took our big stroller when DS was 8 months. Last time we took our Combi (DS1.5), lightweight but still amenities. ;) I think it also depends when you go...DH didn't mind carrying the biggie on the busses in September, but I don't know if he would feel the same way in July!

Sorry, didn't completely read the OPs full post...not sure how crowded the busses are in May, maybe someone else knows?? :confused3

I think it almost depends on where you are staying then when. All the mods and values are more crowded (because of the size of the resorts) The deluxes aren't as bad, but sometimes share busses and that can increase the crowds. AKL doesn't share a bus, and isn't a very big resort, so in my experince it wans't as bad as PORS.

May is not a super busy time, one of my very favorite time to go to WDW (as long as you aren not talking about the last week of.)

Closing time is always very busy, almost any busy. People do often make seats for women holding babies, but not so much father's with strollers. Many a time my DH has been suck holding a stoller and a sleeping 4 year old, standing up. Not easy. Belive the size of the stroller does mater then. (and the ease of moving it.)

If you are planing on driving always then bigger strollers aren't as bad, but can sometimes be hard to mavover in tight spaces. The do make a differnce in trying to fit everything in the car though.

I would definitely take the big one! If you're anything like me, you need lots of storage room and a cup holder is a must! I always brought my Graco DuoGlider double stroller for my 4 and 6yo and both seats recline, the kids can get in and out of the seats easily and it's pretty easy to push.

Sadly, we gave it away about 6 months ago and I haven't forgiven myself. The only time I would ever use it is at a theme park. We went to Disneyland at Christmas and rented a stroller there but they only had singles and the kids fought the whole time over who would get to sit in it. (It was just the 3 of us, so no other adult to push a second one.) And there was very little room for storage and I had to carry all the stuff from the car to the theme park entrance and renting the stroller was expensive and I had to carry all the stuff back to the car/hotel plus deal with 2 tired kids.

For this trip (in 5 days!! :cool1: ) I am taking a smaller single stroller but it doesn't recline and is short so I have to bend over to push it (and I'm only 5'7" so not super tall). DD4 still takes naps, so I wish it would recline.

Oh well. Teaches me to freecycle my stroller! :lmao:

I would go with the most comfortable one. A 7 month old is going to spend a lot of time in a stroller. Which reclines better? Can the stroller be covered with a blanket when the baby is asleep to keep the baby out of the sun? Personally, I think cup holders are important, but that is just my opinion.

Will you have a car? We have always rented a car (two trips and again in about a month). We like that the kids have their car seats, rather than the bus and then we bring whichever stroller we prefer.

Good luck

Now I'm thinkng of taking the Duoglider for my mine. Ds will be 2 and DD is 6 so I don't know how good she will fit in it. She is small though 40 inches and 38 lbs. I guess it was comfy enough for your 6 yr. old? Also Are they a pain to fold to go on the mononrail and buses?

Just so that you know, I did find out what her small stroller is. It is a Combi Soho Sport. I don't know anything about them but I do remember seeing threads about Combis. Her big stroller is a Graco that her carrier fit in.

We are staying at POR in the mansions. We will not have a car -- strictly using buses (and boat to DTD).

She is leaning toward the big one at the moment -- mostly for the room underneath. I've passed along everyone's opinion. She says thank you as well! :)

Hi Hunnybee, did I ever tell you I went to WMU and a good friend went to Hope?

Anyway after reading that my vote is for the combi. That was our WDW stroller when we only had one kid. We used it for 3 trips and it worked great for us. The busses at PORS are super busy, almost every time. (not only night) so less to carry on the bus is a good thing. Also the combi is comfortable stroller for kids. The biggest issuse is the basket under it is useless. You can not have anything in it when it folds up. We just hung a bag off the back and that worked great. We clipped it on with stroller clips and then held it on the bus.

I personally never liked the big Graco kind (ours was evenflo) except for holding the car seat. If you are not bringing the car seat, leave the graco behind.

Best of luck, have a great trip. We will be there in May too. (SSR May 6 to 9th and then Vero beach until the 12th.) We wer at PORS last may (around the same time) and it is beatiful there in May. Request building 14 or close to it if you are staying in AB, great location. PORS busses are very busy and full, almost any time of day there are at least a few people who have to stand, and the big stroller does make it very awalkward. Also people are pretty competive getting on and off so not having to manvor the big stoller is nice. DH was able to sit with a child on one leg, and the stroller up next to him and it diddn't take up much room at all. You can not do that with a graco.
