What strategies do you use to save for your Disney trip?

I think disney trips are one of the easiest to pay of. We have a vacation account but what I usually do for Disney vacations is call and make reservations far in advance I know that I need a $200 deposit. Once I am done with that I spread the total of our trips into months until our trip and just pay it monthly or every paycheck. I am usually done way before our trip and I also make sure I put some extra $$$ in our account for extras. By the time we get there the vacation is paid of :). Sometimes I just put the money in our account and put it in our disney visa so the other money gets some interest for 6 months.

We went to WDW last January, and before we even got home our family knew we wanted to go back. We figured it would take 3 years to save up enough money. We all committed to giving up gifts throughout the year and instead putting that money in our vacatin fund. We also did a couple of yard sales over the summer. And I sold some stuff on Craigslist. I also put $100 a month into the vacation fund. I work in my church's nursery a few days a month and all of that money goes toward vacation. My kids are collecting spare change and have saved up about $300 already! Any misc. checks that come in the mail (rebates, refunds, etc.) go into the vacation fund, too.

It's really is surprizing how fast it adds up. We have already saved enough for our trip in January, and we're working on our next vacation fund!

Only you can answer that. Is he a responsible person? There may be difficulties in your horizon. Are you prepared to cover if he doesn't pay up? Are you prepared to cancel too?

That's why I gave him the time frame. At least, make an effort. (He found a plane tix.) That's why he has until June 2011. I'm going ANYWAY.

I love Disney Gift Cards ~ I use them all them time at DLR *Disneyland CA* and the one time we visited WDW. For those of you who buy them often did you know you can add money to an exsisiting DGC by calling DelivEARS ~800-362-4533 *you give the CM your credit/debit card info and they mail you the receipt. Last time I did this *a couple months ago* the $$ was on the GC the next day. Record your GC #s + the PIN *maybe* in case they get lost you call them and they can reissue it but only if you know the #

With the Disney rewards it seems like my rewards don't really ever add up :( I really like the idea of buying the Disney giftcards but my question would be can you use those towards paying for the actual trip?? We will do the dining plan when we go and have a $25 souvenir limit next year so we wouldn't need them for food! I think after Christmas I may see if I can set up an account at our bank to save a little from each check. I also like taking the total amount we will need and dividing it by the weeks until we goes..great suggestions..keep them coming!

Just keep the money in your savings account. No need to set something separate up with your bank. My DH does a spread sheet that keeps track of different funds such as vacation, emergency, home improvement etc. We put a fixed amount in the savings with a fixed amount allocated to each fund. We don't touch any money other than for it's intended use.

Also, I'm pretty sure you can use the gift cards to pay off your trip. I read it on another post a while back. Hope this helps!:flower3:
