We noticed there were no songs without lyrics which was too bad. I would have voted for The theme from Shindler's List and Jaws!

I wish they included Hello Young Lovers from The King and I, Money Makes the World Go Round from Cabaret and The Circle of Life from The Lion King.

I would have liked to see "'Swonderful" or "How Long Has This Been Going On" from Funny Face.

We only caught it from about #40 on down. We noticed, unless we missed them, there weren't any John Williams compositions. Could it be because of the lack of lyrics?? Were there any from Grease in the higher numbers??

I like the entire Wuthering Heights soundtrack. Great movie, great music. I am of course speaking of the MTV version.

Most of the songs had vocals. As a biased fan I was looking for 'Porpoise Song' from the Monkees movie "Head", but didn't really expect to see it. It was also used in "Vanilla Sky" when Tom Cruise is strangling his girlfriend--it was so serious and I was the one in the theatre saying "Honey, it's the Monkees!";)

"Think" from the Blues Brothers.
"Color of the Wind" from Pocahontis.

I really thought the theme from "Gone with the Wind" would be in the top five, but as I watched the show, I realized there were no instrumental-only sounds on the list.

DH and I had bets going... I was correct for #1 and #2.
Would have liked to see:
Theme from "A Summer Place"
Theme from "The Godfather"
Theme from "Summer of '42"

I got teary-eyed when they played "When you Wish upon a Star"... (could have been the red wine I had been drinking!)

/
"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from The Lion King
"Danger Zone" from Top Gun
"There You'll Be" from Pearl Harbor
"I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" from Armageddon

Were there any from Grease in the higher numbers??
Yes. "Summer Nights" was #70.

"Seventy-six trombones led the big parade... with a hundred and ten...."

I *missed* seeing something from The Music Man represented - so many great songs!!!!!!!!!

Most, if not all, had lyrics, at least originally. Otherwise, you would have been opening a whole other can of worms!! So many great movies have excellent orchestral soundtracks... Star Wars, Shindlers List, ET, shoot, anything by John Williams!

We must think alike, I was going to say anything from The Music Man, but my favorite is the "Trouble in River City" song.

"I've Had the Time of My Life" by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley in the movie Dirty Dancing.

Not a great song but a really funny song:

"You'll Be a Dentist" sung by Steve Martin in the movie, Little Shop of Horrors. That one cracks me up everytime I see him sing it!

Was there anything from Fiddler on the Roof? I missed it if there was.

I would have liked to have seen Once Upon A Dream and Colours of the Wind listed too.

DS was rooting for the theme from Halloween. ;)

They stated at the beginning of the show that the rankings were only songs with words. I was surprised that Elvis only had one song considering the number of movies that he made. I also like the song from Up Close and Personal and Sleepless in Seattle.

That was on there at #86.

I really would have liked to see something from "Rocky Horror" on that list. Perhaps "Time Warp"? Ah well, I did enjoy most everything they had on the list. Guess we can't have everything we want in just 100 songs.

Still... no Spinal Tap? No "Car Wash"? :p

That has got to be one of the funniest movie musicals ever made. I LOVE LSOH! :)

I also kinda wished they'd had some Andrew Lloyd Webber songs up there...perhaps "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" from Evita.
