We are thinking about renting a car for our Sept 1st-8th trip. However, my mom is also renting an ECV from Apple Scooters. It's a Go Go Elite Traveler. It will just be my mom and me, so we don't really need a big car, but what size would we need to hold her ECV?:confused3 I had originally wanted to rent an Midsize, but am afraid the trunk won't be big enough for the ECV. Midsize are listed as Toyota Corrolla or similar. Standard are listed as Ford Fusion or similar. Full Size is listed as Chevy Impala, Nissan Altima, Dodge Charger, or similar. I'd hate to rent a car that is too small, then not be able to use it because the ECV wouldn't fit, but at the same time don't want to get a bigger car than I have to.

You may have to put the seat in the backset of the car (if it's not full of other stuff) and maybe the battery, too, but the rest of it should fit (especially when separated into the remaining two pieces) in the trunk of nearly any car (other than a Smart car or VW Beetle maybe). Obviously some sort of hatchback would be best but is certainly not required.

On a side note, you may want to consider paying an extra $30-40 and getting their Pride Victory 10 Super Deluxe Scooter. That's what we're doing for my mom in two weeks, instead of bringing her personal Go-Go Elite with us. We preferred to have a headlight for nighttime, plus the captain's chair and the greater cruising range, just in case. If you got this one, the chair would almost certainly have to be placed in your backseat, probably on its side or back.

I use that scooter and also have a Ford Fusion, and my scooter fits entirely in the trunk of the Fusion. I have even placed it in the trunk of a Mustang Convertible, but would not recommend it.

Since it is just the 2 of you, a mid sized car should be fine, you just might have to put the seat and battery in the back seat. If you got a standard one (especially a Fusion), you will definitely be fine.

My Go-Go Traveller fits in the trunk of my Hyundai Sonata. You should be able to fit it into any mid-sized car and most compact cars. It does pretty much fills up the trunk. I have been able to fit some soft sided stuff around it, but if you have much luggage at all you will need to use the trunk and the back seat.

What I found works best for me is to put the largest piece, the deck/tiller, in first, pushed all the way to the back of the trunk. You will have 4 pieces left: Seat, battery, basket, and motor w/rear wheels. Then figure out how to best fit in those with your luggage. The motor probably needs to go into the trunk, but the rest can fit in the back seat if you need trunk space for big suitcases.

As per a previous post we fit a Pride Victory in the back of a 2 Door older Honda Civic with the seat in the back seat. Doable but tight. Anything bigger should be fine. We are renting a Ford Fusion for the Victory next month it should fit no problems and it's a full size scooter.

Thanks everyone. For some reason I was thinking the deck/tiller portion of the ECV was bigger. We are renting the ECV and will just be using it the days we go to the parks or offsite, so no luggage will be in the car at that time. How the heck would one fit in the trunk of a compact? I really wanted something like a Toyota Corolla, but was afraid the ECV wouldn't fit. Right now I have rental car reservations for a midsize, a standard, and a full size, but would rather go with the smaller car if the ECV would fit.

You definitely don't need the standard size car. If this helps you, my 3 wheel Go-Go Traveler's deck measures 33 long x19 wide x 17 high. Sometimes fitting it in a car is not the length of the trunk, but the height. The seat post could be the most problem. It does not come off, and mine is at the lowest height.
