What singer has the very best voice ever?

Male- Nat King Cole. His voice was so smooth and expressive. Freddy Mercury also comes to mind. His could do vocal acrobatics with his range.

Female- Aretha Franklin can do it all....soul and opera. Dawn Upshaw has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. There are composers who write music especially for her voice.

Olena, I would have to agree w/you on Freddie Mercury. He really did have an incredible range. I miss him so much. :(

Well, I tried to think about the voice and what impresses me. Lots of people can sing, but there are few gems with truly special voices.

Between Bob Dylan and ........

WILLIAM HUNG :faint:

hee hee. Just had to that post before Webmaster Barry did! :p

And hey, let's not forget Shatner or Nimoy! :p

Hmm Good question!

My top male ones would be Luther Vandross and Otis Redding

Top females are Norah Jones, Joss Stone (AMAZING) and Ann Wilson from Heart

Peggy Lee!!

Although for musicals I like Susan Egan, and Lea Salonga.

Can't really think of any classic rock female vocals I like. :( Janis Joplin sounds too screechy for me.

For modern rock, I love Amy Lee (Evanesence)'s voice. I normally don't like hard rock but her voice is SO good.

Can't really think of any male voices.

Male: John Denver
Female: Julie Andrews used to until her voice was ruined :(

without question...BARRY MANILOW!

::yes::

Actually, to be truthful, if we're talking voice alone, it would be Clay or Luther. But as all around performer, whose voice also appeals - Barry wins. :hyper:

For female, I think I'll go with Christina Aguilera - heard her on a talk show singing a capella, and she was AMAZING. I had no idea.

And I forget to mention Stevie Nicks & all the women in October Project. And Loreena McKennit.

Freddy Mercury of queen. I don't anyone that had his range. When they did his tribute concert, not one singer was able to match his range. The closest was Annie Lenox.

Great Thread!

For guys:

Michael Crawford. OMG! What a voice that man has!!!
Josh Groban
Sting
Roy Orbison
The Everly Brothers
The Bee Gees
Barry Manilow

The Ladies:
Marni Nixon. She can sound like anybody!
Celine Dion when she doesn't scream.
Peggy Lee
Andrea McArdle (the original Annie)
Karen Carpenter
Brenda Lee

Roberta

Freddie Mercury - without a doubt, hands-down the greatest male singer. Next to him, but not that close is Michael Crawford.

Females - who cares...:p

Female: Barbra... like butta!

Male: Luther... get better, honey!

Runner Ups: Freddie Mercury, Phillip Bailey, Annie Lenox, Anita Baker, Peabo Bryson, Aretha Franklyn and Mariah Carey.

Whitney if she could just get rid of the monkey on her back and BOBBY!!!

I'm getting whiplash reading these answers!!!!!!!:scared: Can't help but wonder if a "few" people have merely posted singers as their favorites just because they like a "song" that person does and not necessarily the "voice". One thing's for sure.......just like beauty, it's in the eye, or "ear" of the beholder! :teeth:

Female: Martina McBride and Christina Aguilera

Male: Ok, brace yourselves because this will come as a shock! Rob Thomas For me it is much more than just liking a few of his songs. I'm amazed by his singing and songwriting talent.

There's too many! :)

Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, Celine Dion

Toby Keith, Vince Gill...:faint: just looking at him! LOL!

Frank Sinatra and Barbra. I really, really like Linda Eder's voice, too.
