Has Disneyland decided what show will replace Rogers The Musical in the Hyperion Theater in DCA? Because I haven't heard anything about this. Why DCA got rid of Rogers The Musical so quickly i'll never understand because it was a hit musical and I wonder what Disneyland will do with the Hyperion Theater?. Probably rename it Marvel Theater and put Marvel themed stage shows in it

Something. Not anything, but something.....please.

Hollywood lot is a such a walk by these days. After getting my schmoozies , just sadly sit there staring at the red trolley often. Animation bldg can only get you so far!.

I haven't heard anything yet, unfortunately.

They really do need to utilize the Hyperion, it's such a waste! The Aladdin show was amazing and I wouldn't mind getting that back... But at this point, I'll take anything! Live entertainment is what makes Disney so special.

Aladdin, Frozen, ANYTHING!! Totally agree with everyone else on that, but my fear is that the recent increase in pay for entertainment CMs will nix the idea of putting on another production.

ETA: I'm not really sure how Disney handles something like Aladdin etc as far as pay. Are they paid by a separate company? Are the actors Disney CMs?

Just revamp that entire east harbor side to expansion of avengers campus on real ticket ride. Cosmic rewind west coast. With the disneyforward garage that's plenty of space.to build that and proven ride and IP.....just saying 🤪

I think all the actors that are in the Disneyland plays work for Disney as cast members though I think for their big plays they audition and select well known former Broadway play actors. I know that the actor who played The Genie in Aladdin A New Musical was named Nick Santa Maria and he was best known for being in Broadway plays such as Grease before being cast as The Genie for the Aladdin play. But I do agree that the Hyperion Theater needs a play that everyone can enjoy and a play based on Disney's Wish could work very well. But why I think Rogers The Musical didn't last that long was because I think they just gotten the wrong type of audience and since most of the people who knew about it from the Hawkeye series saw it Rogers The Musical failed to have an appeal

They are cast members, but they have different contracts than those who work in entertainment as characters in the park and parades for example.
And I think there is also a difference in unions, but I'm not sure about that.

One of the actors playing the Genie for 10 years (also the last performance) has a Tiktok channel where he explains a lot about how it works behind the scenes with schedulling and understudies. https://www.tiktok.com/@itsdylanwhite

For the actual question: I wonder if they will copy one of the shows we have here in Disneyland Paris. Like Mickey and the Magician or Together (Pixar), those are quite technical shows which work better in an indoor theater.

Rogers didn’t last because it was never intended to be more than a limited run. I do agree that it had a limited appeal. I know had no clue what it was based on and wouldn’t have had no interest in seeing it.

Well, it did have great response and the packages sold out nearly every show, near as I can tell. As I’ve stated before (ad nauseum),it was a tremendous amount of talent and energy expended for such a short time. I suppose like many things at Disney, it’s a IYKYK thing and yes, Marvel fans were the target audience. I didn’t know a thing about Tiana and what all that fuss is about until I made myself watch the movie one day. It’s very cute and now I’m looking forward to the new ride.

RTM was perfect at Hyperion, glad I downloaded fronm YouTube and can now watch whenever I want to.

DITTO for Dr. Strange’s last show…I cried my eyes out. Yep…Sadness was definitely around that day…another film (InsideOut) I made myself watch instead of just being an old curmudgeon complaining about these “new Disney movies that nearly as good as the old days”… :rotfl2:

As for original topic…PROBABLY NOTHING until they finally decide what they are going to do with that whole vacant area…SO SAD.

I was just reading about all the current and impending entertainment cuts being due to low attendance this summer. They are being forced to cut costs to compensate. Their fiscal year also ends 9/30, which makes it attractive from a business standpoint to trim costs when revenue is down.

I don't agree with it, just passing along what I read this morning.

As others have said, it was always a planned short time for the show. Honestly, we are not big Marvel fans and other than the big characters (Spidey, Captain America, Iron Man), we have no idea who most of the characters are. But we loved the show. We only ended up seeing it once despite wanting to see it again, it never really worked into our plans.

I bet they will bring back Rogers The Musical or develop a Guardians Of The Galaxy Christmas show to put in the theater for December 2024 because when you take Marvel characters and Christmas you can easily make a great Christmas show in my eyes. But what I think mainly the simple reason why Disneyland did not give Rogers The Musical a full run in DCA was because I think Disney is planning to take it to Broadway next. But it would also be cool if a new Hawkeye show would be put in that theater as a second choice

My other thought is that Rogers The Musical will see a Disney+ release like they did with Hamilton because Disney+ is known for having Marvel shows and Rogers The Musical would fit great on Disney+. But it's hard to believe that ever since DCA was opened that theater is known for having good plays then ends them for no reason and the only two big shows that survived were Aladdin and Frozen and when you get the general picture the Disneyland shows and entertainment are free with admission with your park ticket so I would hope Disneyland gave all the performers in Rogers The Musical huge money for their performance. But I do hope DCA comes up with an impressive replacement show for the Hyperion Theater and a good show and not a show like Snow White An Enchanting New Musical was for Fantasyland Theater in Disneyland. But most likely they will have a Christmas extravaganza in that theater during November in December with singers and dancers performing holiday songs and Santa Claus appears at the end
