Hi,

Just a quick question - What should a teenager aged 15 wear on a 7 day Disney cruise that has both a formal and semi-formal dinner night ?

If it helps, the ship is the Disney fantasy.

Male or female? My 14 year old son wore a suit & tie for formal night and did without the jacket on semi-formal (just the shirt, tie & dress pants.) My 11 year old daughter (who looks more like 16) wore a long pink dress with subtle beading for formal night, and short black dress for semi-formal (also with just enough beading to make it look a little fancier!)

15 year old male, sorry I forgot to add that. And thanks for the quick reply !

When I was 16 I wore a black suit with tie on formal night and just a shirt and tie on semi formal night. However that cruise was in Alaska and I was better dressed than most adult men there. But seeing that your going on the fantasy most people will be well dressed with a fair number of adults in tuxes. Assuming your teen is a guy, suit and tie on formal night is the way to go especially for that age.

We had our teen boys wear slacks, a long sleeve shirt and a tie to formal night. On semi-formal night, they wore a similar outfit sans tie.

They seemed to actually enjoy dressing up. They were upset when they realized we didn't pack the jackets. We did so only to save space.

That said, you'll see a wide variety of dress by all. On our Fantasy cruise, most men seemed to wear long-sleeves dress shirts and a jacket. A lot were in ties. Very few were in tuxes, but we did see one family with three small boys all in tuxes. From threads on here, you'd think that would be the minority, but it wasn't for us. Yes, you'll still see people in shorts on formal/semi-formal nights, but it seemed very rare this time. YMMV

I was on the Fantasy in March. I wore dress pants, a dress shirt, and tie for formal. On semi-formal I wore the same, just different clothes.

We were just on the Fantasy last week. My DS15 wore a black suit with a tie and black shirt (can't tell he likes black, huh?) for formal night and black shirt, slacks and a piano tie for semi-formal night. He also has a black hat he wore both nights.

We just got home last night and haven't had a chance to offload cameras yet. I'll try to find a pic to post. I know we have formal night. Not so sure about semi-formal.
