So we are bringing two newbies with us when we go to the World in July. What is that one thing that all newbies should do? :scratchin I should say that one is 25 and the other is 15...

TIA

Well that all depends on what parks you will visit & what kind of food everyone enjoys but here are my top 3 suggestions based on my experience with some newbies this past Spring Break:

1. Definitely do Soarin' at EPCOT. After they had seen 3 parks out of 4 they still wanted to tog back & do Soarin'.

2. Make dinner reservations for California Grill to coincide with the MK fireworks - superb food, & awesome ambiance!

3. Magic Kingdom itself is a must do. It's a chance to be kids again!

I hope you have a wonderful time! :)

Even though we are not newbies we still have to do Its a Small World each and every time we go.My kids love Soarin as well. Most of all just soak it all in and create your own personal cannot miss list. Do not and I repeat do not think about or even try to do it all in a single trip you will be on a commando misson and not really take the time to create those special Disney Memories. Have fun....

I usually give out park maps and ask them to mark their "must dos" and "maybes." I travel with a large group and we all have our must dos, our I can skip this with no problem and our don't even think about getting me on that ride. I have friends who skip Soarin without blinking an eye. For me, it's a I can skip it with no problem. For others it's a must do.

So I have found we can plan accordingly by giving newbies a park map beforehand. The only attraction I strongly suggest is the Haunted Mansion.

We've taken newbies with us before and will be taking 5 newbies with us in just 25 more days...not that we're counting.
We actually have "bootcamp" for newbies simply because DH and I have been going now for 13 years and we believe that if the newbies aren't prepared, they may miss something they really wanted. We "require" them to watch the planning video and for those that have kids (we don't) if their kids find rides that parents are unsure of, we have them look them up on youtube. We ask our company to give us their list of things that are absolute must do's, things they would like to do if there is time and things that they have no interest in doing. It really helps DH and I figure out our days. We also do NOT expect to spend every waking minute with our company. Everyone needs downtime and time away from one another.

My DW and I were newbies in 2007 and had such a GREAT time that we bought in to DVC in 2008.

I'll share some of the best memories we had as "newbies".

1. Our "guides" made sure we did the safari at AK. We planned for the day with extra magic hours and were there when the park opened. Went straight to the safari and it was amazing. We have gone since on days when there were no extra magic hours and not seen anywhere near as many of the animals.

2. This is a little cruel, but very funny. You have to take the newbies to the Coca-Cola area at Epcot and video them tasting the different flavors. Just make sure you give them the Beverly (?spelling) last. It's so nasty that you get the most wonderful facial expressions to laugh at as you watch the video.

3. Make a day of going through the countries at Epcot and sharing a "treat" in each country. It's an extra way of connecting and remembering each country when you have not only visual/auditory memories, but also taste and smell.

4. If you can time it just right, it is very cool to watch the MK fireworks from the hot air ballon in Downtown Disney. I did this with my DS last year. He was 4 at the time and we had chosen to eat dinner and go shopping on the next to last night of our stay. He asked to ride the ballon. It was almost 9pm when we boarded and the operator let the group stay up longer than the usual ride to watch the fireworks.
