What Shots Did Eastern Repo Folks Get?

Any advise from cruisers on board West bound repo?

I have traveled a bit and shots really depend on where you are going and for how long.

For example most doctors don't say that you really need any extra shots other then standard shots that people get if you traveling to Mexico, islands around the states. The most importand thing I have always been told is Water from others that we are not use to- like for ex. Mexico, the water is what can really make you sick. People remember to buy water to drink but forget when they eat the fresh fruit or raw veggies and brushing teeth at night. But since you will be on the DCL, water should be good except for when you are off the ship, then only drink the bottled water.

But you might need shots for certain parts of South America, Asia, etc. My husband is just now traveling to South Africa and doesn't need extra shots but if he was to travel just north of South Africa he would need them.

But I think that if you are worried its best to call you doctor and ask them because they have the updated list of what countries they would recommend shots for and some shots take a couple of times up to a year to take all of the shots required. Thats why I would trust your doctor the most during this issue.

I recently took a partial Canal transit cruise, and no shots were recommended and no shots were taken.

I am on the august cruise and I did get Hep A vaccinations for me, DH , DD and DS. While they werent mandatory - we decided to get them just for peice of mind. Plus if you get both shots (you get them 6 months apart) you have lifetime immunity.

I will warn you though - they are not covered by alot of insurance companies and it wound up costing me over $350 to get them for my family.

We are doing one of the Mexican Riviera Cruises this summer and our pediatrician recommended HepA shots for the kids.
