So were going for a week starting next Sunday and apparently it's going to rain probably on and off the whole time, what shoes does everyone recommend?

I was recommended by friend to just wear water shoes. Is this the best idea? Are they comfortable enough to walk around all day in?

We always go in August, I wear Teva mush, Fit Flops, Crocs Athens or classic Crocs because of the rain every day. You want something that will dry out quickly if you get caught in the rain. My hubby alternates between classic Crocs and Sperry docksiders. I don't think water shoes would be comfortable enough to walk around in all day long.

No.

Tevas are great. You see lots of people in crocs. You do a ton of walking. Sneakers with a lot of wicking material are good (so they dry out).

I'd carry extra socks as well. Maybe get a pair of flip flops that you could change into when it starts to rain and change out of after...

There are lots of options (search the threads here) just not water shoes. With wet water shoes you are asking to have your feet rubbed raw... That'll make it really hard to get through the rest of the trip.

Also, plan for a storm everyday around 4-6pm. We normally try to go back to our room before it storms to cool off and recharge for going out at night.

Teva's particularly the Mush type b/c they have a wicking like material that dries quickly. A lot of people swear by the Yoga Mat type of Sanuk brand sandals.

The one thing you do not want is standard flip flops like those you get at Old Navy. They will kill your feet and when it rains you will slide all over the place. I almost broke my ankle when I was younger in a pair of those when it rained. I also had horrible blisters all over my feet from those.

As far as sneakers, UA SpeedForm StudioLux has extreme breathability and wicking. I also love my Reebok Flex's and have gotten through 2 very rainy WDW trips in those. :)

Don't forget to wear wicking socks.

Thank you for all the great info!!!

The most important part is, if you are buying new shoes for this trip is to make sure they are broken in (esp sneakers) b/c you will be walking 10+ miles a day, averaging around 13-15miles a day.

I always travel with one pair of Teva Mush and then 2 different pairs of sneakers b/c alternating shoes is key.:)

We prefer Crocs and Go Walks. They both dry relatively quick and are comfy!

2 pairs of broken-in sneakers (mine are Saucony), and a pair of Tevas made for hiking and getting wet. Don't forget to take extra socks as those take forever to dry in the FL humidity. I alternated sneakers every other day and wore my Tevas if there was a chance of rain.

Any type of running shoe is great as they are built to wick moisture and dry quicker. Also I swear by Balega socks. I have run several half marathons and one full marathon in these things and not a single blister.

Our entire family wears Keen sandals. I think we all have versions of the Clearwater and Newport styles. We have walked miles and miles through rain and shine without any issues. They're awesome.

I took an assortment of Teva, Sanuk, and Reef flip flops on last years trip. We had one storm on our EPCOT day where I ended up running barefoot from The Seas of Nemo and Friends to The Beach Club barefoot. That was one storm where I probably should have had a sneaker. I think I may need to do some shoe shopping in the next week.
