What Shoes to wear in Disney?

A good pair of sneakers. The one time I wore anything other than sneakers I had terrible blisters for the rest of the trip. It was awful.

I hate wearing tennis shoes because I hate to wear socks. I wore Toms during our entire trip, and I am so glad that I made that decision. I have 2 pair of the classic canvas My feet did not hurt one time during our stay! I was so relieved to not have aching feet by the end. :) I would HIGHLY recommend Toms! :goodvibes

Good to know. I wasn't sure if my Toms would make it through the trip since they seem so flimsy. I'll definitely pack them. :)

Oh yeah... As long as they are broken in well, they will be perfect!

I hate tennis shoes down there--too hot. I am a flip flop diva and freely admit it. I live in them pretty much year around (unless I'm at work) and have well over 200 pairs.:rolleyes1 Unfortunately several years ago I developed plantar fasciitis and can no longer wear my beloved Teva Mush, Reefs, Yoga Mats, Nike Celso, Haviaanas, most of my Yellow Box, Crocs, Grazie, Chacos, or alot of my other favorites that I used to wear down there. I now require more support. After spending a fortune and alot of experimenting, my favorites for WDW are the OluKai Ohana by far. Nothing compares to them. I can wear them all week at WDW with no problem. Behind them in order of comfort would be Sketcher Tone ups, Orthoheel (Waves or Tides), Cobian Braided Leather Bounce, Yellow Box Jello C, Montrail Molokini, Fit Flops, Flojos Exena, and Volatile Keralees (don't care for the other Volatiles though).

Keens are the only shoe we wear at the parks. They are as comfortable as a running shoe, open like a sandal, dry quickly, and easy to take on and off.

My feet get hot in sneakers but I wear them anyway because I need the support. My feet hurt just looking at people walking around in flimsy sandals.
I have a pair of Sketchers Tone-Ups that are super comfy and really help with my occasional heel pain.

Teva Mush and Mandalyn wedges and I love broken in light weight Mary Jane style sneakers (Skechers) that I don't need socks with.

So, I am going in December when it may or may not be suitable to wear flip flops depending on the temps. My question is more around the water rides. If you wear sneakers and socks, which is my plan for me and my family, and your shoes/socks get wet (say on splash mountain), what have you all done? Bring an extra pair of socks with you?

This is my first trip with my kids, and I just want them to have the best time and be as comfortable as possible (so I am trying to take as many tips from these boards as possible)!

My son just bought a pair of Sanuk flip flops and they are the most comfortable things I've put on my feet. I'm going to buy a pair to try in WDW. It seems that everyone has a favorite shoe that feels right for them. I used to wear Nike's but now I wear New Balance cross trainers and they are wonderful. When we're in WDW I wear tennis shoes one day and flip flops the next...it keeps my feet from getting blisters. In the past I always came home with blisters and always in the same place...right foot between by toes. Was miserable by the 5th or 6th day. Now I'm good for as long as we are at WDW.
