hello, im going to Disney World for the first time i leave Dec18th and im there until Dec28th, and i was thinking about wearing my tennis shoes but if i walk too far in them i get blisters... so i was thinking about some low broad heels? or flip flops? any suggestions would be great!

I think it depends on what kind of foot person you are. You will be doing a lot of walking so keep that in mind. I really don't like tennis shoes - but I need them at Disney. My orthopedic says NB's are the best. Some people are comfortable wearing flip flops (I'm so jealous!)
I say pack what you think will be comfortable - but have a supportive, cushioned back-up pair in case you need them. Nothing will ruin a trip like sore aching feet.
Hopefully some more people will post some good suggestions for you.
Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I'm not really big on sneakers but knew I'd be doing alot of walking at WDW so I bought a pair of well made sneakers (leather breathes best) and broke them in by wearing them food shopping, etc. By the time I got to Disney they felt great. Don't forget to pack some sort of foot spray for inside the sneakers when you take them off each night. This way they won't end up with a bad smell. Enjoy your trip. princess:

Flip Flops are fine i wore them every day during the 2 weeks i was there and had no blisters at all. But i guess it depends on the person...

I bring a variety but usually end up in my Pretty Rugged Teva sandals and I don't get any blisters. I brought my flip flops for a change and after walking in them for only an hour, I started to get a blister so they were only for walking to the pool.

I have had no luck at all with sneakers. The socks bunch up and cause me to get blisters no matter what I do.

I finally don't get blisters anymore thanks to the Teva sandals.

Good luck

Tevas and tennis shoes, but whatever you do... make sure they are *broken in* and comfortable for you long before you try to use them at WDW !!

I walked all over NYC in my Dansko's... They look great with jeans... and comfort.... Let me tell you I wear them more than I wear sneakers! When we go to WDW next Christmas I will be bringing both my sneakers and one of my pair of dansko's... (I have brown, black and green and will be purchasing red)I am a music teacher and am on my feet all day every day and also have had bouts of severe lower back pain.. Before I bought and started wearing Danskos... I have had no problems in the almost 2 years I have been wearing them!

Ok, it's been a while since I have been but I am going in January. I hate shoes - with a passion. Barefoot is my thing. Ok, I know I can't go barefoot in the parks but I have seen many post that they wear flip flops and sandals. This I can deal with but are there any ride restrictions with flip flops/sandals? I have been to other parks (no comparison to the wonders of Disney) but there are some rides that they won't allow you on if you have flip flops. I guess they are affraid of flying shoes hitting people. Is this a concern at Disney - like I said it's been a long while since I've been there and don't remember much about the rides.

As for sneakers they kill my feet, I am flat footed and every dang company wants to put them arches in their shoes and it really hurts my feet.

Ok sorry for the gripe along with the question.

Try Keen sandals/shoes. I have a pair of their Mary Jane style, and even if I look a little like a clown (they are pretty wide-looking), my feet NEVER hurt after long days in the parks. They were made by an ex-Navy officer, so they have nice toe guards (so if you are wearing their sandals and get run over by an SUV stroller, it won't hurt!) and they are waterproof! Plus, the sole molds to your foot after a while. And they come in a toe-guarded flip-flop version too!

You can find them at the Walking Company store or REI. They aren't cheap, but they ARE comfy!!

I can wholeheartedly agree with Celebgrrl. Keens are the most comfortable shoes I have found so far. They are made for doing some serious walking. I have tried five different styles of Keens, and they are all extremely comfortable. They do have a funky look to them, but it seems to really grow on you after a while.

Another vote for Tevas!! I would not accept any imitations -- Sierra Trading Post often has great deals on them and the Zappos site someone listed also has good prices. I bought a pair for each member of the family 2 years ago and no one had blisters or shin splints (big problems for us before). I can't say that about even the best sneakers I have owned. I think the Tevas even help my back!

Wear good supportive shoes.. It is so easy to think, oh my feet will get hot, and wear sandals. I did that, and with all of the walking and riding, I messed up my back (seems funny that shoes can affect your back, but believe me, they can). Don't worry about being fashionable, no one is looking at your feet anyway. It is more important to be comfortable and healthy.
