I am about an inch shorter than DF and I want us to both be about the same on on Wedding day BUT I also want to be comfortable. What do you all think is the best shoe choice?:confused3

I can honestly say that finding the right shoes was harder than anything else- including the dress.
Are you lookign for strictly bridal shoes or somethign you may want to wear frequently?
I am big into comfort! I am a big fan of Stuart Weitzman- they are on the priceir side, but if you can find them on sale they are great.
A ot of people like Kate Spade for comfort.
I bought a pair of gold MB high heals (4"-I need the height) because I wanted soemthign I could wear a lot and fit my strange arch. I don't even want to think about how much I paid for them, but I love them!

White crocs? Just kidding!!!

Make sure that whatever you wear is broken in and comfortable. If your dress is really long I know some brides that wear heels for the ceremony and pictures and then change into sparkly altered Keds, flip flops or ballet slippers for the reception.

Those sound like GREAT options. The price doesn't matter as long as they are comfy! I keep hearing about a kitten heel...I am guessing that is the lowest one...I wish I needed the height being 5'9 is driving me CRAZY!!!!!!
Thank you for the advice so far

I wore a pair of white sandals from Payless shoes.

They were leather, no heal and just strappy enough to look right with my dress(even though you couldn't see them)

The price was right & they have such cute styles now a days.

If you wanted to dress them up, craft stores are loaded with stuff to dress up shirts, etc....all you need is some glue and some time & you have yourself an original shoe no one else has:goodvibes

I did one boo boo.....i should have broke them in a little better(leather)

Anyway...if you need something soon, since sandals are off season, try DSW, nordstrom rack or something like that.

I hope my info was helpful
Have fun planning

I went with rocketdogs shoegirl, its a flat with white sparkles...
DH is about half an inch taller then me...so with hair and tiara i didnt want to be taller...so kind of had to find a nice flat

I definitely understand where you are coming from as I am 5’10”. My one additional word of advice other than what’s already been mentioned is to make sure if you go the two shoe route – i.e. one pair for the ceremony and pictures and one pair for the rest of the day - make sure they are the same heel height. I found that while I didn’t have any issues with my dress with my heels on but did when I put my white flip flops on because although they were “supposed” to be 2” high them seem to cause much more issues than my heals which were between 2 ¼ to ½” high. At that point my wedding shoes were KILLING my feet and I didn’t care that the flip-flops were causing me more issues because my feet didn’t hurt anymore.

I guess I actually have one other warning, if you think you are truly going to be more comfortable in the flip flops or flats or whatever shoe you might pick as you after all the formal stuff is done shoe, just go for it and get your dress altered accordingly. Because I am 5’10” and most wedding dresses are made for someone 5’9” (or at least that was the case with my designer), I had to have more length added to my dress. Once it was altered to fit up top (it was too big when I got it!) and I was in it properly, as long as I got 2 ½" heels I was fine, so I went that route to save my great-aunt the time, energy and effort to hem my dress because as you can see from my signature it would have been quit difficult due to the band of color and embroidery. Looking back I wish I had just it altered and gotten a lower healed shoe that would have been more comfortable for me, especially since I don’t wear heels on a regular basis! (gotta love IT jobs!) Because it is not easy to change shoes once you are in that dress – and my dress wasn’t even that poofy!

I'm a tall girl, and my DF is practically the same height at 5'11". I've never been fond of being taller than any guy that I was with, so I knew heels were not an option for me. As much as I may have wanted them, it just would kill me to be towering over my DF on our wedding day!!

I went with the ballet slipper option. I picked some with ribbons to tie up my calves. They're really cute and I'm loving the fact that I'll be comfortable too! I didn't spend a ton of money, they were only $26 . . . which was another major plus! I believe I purchased mine from www.bridalpeople.com.

A lot of flat bridal shoes are just not attractive to me, so the ballet slippers were an ultra cute option! princess:

Oh my gosh, I hear you guys! I'm nearly 4 inches taller than my boyfriend, and I'm obsessing over how we would look at the altar. I feel so guilty about being bothered by it, so it's great to hear other people worry about the same thing.

Calanniebu, I just noticed that your groom is standing on a paver in your sig pic - what a great idea! Although I'm pro'lly going to have to carry around a stepstool for mine... :rotfl:

I'm wearing flip-flops :goodvibes I am a good 5 inches shorter than DF but I want to be comfortable. Can you get any more comfortable that flip-flops ;)

Oh my!
I have the exact opposite problem- I am 10" shorter than my DF. Need to make up some of the height difference with the shoes!
I hope the hunt goes well!

Wow, I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one taller than my DF. :cool1:

I am 5'11" (I know, yikes!) and he is about 5'6". I keep joking that he will have to wear Elton John platforms! I am definately wearing flip flops. Honestly, who will know? :bride:

I am wearing a pair of Skechers flats that look like Mary Janes. They are really comfortable and I think I'll get use out of them past the big day. Plus I am only 1" shorter than DF so no heels for me! (I never wear them anyway, too uncomfortable!)

Ha Ha I'm about 11 inches shorter than my DF. I'm wearing about 3 inch heels and then pink Converse for the reception. :rotfl:

I am most comfortable in boots so I will be wearing a pair of Victorian style white leather and lace granny boots for the wedding.

We're actually both on the paver. I'm actually 4" shorter than my DH. I wouldn't have been able to handle a guy shorter than me ... but that's my hangup. Luckily, I found my DH who's taller and abosultely perfect for me! :)

Great choice! I also wore Converse on my wedding day. Our Rolls Royce chauffeur kept commenting on my "slippers." :teeth:

Glad I'm not the only one! :rotfl: No one knows. Well exept you guys. Can't wait to see people's reactions. I think I will put them on after our first dance. So I'm not so much shorter than DF.

Here are my shoes I wore the whole day. No one saw them at the ceremony or for the photo shoot except for Randy Chapman because he snapped this picture. At the reception during the garter toss is when everyone saw them. They were dying laughing. They said they were wondering when the real Tammy would show up. I am such a tomboy and I had on this princess dress, so they all thought it was great that I had on indoor soccer shoes. It showed my personality. Also they were so easy to walk in and I had no worries about slipping or twisting my ankle. I love to wear heels but I didn't want the pain to show in my pictures. My feet never hurt once! It was wonderful....plus no one knew until I showed them. If you don't think your shoes will ever show then you should go with something comfortable. You always hear about Brides' feet hurting. If you go with a different kind of shoe make sure when you try on your dress for your fitting that you wear them. Think of the possible times your feet might show and do all those things to make sure you don't see the shoes. I had my friend watch me walk around and dance to make sure you couldn't see them. Plus I talked to the lady who did the alterations so that she knew I didn't want my feet to show.
