Our 4th graders are going for THREE days to Mackinac Island and that area next month!! They've certainly come a long way from when I was in 4th grade and spent two hours at the Capital in Lansing, MI!!!:bounce:

Here are the trips I remember going on:

1st and 2nd......I don't think we went anywhere
3rd...a half an hour train ride
4th.....the Capital
5th......Detroit to the "Car" museum (really known as Greenfield Village)
6th thru 8th......don't remember going anywhere
In High School.....Iwent to Chicago twice because I belonged to the International Club.
Senior Year.......New Orleans!!!!:D

Where did you go on school trips???

I remember Jamestown (4th), Washington, DC (7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th), a couple of amusement parks with my choir/chorus class, and NYC (Senior Trip.)

I remember going to the zoo a few times, the natural history museum, plays, the Cleveland Justice Center (8th grade), Art museum, Health Museum, etc.

My favorite field trip and the one I remember the most was in 3rd grade. We visited a Dan Dee potato chip factory and saw how potato chips were made. I think I remember it the most due to the bag of potato chips they gave us on the way out.;) That was pretty big for an 8 year old.:D

We went to the water treatment plant one year. That was a real winner! Tour the local Coca Cola plant, went to Lake Winnapasauka, and went to Oak Ridge. I think that was it! We didn't do too much at all!

I remember a trip to Lansing to the capital too!
Growing up about 10 miles from Greenfield Village we visited the village & Henry Ford Museum on a regular basis!
I remember a tour of the Detroit Diesel factory too.
We also toured the 7-up plant that was in the town I grew up in. That field trip was cool to elementary kids because we got pop at the end!
I also remember going to downtown Detroit my senior year on a humanities field trip. We went to Greektown & we toured some old cathedrals.

I remember going to:
The zoo
The capital
Oak Alley Plantation
The post office
Train ride

I remember going to some farm in 3rd grade, I can't remeber the name of it but I do remeber loretta lynn had cooties and no one wanted to be near her........I still to this day dont know what cooties are.:D :)

I was an Air Force brat and lived in England from 2nd Grade through about the halfway point of the 6th Grade. I had some really cool fields trips. My fifth grade teacher especially felt we needed to absorb the culture as much as possible. We did a few really nice cathedrals (where she taught us how to do brass rubbings). We went to Hampton Court Palace, Windsor Castle, and a couple of other very old castles whose names elude me at this time. I can't even remember all the places she took us. It seemed like we were somewhere different every other week

Didn't do any field trips in Junior High.

In High School, I was in JROTC and we used to do a four day field trip every year to one of the Army Posts in Texas, Okalhoma, or Louisiana. I learned how to drive a tank at 14!!!

My German teacher used to take us to Oktoberfest (no drinking though ;) )

The only other field trip was my Senior year of HS when my Anthropology teacher took us to the zoo to look at the primates.

Mostly the points of interest in Washington D.C. and Baltimore, which were really boring as a child.

My favorite field trip was in 12 grade, we went to WDW! :)

I went to Catholic school in the days of 50 kids in the classroom. The furthest we went was church. On a regular basis. Our 8th grade trip was New York. No high school field trips, either.

I was in Girl Scouts, though. And we went a lot of places.

I went to see an exhibit of Salvador Dali's jewelry collection when I was in Middle School. It left a huge impression on me. I ended up with a love of jewelry:) and worked for a time as a jewelry buyer for a large dept. store. Still love jewelry:)

Our big one was in 8th grade we went to Washington Dc for 4 or 5 days.
I also remember going to Rocky Point Amusement Park in maybe 5th & 6th grades. The Swan Boats in Boston, the zoo in the next town, the Museum of Science, were a few others.

The ones I remember are:

4th grade we went to Trenton and visited the State House, etc.
5th grade we went to Phila. fot the Franklin Inst. and Liberty Bell
6th grade we went to NYC and saw a show at Radio City Music Hall, visited Central Park, etc.
8th grade I remember going to New Hope, PA to see a play.
In HS I went to NYC with the year book staff to seminars at Columbia U. for 3 days. We got to explore alot of the City.
A month later I went to Germany, Switzerland and Austria with a group of students and one teacher.

As a girl scout we went to Washington for 4 days.

Just one in the 6th grade. A day trip to Boston and the Museum of Science.

I remember going to:

The Children's Festival
The Children's Museum
The Zoo
The Planetarium
Various Museums
In grade 6 we went to camp for 3 days
In grade 9 we went to North Dakota for 3 days with band
The Local Nature Center (a place with man made lakes, trails, wildlife etc)
Cathedrals
The University for their sports complex (like raquetball courts)

On "fun days" (like the end of school, or right before Christmas) I remember going to:

The movies (I remember The Lion King and The Santa Clause)
The rollerskating rink
Ukranian Cultural Center to paint Ukranian Easter Eggs
Swimming
Bowling

In University I've taken a course in manufacturing and we went on plant tours... including aerospace manufacturing companies, a plastic factory and a nuts & bolts factory.

I'm sure there was more over all the years, but I've had this post reply up for a pretty long time already trying to remember more.

Aquarium (3rd year in a row...)
science center
library
fire station
Knott's Berry Farm (couldn't ride any rides though... )
farm
OC Performing Arts Center
Sea World
5th grade - Outdoor Ed for 5 nights in the mountains
8th grade - Washington D.C.
10th grade - Utah (for MUN competition, not a field trip)
11th grade (March 2003) - Russia and Finland (for MUN again)

The 2 that stick out in my mind are in 7th grade going to the science center in Toronto, and in 5th greade going to the Miller Brewery in Millwaukee  Bet that's not PC anymore!:p

I remember going to the public library in fourth grade - it was so close we walked there. In 9th grade (jr high) the honors students went on a bus to the high school for honors orientation. In high school I went on "choir tour" each year which was two nights - we stayed in the same state and stayed in homes with students from our host schools. Swing choir also did lots of performances around town that we got out of school for. I also got selected for a weekend choir honors program that was in a big city about 250 miles away.

That's why hearing about all these field trips amazes me. When and where I went, the trips were only for special interest groups or honors. I went tons of places with girl scouts and youth group though.

Philadelphia Zoo
Knoxville Zoo
Oak Ridge Museum of Science and Energy
Cades Cove
Tuckaleechee Caverns
Opryland
Some park in S NJ or PA (???)
Ghosttown in the Sky (nightmare!)
