What rides can you opt out of?

My MIL and FIL will be making their first trip to WDW with us a week from this Saturday   ! MIL has a pacemaker and has had back surgery and will not be able to ride some rides. I wondered if anyone knows which rides you can go all the way thru the queue with riders and then opt out of the actual ride? I already know that you can for TOT and EE. Any others?

Rides I've done this on are RRC (as the last poster mentioned), Space Mountain, and Mission Space. DH did it on Star Tours. (Sound like a wimp don't I... I have actually done them once, but that was enough.)

I think walk through might be available on all of them, you could ask the cast member before going in.

I did on Space Mountain. When you enter the area where they start loading there is a door I used. And I really wanted to ride but it was a humid day and waiting in dimly lit stuffy tunnels made me sick.

I've opted out of Star Tours twice. LOL
I forgot what the ride looked like till I was in there. I made a run for the door as soon as I remembered. :rotfl:

Tower of Terror too...I am taking my mom in April and she has back issues so she will be opting out of several rides, but wants to see the theming and preshows. I was told they send them out the chicken exit at ToT and they end up right where you come off the ride so you should be able to find your party again easily after you ride.

EDITED: Sorry! I just noticed you already knew about ToT!

I don't think there's anything you can't opt out of at WDW -- pretty sure they have allowed for that everywhere, and anyway, if you had to, you could fight your way back out the line (I did that at Goofy's Barnstormer, to go back and be ready to take pictures, but am sure that I could have stayed in line up til the ride and gotten away from it then). Once you get on the ride vehicle, and it's started you may be stuck, but up to that point you can get out, one way or another.
They certainly don't want to force anyone to ride something they've changed their mind about.

ToT also has a wimp elevator ;)

To be honest I chickened out at the last minute of a few rides - never had a problem at any of the parks. They can't force you to go on a ride if you don't want to, so don't worry about it :goodvibes

You can get out of all of them. Some are easier than others but you're not 'stuck' once you get to the front. Keep in mind though, the ride exit and the 'chicken' exit might be in totally different locations (not near the front) so plan a place to meet before you ride.

My son wanted to see the queue theming on a couple of rides, but he was too short. We thought we'd go through so he could see, then I would ride while my sister took him out through the opt-out 'door'. But because he was too short, they wouldn't let him through the queue at all. We were told my sister would have to take him around the building to the exit area to meet me there. He was a bit disappointed that he couldn't see the queue line stuff.

So, for at least some things, you have to be able to truly ride the ride to get to that point.

I bet every ride at WDW allows you to do this, even Small World, the scariest ride of all!

I know for sure you can get out of the Haunted Mansion. We went in and were able to "bail out" with our daughter before you get into the little cars. (Sorry, my memory of the attraction is very vague as this was my only encounter with it. Cars, train, whatever it is...... :confused3 )

Good luck!
