for?? I just realized when I made ADR's that I counted our 2 year old as having a credit. I am glad I figured it out before we got there. Anyway, we are flexible with the resturants so what would you pay OOP for we are a family of 8. Me, Dh, my 11 yr old, 8 yr old, 7 yr old, 6yr old, 4 yr old and a 2 yr old.

We are on the free dining plan do our food is pretty much covered except for dinner this one day. What would you suggest.
TIA!:thumbsup2

I think the resteraunt which will be cheapest. For your family. That is what I would do. :thumbsup2

For our small family of 3...I wouldnt mind paying OOP for Rainforest cafe because we love the theming. But for a large family I would say the cheapest!
Have a great trip!

I may be wrong but I don't think Rainforest is on DDP. If you want to go there, get online and join their club. You get a discount, voucher for free food and garaunteed priority seating for $15 for one year
What other places are you considering? Go on allears.net and look at the menu and prices

Well, usually when we go out to dinner it is never cheap for us. :rotfl: :rotfl: Especially at Disney. My kids love the RFC but I was thinking about trying something different but I wasn't sure what resturant was affordable. :confused3

I will go to allears.net and check out the menu:thumbsup2

In your case paying OOP for an entire meal may not be the best choice. If your have a child who just wants one thing(not app., entree, dessert) at a meal, just pay OOP for that. Same might be true for you or your husband. So it might not be an entire bill, but rather a couple of items each time. Hopefully its cheaper and easier to swallow, pun intended. :)

I would also suggest just paying OOP for individual items throughout the stay that your 2 yr. old eats.

Also, another option would be to call CRO and ask if she can be added to the plan. Of course, her dining would be free...but you'd have to get whatever type ticket the rest of the family purchased as well. If all you have right now is the 1 day base, you could just save it for next time (well you could do that with any ticket -- but it would just cost more money up front than purchasing meals OOP for her would be). I would just call CRO and ask what the options would be to include the DDP for a two year old that eats her own meal.

I'm sorry to ask, but was does OOP stand for. I looked on the abbrveations page and it is not listed....lol...

Out Of Pocket. :goodvibes

Don't worry. Soon you'll be hip to the lingo. And spouting off acronyms like they were going out of style!

OOP = Out Of Pocket.

To the other poster... both allears.net and allearsnet.com work fine, and take you to the same place.

I asked about adding our 2 yr old to the dining plan and I was told not until he is three. They said if I wanted him to have his own plate we had to pay OOP for whatever meal we ordered. I forgot to ask about the buffets. We are doing Crystal Palace for breakfast one morning and I meant to ask if he could share off of my plate or do I need to pay for him a plate (which is not a problem, I just want to be prepared.) He sometimes doesn't eat a lot but at other times he eats tons. My guess he would barely eat at all because of all the characters. :confused3

So should I go prepared to pay for him a plate at buffets?? TIA!:wizard:

Kids under three eat for free off their parents' plates at buffets. No need to buy a separate meal for him.

We always are on the dining plan but the one place we always pay out of pocket for is Rainforest Cafe in DTD..We love the theme, the atmosphere and in our opion the foor is outta this world....We love it and my daughter thinks is is awesome.......RAINFOREST CAFE. and Planet Hollywood are our fav's but PH is on the dining plan.....

When/if you decide to pay OOP for a meal and think that of course the cheapest meal would be the one to choose, make sure you actually add up what you'd order at each meal depending on whether you DDP or OOP. I have to pay OOP for one meal (because 7 TS just wasn't enough :rotfl: ) and at first I thought that would be Sci-Fi. So I got to thinking that we'd split this and share that, etc... at Sci-Fi. Doing that, there was about a $7 savings between Sci-Fi and a buffet breakfast. Then it dawned on me that instead of having to share and split and not get entrees and desserts at Sci-Fi, to go ahead and pay OOP for the breakfast buffet because that's the same price no matter what. I hope this all makes sense.

Also, wanted to clarify that someone said your 2 year old can share off a parent's plate at buffets. Your child can actually have his own physical plate - they don't have to literally share from the same plate you are eating from.

Our younger son will be 18 months old on our trip and I made several buffet reservations (Crystal Palace, Ohana, Hollywood & Vine, Chef Mickey's) knowing that he'd be able to eat for free. When we use our other t/s and c/s credits, I plan to order for him separately and pay OOP if I can't manage to find something to share with him. I figure either me, my husband or our 5-yo can give up a chicken finger or two and some fries for him! Even if I do order him his own plate (maybe at Le Cellier?) it would take quite a few OOP meals to equal paying for the 1-day base ticket I'd have to buy for him (~$60) in order to qualify him for a dining package.

Hope this made sense and hope you have a great trip!

If this is a repeat sorry b/c I didn't read all of the post. As far as the ddp you get your $$$ worth by using it for menu dining. We usually have meal that is OOP. The meal that we pay for is the cheapest breakfast buffet meal based on the prices on allearsnet.com.
