So what are your favorite restaurants that you love for some other reason than he food because there is awesome entertainment or there is an amazing view or there is a good view of a show or parade or the decorations are just 99% of the fun. You know, places that are once in a lifetimekind of dining experiences regardless of what you order. We love rainforest cafe, scifi and biergaten for their atmosphere, california grill for tue fireworks, and boma because they have foods ( good or bad) that you could never try unless you went to Africa. So what are yours and why???

*** Sorry I accidentally posted this in the reservations forum and I meant to post it in the general dining forum, so its on that board as well.

None. As much as I enjoy ambiance, theming, and good service the food is too important for me

I agree. If the food isn't good all around, I wouldn't go back. No sense in that. Atmosphere and service matter, but food is no 1.

It would have been Garden Grill in May because my daughter requested only one place - "the restaurant the turns in a circle"; but I think I have talked my pasta loving DD8 into trying Via Napoli instead.

Apparently, based on alot of reviews I've seen, I'll be doing exactly that when we go to Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner. I'm not excited about the food at all after looking at the menu and especially seeing pics, but it's the castle!! You have to do it once, right?

Another person here who would not go back if the food was bad.

No amount of entertainment, atmosphere or character interaction could make me spend the money Disney charges to not enjoy the food...period.

I agree with most of the others - there is no kind of ambiance or entertainment that will make me pay for bad food.

For me its 1900 PF Dinner. I was very disappointed with the food. But I loved loved LOVED the atmosphere and the characters!!!!!!! It was such a good time. :goodvibes

Planet Hollywood. The food is less than stellar, but I just love being in there!:confused3

CRT and Chef Mickey's! DD would be very disappointed without eating in the castle (I wonder when she'll grow out of this - I'm hoping never :)) and Chef Mickey's is a family tradition we will do yearly:thumbsup2

Honestly, none. It is just too expensive not to eat SOMEthing

BUT I am not picky. I have enjoyed a meal at Ryan's, Sizzler, Sweet Tomatoes/Soup Plantation, Golden Corral, Wendy's, Taco Bell, etc. I make pasta and have used (doctored up) Ragu sauce on top many times and ate it willingly. So, in other words, if I think the food stinks...that is pretty bad ;)

At all the character places, I don't expect the food to be wonderful, but I do expect it not to stink. We have been to Medieval Times 7 or so times in the last two years, and we keep going back (when we get a discount ;) ), and the food is nothing special there. I mean it is tomato soup, roast chicken, a rib, and a potato and an apple turnover for dessert.

Anyhow, I guess it depends on what "stink" means.

Also, even at Disney, for me, there are too many places to eat that I wouldn't really eat at some place that doesn't have SOMEthing memorable. I won't return to Chef Mickey...I can see Mickey somewhere else with better food and ambiance (a school cafeteria atmosphere in a hotel I don't care for is not good ambiance to me), so why waste my time there :confused3

You completely nailed it for me!! You took the words right out of my mouth re: Chef Mickeys. The food there is terrible....the atmosphere is dreadful, very much like a school cafe (as I commonly refer to it as that). Like you said, i wouldnt go there for the characters when i can see them at better restaurants. My son wasnt even crazy about this place. For such a nice hotel, how could they design such a lousy restaurant with horrible food? I dont understand? :confused3

None. There's absolutely no justification for paying for bad food. I think Disney will eventually learn that lesson. The food does not have to be gourmet or special in any way other than good, basic food. It worries me when people will tolerate lousy food just for a certain experience.

Whew, I thought it was only me. I mean who goes to a restaurant knowing the food stinks?

That's why I never, ever understand when people post stuff like "you don't go to XXX for the food" uh, yeah, I do. I go to a restaurant with every intention of enjoying the food.
