what resorts will be available?

my home resort will be bwv but i dont get to pick my next years vacation until late dec or into jan. what are my chance of getting rooms at home resort (would like a feb/march trip and summer as well) and also what resort usually has the most rooms available(hoping for a studio/1 bedroom). also 1 other question(sorry).... i live in ny and would like to stop at hilton head for a few days on my drive down..., is it easy to get a room there as well??.. thanks

Generally, Old Key West will always have the most rooms available due to the size of the resort. January is off season at Hilton Head, and therefore you should have a better chance than at other times of the year, but I will let HH owners and others with more experience with HH reservations answer more precisely.

I think Feb/Mar will be difficult to get what you want if you are only booking 1-2 months ahead. Of course you may catch a cancellation. OKW is the easiest to get in due to its size. Are you sure DVC will work for you if you can't plan 7-11 months ahead?

Make as broad or many days reservation as you can that fits what you think you might be able to get then try to change when the time comes. Keep in mind banking windows as well. Good luck.

We just got our contract in May 2002 and didn't think we could get anything at BWV our home for (JUL 21ST -26TH) 2002.

I had banked pts to use by July 31, 2002 or lose them. At 2 months out (middle on May) I call on a Friday 17th and they had nothing at BWV, I didn't ask about the other DVC resorts because we wanted to stay at BWV . I called back on Monday 20th and was told they had 14 openings at BWV and if we wanted we could also get into BCV. We booked a 1-bedroom pref, epcot view, top fl at BWV ( we got 4th fl luna pool great view #4024). I did ask our CM how many rooms were available when I called and she told me.

So don't give up hope on one call if they say they have no openings, just call back again on another day. A few ressies are cancelled every week so just keep calling.

I agree with Dean, I would make a reservation based on your first choice and take it from there. It would be better than not making one at all. HH should not be difficult in Feb/March but summer would be. HH is also mostly 2 bedrooms, a studio or 1 bedroom is hard to get in busy times.

I always take a summer trip, and you will be able to get rooms at most of the resorts, except BWV, with a couple months notice, provided you are flexible about when you are going. You will be able to pick up something, although you may have to settle for the type of accommodations that aren't what you want. HH is almost impossible to get into in the summer if you are looking for anything besides a 2 bedroom, and even they are scarce. I have tried at the 7 month window eight times now, and still have not gotten to stay at HH in the summer, even though I only wanted two nights.
