What resorts are easy to get 7 months?

We are looking to book our first trip. We bought resale at SSR but was wondering if we would still have other options available. Wanting to go in the beginning or mid November

least likely do to Food and Wine Festival would be Boardwalk or Beach Club. Most likely would Be SSR or either Jambo House or Kidani. OKW might also be in the easy list.

From the start of F & W until after the holidays are busy DVC times so depending on when you choose to go, and the size of the room, as well as the number of days, the availability will be different. I know that Veteran's Day weekend is busy.

As mentioned, getting BCV or BWV are less likely at 7 months. The big resorts, SSR, OKW, and AKV, will probably not be a problem since there are a lot of options and rooms and I put BLT, LV and VWL, right in the middle of that.

I am going to guess that VGF will be very tough, and if anything is open, it will be a night here or there.

And, booking right at 7 months is going to give you a lot more options than say at 5 months out...so that could play a role as well.

Good luck!

If there is somewhere you'd really like to stay but isn't available at 7 months, make sure you waitlist it. Waitlists that we placed at 7 months have come through about 3 months before our trips. We managed to get BWV that way for Columbus day weekend last year! We own at OKW and as it's usually available at 7 months for the times of year we visit, so we don't mind just waiting until exactly 7 months and seeing what else we can get online at 8AM--we've gotten BCV during Flower and Garden festival, and got VGF for this past February. So you 'can' get other places at 7 months--but don't have your heart set on 1 particular place. And for your original question--SSR, AKV, and OKW will have availability longer than all the others as they have the most DVC rooms.

Thank you for asking this Bflo Dave. I was wondering the same thing. I have family that will only stay at OKW. We rarely stay there. They want a 2 bedroom for the week before Christmas. Since I don't own there, we have to wait until the 7 month window. They are upset I told them we had to wait because they think there will be no rooms left by May. I didn't know what to tell them.

Based on reports, in 2013 there was decent overall availability before Christmas within the 7 mo mark....it's not like you are trying to book the insanely a DVC popular 1st week of Dec.

But, when you are set on only 1 room category, it does set you up for disappointment.

I know. I am a little frustrated that I am stuck with only one resort option and 1 room category. I would rather go with whichever resort is available.

Availability changes, Disney changes, by design 98% of the DVC rooms are booked all year long. It's a best guess until you book, there have been times when we expected availability and it was restricted, other times that were supposed to be hard to get had availability. Go figure.

That is why over the years we purchased our favorite resorts to book at 11 months.

Thank you all for your response. My wife says that tinker bell likes her and will share her pixie dust, so everything will be fine, and to just let it play out.

Tell them it's not available, and ask what their second and third choices are. If it turns out you can get OKW, you can just tell them that you waitlisted and you got lucky.

No reason why your family has to be so stubborn about it.

Tell them to buy their own DVC points, at OKW. :)

Book your home resort now, and switch to OKW at 7 months. If it doesn't open up at 7 months, give them a choice if OKW isn't open (which I think it probably will be). Either take what you have booked, or let them know you can cancel and they can stay home for XMAs.

:thumbsup2 LOL

Typically there is availability at OKW, SSR, and AKV. But as pp said, you could luck out and get BCV during F&W or BLT at Christmas (like we did this year). You just never know. But I've found that those first 3 resorts have the most availability at 7 months.

I don't know your situation other than you've posted but several things come to mind. If they are going with you and are paying for their portion, maybe they'd prefer to rent on their own. If they're going with you and not paying, they have quite the nerve as presented, again we're not there. Either way I'd be concerned that there will be other issues and expectations that can't be met. IF they tend to difficult in other situations, you might want to buckle up. You're the owner and if you are not going, it's basically the same answers. I can't imagine having difficulty getting OKW that week at 7 months out but you never know. I'd be temped, just for kicks, to tell them initially that it was not available. I do agree with booking your home resort as a backup but would hesitate in borrowing any points so you might need to book a day or so less in some cases.

You tell them they can book their own damn rooms if they are picky, that you are not a reservation service, that DVC is a timeshare with restrictions, and while you are pleased to do this for them, you will get significantly less pleased to do this for them if they add a bunch of restrictions - possibly so less pleased that you'll say "lets forget the whole thing - I can make a few thousand renting the points and not taking any of you."

Then you make a tshirt that says "no one is going to treat me like a doormat" on the front and print a spine on the back.
