What rental car company did you use your last trip?

I wanted to add that no matter which company I use, I sign up for their frequent renter program. That way they have all my drivers licence credit card and additional insurance preferences in advance. Renting is so much quicker! When I picked up my car in LA from Thrifty (over Awards weekend) I walked by a long line of about 20 people to the garage and the Blue Chip counter. I was helped in less than a minute and my car (an upgrade fom a mid-size to a luxury!) was already assigned.

Last car we rented was an economy from Budget. Costs way too much money but we were a captive audience. Didn't have a choice. For a 24 hr. rental, it costs over $100 for the economy. They had us and I think they knew it. This was in Texas when our cruise was moved from Louisiana to Galveston. I understand the situation but I'm not happy with what we got or the attitude of the rental person. It was basically "Take it or leave it". The lady at the check out booth was extremely nice though. I don't want to paint all the employees with the same brush. She was polite and very friendly. Even gave us each a lollypop ( :) ) and smiled us on our way.

Hertz. I find the service and cars great. (I will also you National at MCO.)

I rented from Hertz yesterday at MCO. I waited about 2 mins for the bus to pull out and we were at the lot in less than 10. I walked to my car and I was on my way.

I also got upgraded several classes for free. I always use Hertz.

I used Avis on my last trip. Also on the one before that. No problem with them and using their "Avis Preferred" service means I don't have to go to the counter first - just directly over to the garage, show my license and get my keys.

You'll find many on this board using Alamo, but I refuse to deal with them. Way too many stories of poor customer service - like trying to force you to buy their "insurance" or selling you an un-needed upgrade - for me to consider patronizing a company like that.

Or leaving you stranded when their car breaks-down on the way to the airport to return it.
