What reminds you of "Home" while your not there??

Simbas Mom,

We bought it at OKW in "Conch Flats " store(souvaneir shop). They have different size prints and of different views. They only sell the prints, we had it framed at a frame store in our home area(Michaels);)

is the debit from my checking account every month.:D:wave:

We also found a copy of "LLLLLLLambert the Sheepish Lion" which the kids insisted on watching whenever we were in the room at VWL.

O my gosh!! Not strange at all, donald@home!! I have some shower gel that I ONLY use on vacation and, yep, one whiff and I'm *right there*.

Same thing happens to us, only with sunscreen. Not much need for that up here in NH ;)

We've also got a GE dishwasher, just like the OKW ones.

What reminds me of home when I am not there is my scrapbooks of past trips. I sit and look through them all the time. I see my home, BWV and my pictures of the Welcome Home signs and it just takes me back....;)

Thanks for this thread!! I'm going home for the first time at the end of September and I'll now be looking for ways to incorporate some of the magic at home. You've all got some GREAT ideas!!

We have our framed prints of the resorts in the living room.

Also have a great pic of the Big Dipper pool as the wallpaper on our computer and have set up a slide show screensaver of pics we've taken at the resort. Can't wait to add to it in Dec.

Wilderness Lodge wallpaper on my computer.
Totally Mickey master bathroom.
Buzz Lightyear son's bathroom.
Camping trips to the Adirondacks during the summer.
Was attracted to green cupboards while planning our kitchen last year - opted for some kitchen gadgets in the mickey theme - including the musical toaster!

ncligs,

I think I saw the print you're referring to already framed in the corner of the store by the window against the wall by check in. Don't remember the price exactly but seems like it was in the $65-85 range framed for the big one. They had stacks unframed near the entrance coming from Olivias, don't remember the price.

Hanging out on the board here also helps feed my excitement!! Especially seeing pics of others trips. I just returned from OKW and have a shot from our balcony looking toward the Hospitality House with a storm off in the distance we had been watching when a rainbow appeared. Thought I'd post it when I got my camera hooked up. It was beautiful.

Right now we have a print of BWV hanging in our bedroom....but I think we're planning to redo the bedroom in a sort of VWL style....so the BWV will have to go elsewhere...probably the living room or kitchen. I was looking for a print of the VWL last Jan...but they only seem to have prints of the main lodge and nothing with the villas on it! Oh well, I may have to go with the main lodge print. I was going to get this cool pinecone floor lamp at Ames...but now they're going out of business and don't have it anymore. I'm sure I'll find something.

The biggest things that remind me of "home" are my scrapbooks....since I'm still working on the one from our Jan. trip! LOL

But we do have lots of little Disney reminders all over the house...screensavers, framed pressed quarters, stuffed animals, those spinner thingies the kids get in the parks.....too much stuff actually!

Since we are talking about things Disney decorating your homes, I thought I would mention that we have a totally decorated Buzz Lightyear bedroom for my son.. A Bambi and Winnie the Pooh Bedroom for my infant daughter and what we call our Mickey Room for our guest room. The Mickey Room is really my favorite as I have all my Theme Park Anniversary commemorative pennants lined up like a boarder close to the ceiling plus all my anniversary licence plates and lithographs from the Disney Store's movie promotions all over the walls. The bedspread is covered in Mickey Heads. I walk into that room and really feel immersed in everything Disney. I think we will be needing a bigger house soon, not because *we* are out growing ours but I am running out of rooms to display all my Disney things :)

I called the room looking for my son the last time we were at VWL. I programmed the number into my cell phone so that every time I scroll by the number and the words "Wilderness Lodge", it reminds me of home.

Also, my husband signed up for a Winn Dixie card the last time we were there. It hangs on my key chain next to my Stop and Shop card, and will be ready the next time we go.

Last Christmas I asked for an Aaron Copland CD because his pieces "Appalachian Spring" and "Rodeo" are played in the music mix that they use at VWL, our home. Whenever I play it, it takes me right back!:D

I have one of Ann Irvine's "Key West Magic" prints hanging at the end of our hallway. Every time (10 dozen!!) I walk down the hall, it is a constant reminder of OKW. No place like home...

We do the shower gel thing too. It really works! Another scent that takes me home is sunscreen.

I also have about 200 photos in Webshots that rotate all day as my wallpaper and screensaver.

I enlarged and framed some of my "arty" shots of the World.

I have special "Mickey incognito" jewelry-- Mickey jewelry that doesn't look like Mickey jewelry. ;)

My car has the Mickey Imagineer antenna topper, a "DVC" sticker on the back, a Mickey head American flag and my newest addition: my license plate which reads #1DISNEY!!

:)

I could go on but I'm getting embarrassed.

I would like to add that I do NOT have fuzzy dice hanging from my rear view mirror, Mickey or otherwise!!

:p

DVCajun - You are TOOO funny!

Since discovering these boards upon returning from WDW in June, I can't get enough. I am reliving my vacation through photos and discussions from all of you. Other things that remind me of home: my "free" print of BCV and the BCV wallpaper on my work computer.

I even bought ice cream cones when I went shopping last week because when I looked at them on the shelf in the store, it reminded me of DH and I walking along boardwalk and stopping in for an ice cream before going back to our room.

My seat at our dinner table looks at 2 Boardwalk Villa watercolors, a Hilton Head, Beach Club Villa and Old Key West Lithograph! Down the wall, I have a full sized poster of the Disney Magic. Every time I eat dinner, I gaze upon our properties. LOL!

I always buy a scented lotion when going to WDW. I don't like wearing perfume when on vacation. When I get home I take the lotion and put it in a small bottle to carry in my purse. When I occasionally use it I'm immediately reminded of our last trip to WDW. Also the scent of Hawain Tropics reminds me of Florida and our trips to WDW.
