What Religion Doesn't Allow You to go out after dark on Friday?

You can cross Jehovah's Witness off the list. I was raised as one and they didn't have that rule.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) does not have any rules like that either. We do have beliefs regarding keeping the Sabbath day holy but that is on Sunday for us.

My first thought is Seventh Day Adventist. My friend is one and I remember when we was in HS, she wasn't allowed to work, watch tv, talk on the phone etc. from sunset Fri to sunset Sat. You basically just go to church and maybe visit someone's house, but that's it.

Orthodox Jews

I lived in a neighborhood where there was a strong Orthodox Jew residents. Many stores and shops were closed on Friday nights as well.

If not Orthodox Jew, I would say Seventh Day Adventists.

I am jewish - and I have blue eyes and blond (ish) hair.

Jewish was my first thought (based on Friday night only), but I don't think that's it. Not to stereotype, but she's very blond and blue-eyed. Also, her whole family would be involved, which they aren't (obviously since her son still plays). I'm wondering Jehovah's Witness? Mormon? 7th Day Adventist? I just don't know.

So what do Jews look like? Horns? Hunchback? Third eye?

I'm just wondering because last time I looked in the mirror, I had blonde hair and blue eyes. :confused3

Jewish people don't all "look the same".

Good question. I thought being Jewish was a religion, not part of an ethnic group.

My DBF is Jewish as well and he is blue eyed and reddish blonde.
I'm blue-eyed and dirty blonde

I have met many people who tell me I don't "look" Jewish.

It's really annoying.

In my post #15 I asked people to ignore the comment regarding her appearance. I did not mean for it to come across that way and as I stated we have many friends who are Jewish.

If people are Orthodox Jews with blond hair and blue eyes I apologize for anything I said that may have insulted you.

We have an Italian last name - I'm not at all Italian but people tell me I look more Italian than DH!

Why can Jewish comedians say all Jewish people look alike? Like that chick on the MTV awards?

My mother's side of the family is non-denominational Christian and they celebrate the Sabbath from Friday sunset until Saturday sunset. I'm not a very religious person, so I don't really observe the Sabbath like I should, but if I did, I also would want to observe it Friday night until Saturday night.

if the woman is observant enough seventh day adventist that she won't even attend her son's football games-chances are you might be able to tell by a conspicuous lack of her ever wearing jewlery. extreemly adherant do not even wear wedding rings (there's no ring exchange in the wedding ceremony)-but that's lightened up at bit to people wearing VERY modest wedding rings.

i mentioned this thread to dh who grew up sda and he was surprised (unless only the mom practices and not the kids) that a very observant member mom would even permit the son to participate in an activity that would meet on sabbath, and if they were EXTREEMLY observant probably would not permit him to even be on what i'm assuming is a standard public school or group football team (the church has some beliefs about the negative aspects of competative sports, and have only in maybe the last 15 or 20 years allowed competative sports to be in their schools, and those are structured such to facilitate/encourage group achievement and cooperation vs competition or winning).

Technically, people can say anything they want! That's the great part about free speech.

It can still annoy people, though.

But, I'll be big enough to admit that in the Northeast there is a certain "look" that a lot of Jewish people have.

Although it's not usually about hair or eye color.

Ain't that the truth! :rolleyes1

In a town near where I grew up, all the married Jewish women did look alike. They all wore the same color and style wig. :lmao:

Didn't read all the pages, so the question has probably already been answered, but it is Orthodox Jew. One of my good friends has to be in by sundown on Friday and can not do anything on Saturday until sundown (which includes driving, working, computer, etc...).
