What presents did you buy your parents at Christmas growing up?

We bought or made her a gift every year during our childhood.
One of the most memorable was costume jewelry from Woolworth’s that looked like emeralds and diamonds. Poor dear. It was a set that included earrings, a brooch and bracelet 😂She kept trying to put off wearing it as it was “too formal” but we finally caught her. She put on ALL of the stuff walked to the corner and up the street where she took the junk off and put it in her pocketbook. My older sister claimed it when Mom died and displays it on pillar candles during the December holidays.

Old spice soap on a rope dad took back on the ship.
We got mom, each other and grandparents stuff at the church fair. We made a lot of items . I sometimes got mom a craft , fudge or something from the white elephant table. Which for all I knew she donated! Lol

I only have one memory for some reason. My dad took my sister and I to Whitefront on Arden and bought my mom either a sweater or a coat. I'm sure we did something every year, but I just remember that one.

When I was a teenager and had a job I gave my dad the holiday Budweiser Stein. Did that for years until I no longer could find them in the stores. My mom was always something different every year and nothing memorable apparently because I can’t recall a single gift.

My sister and I had a tradition of giving our dad a huge plate of dried fruits and nuts. We didn't just buy the pre-packaged stuff. We went to a store and personally selected all of his favorites from the various bins. Then we arranged it on a big plate and wrapped it up. This was always the last thing we bought before Christmas so it would be fresh when he opened it on Christmas morning. His favorites were dried apricots, dates and pecans. I would love to be able to make that plate again and see the look on my dad's face when he opened it.
