We bought BWV in 1998, but have only been there 3 out 14 trips. We didn't plan it this way we just fell in love with VB and have been exploring other resorts. So for us, about 79% our trips have NOT been to our home resort.

Some members have points everywhere and are at a home resort wherever they go. Some bought where they want to stay and that is what they do. Some bought just for the bargain points and don't intend to stay at a resort.

This simple poll can't capture some of the complex ownership scenarios, and explanations may be needed.

VB became a home resort after a non-home trip there. About 25% of our visits have not been at a home resort. Since our non-home visits have usually been shorter, these constitute probably about 10% of our DVC time. However, because you are asking about trips, I am in the "under 30%" category.

Bobbi:)

We are in the "less than 10%" category. My guess is that might increase a bit as we'll probably want to sample AKV and CRV if they ever come on line. We own at VWL and BWV and I would imagine we will primarily continue to stay at those two resorts for the balance of our contracts or lives, whichever expire first. :)

We own @ SSR. We have only taken 2 trips with DVC and both have been to BWV (we love it there). Our next trip, we're hoping for BCV, the kids love that pool.

I voted less than 10% because we stayed for four days at BWV and two at VB. Then I just remembered we have stayed twice at SSR and hope to stay there in Nov. And when AKV opens, my husband will want to stay there. And when CRV opens, I'll want to stay there.

Otherwise OKW, VWL and BCV are pretty much our favorites and we own at all of them.

We rarely stay at anything other than our home resort, so I voted the less than 10% also. Now that I have 2 home resorts....;)

We've been DVC Members since 1992---and since there was only one DVC resort way back then, you know what our home resort is. We've stayed at all of the other DVC resorts--except Hilton Head. But we've only stayed at each one once--to try it. It's always back to Old Key West for us. it's just like home.

I voted less then 10%, there should be an option of stayng at just your home resort. All 9 of my DVC trips so far have been to SSR.

About 12% for us.

50 or so stays at OKW.
2 stays at SSR.
2 stays at VWL.
1 stay at VB.
1 stay at BWV.
1 stay at BCV.

Looking forward to trying AKV as soon as it opens and HH some day.

30+ stays have all been at my home resort, with a few cash nights at POP

We have homes at both OKW and BWV and most of our trips are at one of those. If we are craving a little peace and quiet or want the big rooms, we head for OKW. For our annual trek to the Food & Wine Fest we head home to BWV. We have tried VWL,HHI and Vero once each and Saratoga twice.

We own at OKW and BWV, and usually stay at BWV, but have stayed once each at BCV and VWL so we're in the less than 10% bracket. I want to try AKV one of these days, but otherwise we'll continue to spend most of our time at BWV...we're too much of Epcot fans to want to stay anywhere else!

Ok, I didn't really know how to count mine but I will tell you what I voted and why.

I voted less than 40%. It is actually 33.3% if you count staying at Villas.

2 trips to SSR and 1 to BWV. However, I did use points to stay in the Tower at CR so by point usage it would be 50%. But actually DVC stays 66.6% at home and 33.3% not.

I have or had 34 nights booked with DVC points

12 at our home BoardWalk or 35% so I stated less than 70 percent ( 65% at non home resort)

The other nights were at
2 at Coronado Springs
4 at Hilton Head
4 at Disneyland Hotel
12 at Vero Beach

Peace,
G4L

Even though we love our "Home" resort, the Beach club villas, my family and I always said we wanted to try every DVC resort. Last August we finally tried the VWL and now it would probably take a rampaging homicidal moose to get us to go anywhere else. So I voted less than 70%.

I didn't vote in the poll because I don't think my response would have been a valid response. I bought SSR last October, but before I bought, I stayed at OKW on rental points, and stayed at BCV on rental points. I loved both places. The atmosphere at each is so different, and I like that. I'm super excited about staying at SSR this November. I've read all the SSR threads, and it seems pefect for me. I'd like to stay at each on-site DVC at least once (if I had the time and money, I'd also like to try all the non-DVC deluxes). Then I see myself spending most, or all, of my time laid back at SSR.

We first bought at BWV in 1999, stayed there a few times and then bought into VB..

For the last few years, we have been exploring different resorts... HHI, OKW, BCV, and even Fort Wilderness...

Generally, we will go to our home resorts every other year.. In the off year we will go exploring... Inevitabily though, we end up getting "homesick" and wish we were at either BWV or VB...

I misread the question and actually voted less than 30%, when actually I should have voted about 70%.

We bought at BWV because it was our favorite at the time. It still is, and I am glad that is our home resort, but we have ended up at other resorts most of the time for misc. reasons.

Overall, we have actually stayed most often at VB and HH, believe it or not. HH because it is drivable for us in a day and makes a good 4-day winter escape to escape the cold and for me to go play golf. VB because we usually tag on a few days there before/after our WDW trips.

At WDW itself, however, its been 50/50, staying either at BWV or VWL (a close second favorite) for its proximity to MK. As the kids get older, I can see staying BWV most often since they could appreciate EPCOT and MGM more and use the water slide. Maybe with the occasional BCV thrown in for SAB. I haven't stayed at OKW yet, but like it based on my tours of the place. I can therefore also see an occasional OKW trip for larger family/group trips since the units are larger, points are lower, and the place is generally setup better for larger groups; or if we go to WDW without the intention of visiting the parks much (might happen, I guess :confused3). I have toured SSR and don't care for it enough to ever pick it over OKW, so any stays there will only be out of necessity. We plan a small add-on to AKV, so to stay there every couple of years.

Good lord man... we drive to HH from VA and it takes 10+ hours. I can't imagine a one day trip from Ct. :scared:

Well, less than 24 hours is technically a day....

It takes us about 12-16 hours depending on traffic and how often we stop. A long day, sure, but doable.
