I bought some autograph books for the kids off ebay for our first upcoming trip. They didn't come with a pen though. Could you tell me the best one to use? I am afraid a sharpie will bleed through the pages. What do you all use?

We use one of the GIANT pens. It is easy for the characters to use (b/c of their gloves/costume). We got sooo many compliments from the characters. Several pretended to keep/hide the pen!! :teeth:

I tried to paste a picture- but I don't know what I'm doing- so it won't work. If you google 'giant pen', you'll see what I mean.

It's easy for us to keep up with- we didn't have to 'dig' in the back pack or stroller to find it! I think I bought ours from the target dollar spot but I have seen them recently at the dollar store.

:rose: I found princess pens in multi color ink fot the girlsat Dollar Tree and A Dumbo pen for the DGS at Walmart, they will be stocking stuffers this Christmas as will other things I find.

This is important very important.

If you buy no other thing at Disney the BIG FAT PEN is the one you want to buy.

1st the characters have no problem handleing it and getting the auto down on your paper nice and neet.

2nd as it is hot and ink does weird things the Pens go bad and stop writing. If this happens in line the CM's will tell you to just run over to any store get another pen and come back to the front of the line .Or they will let your kids stay while you run over (there's a store within 20 steps of most characters) and get a new one.

The shops ask no questions just tell you to get another one.

we use the fat gel pens!!! with glitters toooo :cool1:

I've always used the pens with the character shapes on the end when I get auto's. The only problem with them is that I have to usually scribble on a page with it for a couple seconds before the ink starts flowing. Since I usually don't wait to get too many auto's each trip I've never felt the need to invest in a big auto pen. I'd just make sure the pen is long enough and big enough that you could grip it and sign your name with it wearing a winter glove.

We always use the big fat sharpies, without bleeding through.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to the Dollar Tree tommorrow and will look. Also at Walmart. If I do not find anything, I will purchase at WDW. Does anyone know how much they are there?

I found 3 fat pens in a package at the dollar store today. They are really fat but short. Will these not work?

Most definitely get the Sharpie black permanent markers with a sharp tip.
We had one (accidentally brought it) and it seemed to be the best thing. Also the characters seemed to love using it. I think it's easy for them to hold. My daughter would have them use a new page each time and not use the back of the page (it didn't go through the paper but you can see it slightly on the back as the autograph books paper is fairly thin.
THe sharpie never runs out and it's definitely a better looking signature than with a pen. Try it at home and you'll see the difference.
Anyhow we were sooo glad to have it and I would reccommend it! :wizard:

At 5 Below I found Sharpies that "click" instead of having caps that can easily get lost, for $1 each. I bought four (two of each of my children's favorite colors) to take in the fall (I hope they don't dry out before then!).

actually, jumbo sized pens are good, but fat pens (in any size) are really hard for some characters to hold (i'm an entertainer at disney and i hear lots of complaints about having problems with different pens), sharpies are good- the click kinds are good, but any type of short pens are also hard to hold/grab.

Thanks for that info. We had a few problems with the ones we bought for thew kids that had characters on the top. Sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't

We got the giant Mickey pen at MK for $5! It is worth it and we kept it for our next trip. It is the official autograph pen for trips to come.
