When we went and stayed before we had a card in our room to give us a $200 Disney gift card if we toured dvc. We had no time to go but I have time this year and was thinking of doing a tour.

Oh, I may have been unintentionally misleading.

We "toured" BWV just as a pop-in one evening. Can't remember what we might have gotten for that, perhaps a FP+ choice or two. Were in the villa for less than 15 minutes; another group arrived, and we left.

We then went for a scheduled appointment a couple days later. That's what we got the $100 gift card for. We were interested and ended up spending well over an hour, with all our questions. Not sure how quick it would have been had we tried to move things along.

HTH!

In 2010 we did the full tour and spent well over an hour with them and all we got was a couple of fastpasses and ice cream...:crazy2:

How long does the tour last?

If you want any of the larger items like a giftcard or FPs then expect it to last a minimum of 1 hour not including your transportation, waiting for the guide, ice cream time, ect. It will be at least an hour of walking through the models and sitting and talking about pricing and units. I think they normally tell you it is about 2 hours plus the rest of the stuff I listed.

To get the gift card or can I just pop in when I have time. I would love to own into it. I have read some up on it. Do you know how much you have to have down to buy in. I know that is done on points but can you trade it into rci. I have seen a few on there sight. Anyone know.

you would need to schedule a tour in advance (and you might want to verify that they are offering gift cards for touring, sometimes you won't get a gift card regardless).

make sure to do more research here as you will get better info than you will on the tour.

Do you know how much you have to have down to buy in.

10% down. (and then you will have the opportunity to pay 10-15% interest for up to 10 years on top of the extra you paid to purchase directly from disney - in other words, you really should look into buying resale.)

I know that is done on points but can you trade it into rci.

you can trade DVC pts into RCI for other timeshares regardless of whether you purchase direct or resale. (trading out of the system is not a great deal but it's an option.)

I don't think I would ever buy a timeshare direct, its much smarter to buy it on "sale" through someone else. Thanks for the info.

We toured the last day of vacay on Dec 26. Parks were at capacity. We couldn't get a "perk" for touring. I mean, we bought but didn't get a perk for our time.

How long were they good for the day or the rest of your trip. I almost think that would be worth way more then $100. I still have my for with us and we'll give you$200 post card that was in our room. I wonder if they would still honor it. I should call and see.

Last yet when I did VGF tour, only thing I got was can of coke, well I was already a DVC member at that time, no FP either.

I got 9 fast passes and a 50 dollar gift card for touring grand Floridian in the beginning of august this year.
I found the comp is primarily determined by the person you contact to make the reservation. They were offering either 3 fast passes OR a 50 dollar gift card.I talked the gent into giving me 3 fast passes each for all 3 of us and the gift card even though I was the only one who went on the tour.

At DL at the beginning of August we were offered two fast passes. We didn't end up doing it, so I don't know if we could have gotten more or not.

I actually spoke with a guide over the phone on multiple occasions. I never did the tour on property. The guide sent me a $25 Disney gift card by fed ex.

I believe the "offer" they're giving is $165 per point...:rotfl2:

We were there late August and we got 12 Fps and a $50 gift card. We were there for about 2hrs.

Just had a split stay at disney. Staying at port Orleans was offered $50 gift card to attend. Staying at Contemporary was a $100 gift card. For the record, we went to the $ 50 gift card one...then decided to buy resale BCV. :).
