What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

I did what any sane person would do when confronted with Kermit’s cousin hippy-hopping all over their bare flesh at sunrise. I screamed my freakin’ head off.

Froggy took off! I leapt to my feet and did some hopping around of my own. I opened the door to our room with the intent of running inside to safety, but was confronted with that darn curtain. I got all twisted up in it and finally broke through to stumble onto my face into our lovely hotel room.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Oh my goodness I just about gave myself a nasal soda enema reading that! I would probably have reacted the same way despite also loving frogs and lizards. I used to have a lovely 3' iguana named Sebastian, who later got a name change to Savannah when he laid eggs.

Loving your TR and I of course had to check out your other reports, especially the WNTW one (love Stacy and Clinton!)

super update! your tr always makes me lol.. then I lol because i'm lol..

Thanks! I'm glad I got caught up with yours too. Your little Jack is so ridiculously cute!

Oh my goodness! That frog! I think I would have continued running, straight into the shower, to wash off all the frog residue! I think frogs are cute from a distance. But up close and personal, no way!

When I was a kid, the only pet my mom would let me have until I was about 9 was a garden slug that I kept in a plastic container in the backyard :rotfl: I used to let those things crawl all over me, so the residue from the frog certainly didn't bother me. It was more the shock of it all!

So cracking up out loud at the frog story!

Great update! Can't believe the wait was so short for Toy Story Mania! Lucky girl you are!

Thanks! I have to say I think the sign was wrong, we probably waited in line for about 30 minutes. Still better than two hours, though!

Hi again, I'm feeling a bit under the weather today so I stayed home from work. I finished catching up on your TR, it's great so far.

I would love to have a girlfriend who likes WDW, to have a girls trip. No such luck. At least my DMom and DD8 share in my love of Disney and don't mind going. My DS14 has said he doesn't want to go next year, I have decided it's going to be okay if I leave him behind. Sad mom...

I went on Ebay this morning...and I found the red Alice bag you had taken away from you. I really liked the colors and sequins, (sorry Staci) I may have to add it to my collection.

I am planning on going to WDW next year, last week of August and I am worried about hurricaines too. I want to get free dinning but I wonder if I should risk it. Last year we went the first week of Sept. and the weather was great. I wonder if I should take my chances again. I keep second guessing myself between May and August so I havn't made reservations yet.

Wow, a frog in your hair. I would have jumped too. I am affraid of snakes and I've heard of people seeing them at their front door. I always send DS out the door first. ;)

I love traveling with my friends and it stinks that they never want to go to WDW. Last year I didn't go to WDW because my friends and I went to Arizona and Key West instead. Both trips were awesome, but I missed WDW! I was so happy when Jakkie said she wanted to go. And Jack is already talking about going back :cool1:
I love that bag! The only thing I don't like about it, is that it doesn't have a zipper or anything to close it. And I know what you mean about being anxious about going to WDW during hurricane season. It's such a gamble because if you do luck out and have nice weather, it's WONDERFUL. But you just don't know....I think I will go at this time of year again if I can go for at least a week again. We had a couple rainy times, but they weren't a big deal because we had enough nice days to make up for it.

I can't wait to do Toy Story Mania in December. I'm going to be running over little children to get there at rope drop! :rotfl: (just kidding people, I would never run at WDW).;)

I LOVED that ride! I wish we had ridden it more. I can't believe 8 days still didn't seem like enough! :rotfl: Oh well, I was there for 4 months on the college program and that didn't feel like enough either!

Spent the last hour reading the whole thread-- sounds like you had an amazing time, despite the Frog Incident of '08. I probably would have passed out and concussed myself on the railing.

Can't wait for more!

Oh, and I am holding you personally responsible for any overly large purchases made at Basin when I go in Feb!;)

Thanks! That poor frog, I felt so bad that I scared him :rotfl: I forgot to add that I could kind of see through the railing that there was someone sitting out on the balcony next to ours that morning. he jumped up when I started screaming, so I made sure to include a disclaimer in my yelling. "AAAAH! AAAHH!! IT'S JUST A FROG, DON'T WORRY! AAAAAH!" :rotfl:

I can't believe you didn't get there first thing in the morning and there was only a 10 minute standby wait! in June, the standby line was already and hour at 9:30. At one point during the afternoon, we saw standby times at 150 minutes :scared1: I'm sorry, I can't imagaine waiting 2 1/2 hours for ANY attraction!

We only did TSMM as fastpass so we missed most of the queue themeing. It looks like a fun line.

I remember going to Disneyland about 8 years ago and encountering a 3 hr wait for Splash Mountain :faint: We did not ride it that day! the line at TSM is worth walking through once, but I am glad I was able to FP it the next time I rode it.

The entire resort would hear me screaming if a frog landed in my hair!!!!

Hehehe I think we were lucky that security didn't come pounding on our door! definitely could have been worse....what if we had a room overlooking the pool? Then I would have had an audience

No worries, I too would have freaked out at something landing in my air and moving around...that is just crazy LOL even if it is just a frog LOL

This frog, though, was more than just a mere frog. It was the BIGGEST FROG EVER. It's probably about 40 times bigger than that picture I posted (just a guess)

Wow! A 10 minute wait for TSM. That's impressive. :thumbsup2

I love frogs too but I still would have freaked out if one landed on my head. :lmao:

Yeah honestly anything falling out of the sky and landing on my head would freak me out! Even if it was something delightful, like a baby bunny or a chocolate chip cookie.

Hi, wandered over from Punkin's TR. I was intrigued by your title and have read almost all of this TR. Very fun.

How excitting and wonderful it must have been to be on What Not To Wear. I have always thought they are too hard on people, but they do give great advice. I laughed because I get teased for my Disney bags ALL the time. I actually have the Mickey one they threw out. I probably have about 20 Tinkerbell ones. (she is my Alice) They couldn't get me to part with any of them. I think only true Disers get how special these things are to us. I don't have an Alice bag but I thought it was cute. You really did look very pretty after your makeover. I liked the sassy new haircut. I hope you bought the red shoes. Do they let you keep the make up?

I love your cat's name. I have two cats and they hate when we go away. I have to live with thier snooty behavior for a few days and then its back to normal. Did you find any cat treats while at WDW?

Being on WNTW was so fun. I did get those red shoes they showed me wearing at the end - but I almost never wear them because they got me the wrong size, they were a size too small! I had them stretched at a cobbler but they still pinch :headache: And Carmindy gave me a ton of makeup, which was awesome because the crew told me she usually doesn't do that!

I remember when I came back from my first long vacation after getting Mixi (I was gone about 11 days) she came running to greet me and climbed up into my arms when I came home. I think she thought I had abandoned her! :cat: they did have cat treats at WDW but they were $6 for basically a regular pack of treats with Figaro's picture on them. Mixi is perfectly happy with her $2 bags of Greenies so I didn't get those. I did get catnip toys that she LOVED (and has hidden all over the apartment so I can't find them and take a picture  )

Yikes that frog would have freaked me out too if it just randomly landed on me. I had a similar but much nastier wildlife freak-out on my trip. :rolleyes1

Hmmmm....could you referring to a certain winged creature from Animal Kingdom? :scratchin

Actually looking back at your TR, this picture of yours reminds me of my buddy from the Wilderness Lodge!

Oh I like iguanas too!! I have never had one but my best friend in high school did. It was named Godzilla  What on earth did you do with the iguana eggs? I guess they wouldn't have hatched....can you make hard-boiled iguana eggs? Hmmm....I'm not sure, but I think I might be crossing a line here.
I cannot imagine having a pet that was 3' - don't some iguanas grow to be 6'? That's bigger than me!

Subscribing!!

OMG I love your report!! Your froggy story was hilarious!! I would have run screaming back into the room, tripped over the bed, broken a foot and ended up in the ER with a cast and ruined the rest of the trip!! Glad you didn't do that! :rotfl:

Can't wait for more!!

i love, love, love frogs too!!!! they're one of my favorite animals. i used to buy frogs and lizards whenever i was feeling down, too! wow....we have a lot in common. at one point i had 3 fire belly toads, 2 tree frogs, a white's tree frog, a red-eyed tree frog (who cost $100, by the way!), 3 tokay geckos, an alligator gecko and a savannah monitor. the lizards and frogs were in separate aquariums, of course, otherwise the frogs would've been lizard food! funny that it doesn't bother me to pick up a tokay gecko, who, if it bites you, won't let go unless you either cut of its head or shock it with cold water, but i won't go NEAR a bird! :confused3

don't worry - i've screamed before when a frog's jumped on me too. it doesn't matter if you like them - you're just not expecting it.

glad that you guys got to ride TSM! we loved it.

Uh oh, you're not that girl on Everybody Loves Raymond who Robert was dating, are you? She kept a whole bunch of frogs in her bedroom and ate flies. :scared1:

I must say, after all of our kidding about your bird fears, I have learned something new about you tonight. I never knew about the frog thing. You need to come and do a guest appearance in my third-grade and share a bunch of cool frogs. You would be a huge hit!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: this is probably the closest i've ever come to wetting myself reading the DIS. Your TR has made me laugh lots of times but this time i'm almost choking with laughter. Just the thought of inserting a disclaimer into panicked screaming... :lmao:

Well, I finally read the entire WNTW thread, downloaded and watched the video, and finally caught up on the TR. Nearly had a biological malfunction laughing at the frog story. Looking forward to seeing how it all played out.

I loved this ride. Something about smashing all those plates was extremely satisfying.

Isn't it? I really need one of those at home.

Sorry - I've been MIA while catching up on things, but I'm getting back on track and I'm still reading and enjoying!

Hi V! Yes, I always feel a twinge of disappointment when the smashy plate part of that ride ends. I could do that for hours.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: this is probably the closest i've ever come to wetting myself reading the DIS. Your TR has made me laugh lots of times but this time i'm almost choking with laughter. Just the thought of inserting a disclaimer into panicked screaming... :lmao:

Well I'm glad you only came close! I have to say I chuckle when I think back on that morning. Poor scared froggy and confused balcony neighbor!

Oh wow you are an expert! I would love to have a lizard again someday. Mine was a dragon agama lizard but he passed away after less than a month and it scared me from getting another :sad2: Later on I explained what happened to a reptile specialist at a pet store and she said it sounded like he was already sick when I got him. Now I mostly play with Jack's roommate's pets. Although here's something kind of spooky - he had a pet snake named Greg (I think it was a baby boa constrictor) and last summer he didn't put the top on correctly and Greg got out....we've never found him  Sometimes I worry I am going to be sitting on the couch and Greg will slither into my lap unannounced or something.

I must have been a sight yelling my head off while getting all wrapped up in that curtain! I am really lucky I didnt' stumble the other way off the balcony and break my neck

Nope. it hasn't yet on my TR and is not bat related. I can tell you it happened on our MK day. ;)

Oh no!!! I will be watching for that story....:surfweb:

Ok, lurker coming out to say that this made me laugh so hard I woke my DD up in the other room. :rotfl2:

Yes, we had an ADR at Kona! Because I absolutely had to try the famous Tonga Toast!
We checked in just a few minutes early. But there was a big stack of people waiting around….looked like they were running behind. We hung out around the entrance, when two women ran up to us. “You are Kelly! From What Not To Wear!” :rotfl: Jakkie and I couldn’t believe that I had been recognized twice in the span of about 20 minutes. It was probably because I looked very much like the ‘before’ Kelly in my Alice purse and Alice shirt. I was really surprised that they remembered my name and everything – one of the women even wanted a picture. There’s my 15 minutes of fame, y’all :cool2:
Eventually we were called and shown to our lovely corner booth

I just came across your trip report and am reading through it and find out I'm in it...it was my Mom and I that came up to you outside Kona Cafe and asked for a picture....we were waiting for our group of Disfriends who were joining us at the Kona Cafe to celebrate my birthday and I saw you and said to my Mom...that's the girl from What Not to Wear...I think her name's Kelly...my Mom said go up to her. I just wanted to say thanks to you and Jakkie for being so kind and for allowing me to get a picture with you. The picture turned out great and will be a part of scrapbook page for my birthday celebration.

um....i don't know anything about the raymond chick, but i defintely don't eat flies!

just wait until you see what happens at the end of our MNSSHP night. it involves me making friends with a little green guy that likes flies!

in college i took a speech class and one speech we had to give was a "how-to" speech. mine was "how to build a terrarium." i seriously brought in my terrarium (i took my frogs out, of course) and re-built it for my speech. got an A. then my professor volunteered to help me carry it back to my car and DROPPED it!!!! :scared1: glad my animals weren't in there.

look on the bright side: maybe greg found some woods nearby and is happily sleeping under a big, damp, dark rock right now. ;)

Let me just add that frogs and lizard are okay, cute in fact but, if I never again had to run into the "Greg's" of this world I would be a very happy girl. I am TERRIFIED of snakes. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I could never come to your place in case he appeared. Slither is a bad word.

Punkin - you surprized me aswell, you Go Super Frog/Lizard Girl !! :cheer2:

Ok, lurker coming out to say that this made me laugh so hard I woke my DD up in the other room. :rotfl2:

 Thanks - I have been laughing about it ever since it happened!

That's so funny because later on I was wondering if you were on the DISboards, because anyone who's really into Disney has to be on here! It was really nice to meet you and I'm glad you found my report!

I hope so! I'm sure he wouldn't have lasted long in the house - Jack's cat would've gotten him!
 your terrarium! did it smash into a million pieces?

I am TERRIFIED of snakes. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I could never come to your place in case he appeared. Slither is a bad word.

I think bugs frighten me more than snakes - I would rather have Greg climb into my lap than a cockroach :scared: An office I used to work in had a rat infestation - that was also horrible....ah, city life! :crazy2:

 your terrarium! did it smash into a million pieces?

yep. all over his classroom floor. he had put it on the edge of a chair to get a better grip, not realizing that the bottom was glass too, and the corner of the chair busted through it. he felt really bad and gave me $20 so i could get a new one. that thing cost WAY more than $20, but i didn't say anything. ray (my then-boyfriend, now-husband) was NOT happy because it was his and we had kept all the animals at his house since my mom was scared of them.

We were heading in the general direction of Tower of Terror, pausing to wander in and out of shops
IMG_5103.jpg

And also checking out the magic of Disney animation. I think we skipped the movie and just checked out the back room, where we learned what characters we are – Jakkie:
IMG_5104.jpg

and me:
IMG_5105.jpg

You know it really all comes down to whether you tell it you want to eat breakfast with nice people or eat nice people for breakfast….and then I was distracted by something delightful!
IMG_5106.jpg

Yay, my precious! I wish there were more WALL-E things at WDW. I didn’t really buy any merchandise because I didn’t see any I liked in the limited selection. I know they briefly were testing out a robotic WALL-E in Disneyland, I hope he becomes a permanent part of the parks.
Next we had our picture taken with the big cheese himself, who was hanging out all alone in a corner!
IMG_5108.jpg

We got fastpasses for Rock N’ Rollercoaster and then stood in line for Tower of Terror. I am always reminded of the first time I rode this ride, on a school band trip 12 years ago. My friends and I went on it three times in a row, and then while standing in line for our fourth ride, we ended up having to wait in the little pre-show room (where you watch the video) for an unusually long time. Finally a CM came in and said cheerfully “A safety cable snapped, but we fixed it and you’ll be heading on to the elevator shortly!” We said “NO THANKS” and took the chicken exit….I always like to tell this story to whomever I’m in line with at TOT now. They usually do not appreciate it.
Eventually we boarded our elevator, with the cutest little boy sitting behind us who kept saying to his father throughout the ride “Daddy, this is fake, right?” We were in the second row, and our ride photo was pretty funny. I am screaming my head off, and Jakkie has her head turned to the side and is staring up at the guy sitting next to her with a totally blank look on her face. She doesn’t even remember turning to look at him.
Onto RnRC, where Jakkie looks bored in the photo again. I love this ride. From there we hightailed it to catch the next Beauty and the Beast show. Jakkie loves this movie, she once said she would like to have a B&tB wedding but doesn’t think the theme song would be good for the first dance
I am so glad we made it to this show because it was my last chance to see Four for a Dollar. They were awesome. It was fun because Jakkie had no idea who they were so she was surprised when they came out at the beginning and did their thing where they pretend to be sound technicians. They did “Love Potion #9”, “Drift Away”, another song I didn’t know (maybe an original? Think it’s called “It’s Alright”), and then sang “When You Wish Upon A Star” to a little boy celebrating his 4th bday. It was so bittersweet.
Here’s a couple of short video clips:
This song is great….I’ll have to see if I can find it on CD or something

I love the part in this where the guy on the end goes for a high-5 and everyone leaves him hanging

After the show we were hungry and thinking about our options for lunch. Jakkie asked if we could go to a table service restaurant, and I did something not-so-nice…I laughed in her face.
“You want to walk into a TS restaurant during free dining? Good luck with that!” I chortled smugly. Did she not remember our disappointment at Epcot Mexico just a few nights earlier? Personally, I couldn’t handle that rejection again. We were near Mama Melrose’s at that point, so I figured we’d stop in to humor her. We walked in….to an empty restaurant. And were seated almost immediately.
So I ate my words, and also some really awesome food. I had never set foot in Mama Melrose’s before because I’ve been eating Italian food my entire life and usually like to try different cuisines when I’m on vacation. I also hadn’t heard many good things about this place. Well, we loved it!
A little dark for picture taking…but don't those lights in the first picture look like a bunch of tiny hidden Mickeys?
IMG_5119.jpg

IMG_5122.jpg

We shared a tomato and mozzarella appetizer, which was yummy. Jakkie got the 4 cheese pizza, which was divine. One of the 4 cheeses was gorgonzola. Yum.
I had the chicken parmesan:
IMG_5125.jpg

Our waiter Pat was really nice, and the décor of the restaurant was fun. I would definitely go here again!
We were near the Muppets 3-D show, so that was our next stop after lunch. We just missed a show, but that turned out to be OK – I realized I had never seen the full pre-show before. It was so much fun, and I had a blast taking pictures of all the crazy props:
IMG_5126.jpg

IMG_5128.jpg

I always love the part where Rizzo the Rat pretends to be Mickey Mouse, hehehe. We got great seats in the center of the 2nd row.
Next we hit up the Great Movie Ride
IMG_5130.jpg

IMG_5133.jpg

At first I was disappointed when I realized we had the gangster storyline – I haven’t had the cowboy one in years! In fact the last 2 times we had the same girl playing Mugsy, and she was terrible. But today we lucked out….we had an awesome Mugsy. He was dead on.
IMG_5136.jpg

I was disappointed when we reached the Indiana Jones room and he left.
Jakkie is a princess girl, so Voyage of the Little Mermaid was our next stop. I was nervous because I had only been on this a couple times before, and on my last trip to WDW I remember getting soaked by FREEZING water during one part of the show. I was shivering for some time. Also our Ariel’s voice cracked on the big note in “Part of Your World.” Ouch.
This time I enjoyed it much more – they didn’t drench us in cold water, and the singers were all very good. I always loved the puppets in “Under the Sea” here too.
Next stop is a tradition for me at DHS:
IMG_5148.jpg

Yum. Don’t tell my dentist. Jakkie got a shortbread cookie and we sat on a bench to eat our treats. I was covered in caramel by the time I was finished. Ick.
And soon it was time to head out! We were back at the hotel by 4p….

Coming up: Saying goodbye to Jakkie  And – what would YOU do with six hours alone in WDW?

I love a good junky apple from MGM!

Too funny about the Great Movie Ride, we had the gangster too. And it was a girl Mugsy, and she was meh. I wonder if it's the same one? And all the time I was thinking, man, I haven't had the cowboy story line in years! Too funny! :lmao:
