What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

oh do i understand the hurricane fear. i was with my hubby 2 kids, mom, dad, brother, sil, their 4 kids and that tropical storm fay was wreaking havoc, let me tell you my mom was ready to cancel the trip ( crazy me wanted to leave ny early so at least we would get to disney) but i understand because i am a little neurotic okay a lot and my mom even more so.

Great update - sounds like a successful shopping trip!

I've never been to Basin either - looks like a great store!

Urgghhhh, that's a big cliff hanger!!!!!!!!!

What happened?:confused3

Love the update, btw!

You'll have to wait and see ;) It's pretty exciting...at least it was at the time :rotfl:

It's wonderful! I have a dangerous addiction to bath products and scented candles, so it's probably a good thing I didn't make it back there again!

It never occurred to me until right before we left that the reason hurricane season is cheaper is because you might end up getting caught in a hurricane! I figure as long as I can get to Florida I'm OK, I have heard that Orlando is one of the safer places in the state to be during a hurricane because most of their buildings were built to be resilient against storms.

I'm so happy to see you updated today. I have been going crazy cleaning our house today to get ready for our upcoming trip and finally sat down to relax. It was so nice to read your update.

I have goto go to Basin on our trip. I am so excited to get Mickey soap. :lmao:

Can't wait to read the rest of your report. :goodvibes

Thanks! I wish I had gotten even more Micky soap. I keep eyeing the one I bought for my aunt and wanting to open it up myself :rolleyes1

Loved the update. :) Won't tell Stacy about the shoes. :rolleyes1

I had your episode on our DVR and I watched it today. They were so darn mean about the bags! :lmao: You got the back though at World of Disney! DH and I were cracking up!

Haha thanks! I have taken some of their advice and don't bring my Disney purses to work anymore. I don't wear the shoes to work either! (Well sometimes I do...but I change when I get to the office!)

I have a question for you. What day was this? I don't remember it raining in the afternoon while I was there. Maybe I was napping? :lmao:

While we were down there I had this attitude towards the hurricane. If it strands us here, OH WELL I AM IN DISNEY! :lmao:

Basin was truly awesome. I forgot about my massage bar I have hidden away. I must go dig it out!

This was....Sept 2, I think? Maybe it wasn't raining, just cloudy and ominous that night. I have to say I wasn't tooo worried about being stranded, but I had a huge job the Monday after we got back that I was very worried about missing! (I made it, although I was terribly sick for it, not much better!)

I'm afraid I am sitting here laughing at your expense picturing you hanging up on your mom, ordering a drink, chugging it, and then grabbing a bartender by the collar!

And no, I won't tell Stacy about the shoes but you ARE posting this on the internet. :rolleyes1 They are really cute shoes though. :goodvibes

That is pretty much what I did. You forgot the part where I climbed up onto the bar to get to him though :rotfl:
I'm sure if Stacy & Clinton were checking up on me they would have already nabbed me for a picture of shoes I bought last year (shiny heels...in DIS lime green).

I've been hearing so many good things about Basin. We'll have to check it out thoroughly when we go back. The soap is a nice and practical souvenir for someone.

Tucker Bunny looks very cute in the ears!

I LOVE practical souvenirs - I am not one for knick knacks - the soaps are so perfect. And Tucker always looks so cute - last year she was a clown for halloween, and she also dressed up like a reindeer for Christmas! :cutie:

I love your imagined death bu hurricane at the Rainforest Cafe. :lmao:

What a pretty teacup.

I tend to get an overactive imagination when I am nervous  I love the teacup, in fact I am drinking blueberry tea out of it right now!

omgoodness, cliffhangers plus! You've made me very excited for DTD! i love the stuff from Basin! Excellent update and YAY! for Sundays off!

I am already looking forward to next Sunday! It feels like I just got home and I am already about to go to bed. I want to get up extra early tomorrow and try and vote before I go to work. I am hearing horror stories about 5+ hour lines :scared:

 Up Next! Up when? Up now? Ahhhhh!

you are so much fun to go to WDW with,

thank you so much for sharing your trip!

Thank you so much! I hope to get another update up within the next couple days. I know you are all so anxious to hear about my early morning surprise!

I love the shoes. whatever Staci. AND the teacup! so cute! AND I'm so getting one of those coffee scoops when we go back, never seen that.

I have never been in Basin before...I think I might have to now! I'm learning all kinds of things from you!

I hope there were not problems w/resort delivery to WL. We did it a few times and had no problems! Please don't tell me about any flaws w/my dear Wildnerness Lodge...

I just finished reading all 31 pages and I have to say that I'm loving:love: your TR.

I stayed at the GF the end of August and also discovered Basin. What a great store! Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, there are no Basin stores here in Staten Island either.

I can't wait for your next installment. Did the hurricane hit?? Did your boyfriend arrive (thinking that the hurricane may have grounded his flight  )

Also, if anyone knows when the What Not To Wear episode might be repeated, please post it here on this thread, as I have never seen it (I've seen the show once or twice, just not this episode)

Looking forward to your next update :thumbsup2

Karen :)

On September 2, I woke up early – around 6:45AM. I don’t remember if I set my alarm early to have some quiet time to myself, or if I just naturally woke up – it’s probably the former as I am NOT a morning person. Not even at Disney World.

I made some green tea and sat out on the balcony, listening to my ipod and staring at the greenery. Pink, Promise Ring, the Pocohontas soundtrack – my ipod was stuck on the P section.

At one point I thought I saw something move out of the corner of my eye, but thought little of it.

Suddenly, something lands in my hair.

About the size and weight of a baseball filled with cement. Except unlike a baseball, it did not simply strike me and fall away. It stayed in my hair and started moving around.

And before I had the time to gasp, this THING jumped off my hair and landed on my arm.

And before I had time to move, this THING jumped off my arm and landed on my naked thigh.

Obviously the last thing on my mind was pulling out the camera, so here is an approximate sketch thanks to Google Image Search:

A big, fat, adorable frog.

I did what any sane person would do when confronted with Kermit’s cousin hippy-hopping all over their bare flesh at sunrise. I screamed my freakin’ head off.

Froggy took off! I leapt to my feet and did some hopping around of my own. I opened the door to our room with the intent of running inside to safety, but was confronted with that darn curtain. I got all twisted up in it and finally broke through to stumble onto my face into our lovely hotel room.

Jakkie was sitting up in bed staring at me. Did I mention I was still screaming?

After a moment, I remembered something about myself. I like frogs. I love frogs! Lizards, frogs, toads, even some of your tamer snakes – I love them all. Because this part of the TR is skimpy on pictures, I’ll treat you one of my beloved Beep Apollo, my pet lizard from summer ’06 (some girls buy shoes when they get dumped…I bought a lizard. And a bicycle.)

So I got down on my hands and knees and crawled back out onto the balcony. “Here froggy, little froggy. Come back sweet froggy, I’m sorry I yelled. You just startled me.”

Froggy never came back. I was bummed. I love frogs, and what could be more magical than a DISNEY frog? Maybe it was this guy!

I gave up and went back inside, cursing myself for overreacting. We turned on the TV to learn that Hurricane Hannah had been downgraded to a tropical storm, and was now expected to lean to the east….skipping Orlando….going straight north.

Through Virginia (where my parents live) and Pennsylvania (where I live). Gee, good thing I didn’t end my trip early and go home.

I called my mother to gloat, but she did not answer. So let’s get on out of this room and go to a park!

We were out the door by 8:30a and off tooo…

The plan was to beeline to Toy Story Mania, which I had never ridden. We had to leave by 4pm to get back to the hotel for Jakkie’s Magical Express Bus ( ), so I was hoping there would be fastpasses left. But along the way I was stopped dead in my tracks by the sighting of two jovial fellows goofing around near the Big Hat. Because one of those guys happened to be my SECRET BOYFRIEND. And I insisted we stop for a picture.

And as we ran up, they grabbed us and we began dancing and now I am dancing with my SECRET BOYFRIEND and I am oh so happy.

(Did you note how Jakkie is being yanked around by Dale in that first picture? :rotfl: )

OK, anyway, finally, we’re headed this-a-way.

IMG_5086.jpg

Oh we COULD fastpass this, but why ever would we when there is only a 10 minute standby line?

…that felt like 100 minutes, but at least we got to check out the neat theming in this line.

I took a whole bunch of pictures of Jakkie with the candyland pieces at her request. Apparently Jakkie loves, loves loves candyland. And this is what I love about Disney World – the chance to travel with my dearest loved ones and learn deep, insightful things about them that I may never ever have found out otherwise.

But more importantly, I won!!

I loved this ride. Something about smashing all those plates was extremely satisfying.

Coming up: Towers of Terror! Rollercoasters of Rock! Dollars of 4!

Oooh I would love to stay at the GF someday. Actually I would love to stay at all of the resorts eventually. Although I really kind of just want to go back to the Beach Club over and over again!
The story of Jack's arrival is kind of funny. That's coming up...soonish!
Thanks for reading, I'll let you all know if I find out the show will be on again - although most of the time when I know it's going to be on, it's because someone on the DISboards told me

I love the shoes. whatever Staci. AND the teacup! so cute! AND I'm so getting one of those coffee scoops when we go back, never seen that.

The coffee scoop is so cute and I don't think it was even that expensive. Maybe $6? And definitely check out Basin, but don't blame me if you end up spending an entire paycheck on bath fizzys (like I wanted to!)
There really weren't any problems with resort delivery to WL but there was something odd that happened when I went to pick it up....you'll have to stay tuned ;) Heehee.

Yikes that frog would have freaked me out too if it just randomly landed on me. I had a similar but much nastier wildlife freak-out on my trip. :rolleyes1

I love the pictures of you guys dancing with Chip and Dale, adorable!

Hi, wandered over from Punkin's TR. I was intrigued by your title and have read almost all of this TR. Very fun.

How excitting and wonderful it must have been to be on What Not To Wear. I have always thought they are too hard on people, but they do give great advice. I laughed because I get teased for my Disney bags ALL the time. I actually have the Mickey one they threw out. I probably have about 20 Tinkerbell ones. (she is my Alice) They couldn't get me to part with any of them. I think only true Disers get how special these things are to us. I don't have an Alice bag but I thought it was cute. You really did look very pretty after your makeover. I liked the sassy new haircut. I hope you bought the red shoes. Do they let you keep the make up?

I love your cat's name. I have two cats and they hate when we go away. I have to live with thier snooty behavior for a few days and then its back to normal. Did you find any cat treats while at WDW?

I am going to get all caught up and I look forward to the next update. :ccat:

Wow! A 10 minute wait for TSM. That's impressive. :thumbsup2

I love frogs too but I still would have freaked out if one landed on my head. :lmao:

No worries, I too would have freaked out at something landing in my air and moving around...that is just crazy LOL even if it is just a frog LOL

Great update!! I can't wait to hear more about your trip!! 10min TSM...that is amazing share some of that pixie dust with me for my trip!!

The entire resort would hear me screaming if a frog landed in my hair!!!!

10 min wait for TSM?? :woohoo:

This was the funniest way to start my day!! I too love frogs but if one jumped on my head, I would react in exactly the same way!!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh we COULD fastpass this, but why ever would we when there is only a 10 minute standby line?

I can't believe you didn't get there first thing in the morning and there was only a 10 minute standby wait! in June, the standby line was already and hour at 9:30. At one point during the afternoon, we saw standby times at 150 minutes :scared1: I'm sorry, I can't imagaine waiting 2 1/2 hours for ANY attraction!

We only did TSMM as fastpass so we missed most of the queue themeing. It looks like a fun line.

Spent the last hour reading the whole thread-- sounds like you had an amazing time, despite the Frog Incident of '08. I probably would have passed out and concussed myself on the railing.

Can't wait for more!

Oh, and I am holding you personally responsible for any overly large purchases made at Basin when I go in Feb!;)

Thats crazy that a frog just up and landed in your hair! I totally would have done the same thing and freaked.

I can't wait to do Toy Story Mania in December. I'm going to be running over little children to get there at rope drop! :rotfl: (just kidding people, I would never run at WDW).;)

Hi again, I'm feeling a bit under the weather today so I stayed home from work. I finished catching up on your TR, it's great so far.

I would love to have a girlfriend who likes WDW, to have a girls trip. No such luck. At least my DMom and DD8 share in my love of Disney and don't mind going. My DS14 has said he doesn't want to go next year, I have decided it's going to be okay if I leave him behind. Sad mom...

I went on Ebay this morning...and I found the red Alice bag you had taken away from you. I really liked the colors and sequins, (sorry Staci) I may have to add it to my collection.

I am planning on going to WDW next year, last week of August and I am worried about hurricaines too. I want to get free dinning but I wonder if I should risk it. Last year we went the first week of Sept. and the weather was great. I wonder if I should take my chances again. I keep second guessing myself between May and August so I havn't made reservations yet.

Wow, a frog in your hair. I would have jumped too. I am affraid of snakes and I've heard of people seeing them at their front door. I always send DS out the door first. ;)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So cracking up out loud at the frog story!

Great update! Can't believe the wait was so short for Toy Story Mania! Lucky girl you are!

Oh my goodness! That frog! I think I would have continued running, straight into the shower, to wash off all the frog residue! I think frogs are cute from a distance. But up close and personal, no way!

The pics of you and Jakkie dancing with Chip and Dale are SOOOOOOOO cute!
