What non dairy ice cream options on board?

We are cursing soon. Our 2 year old has started to outgrow her milk allergy and is doing very well. She can have most foods with minor amounts of milk in it no problem, even some cheeses. The thing is she isn't tolerating ice cream, but loves frozen snacks.

Does anyone know what kind of non dairy frozen treats are available on the boat. I know most sit down places have soy ice-cream. I was wondering about places like goofy's gallery, scoops, snack type places. She loves popcyles, sorbets, icees, things like that too. Just wondering if she will be able to grab something too when big sister gets ice cream.

What about on castaway cay?

No sorbet, they can make it, if they want. For my last cruise in 2006. I had hard time getting it made. I would request anything she wants on your medical request form and also call in and have it noted on your reservation.

For the island, you have to let them know what you want ahead of time. Last year they specifically asked if I would dine at Parrot cay since they have to transport food from the ship to the island.

I always got fruit from goofys, I don't think they have dairy free desserts. Ask your head waiter of guest relations on the ship.

Are there really no dairy free desserts at all? My DS has recently been diagnosed with some food allergies and we have him on a dairy free diet. It would break my heart to see him not be able to have any dessert the entire week. I guess the whole family will be going without desserts as well if that is the case.

I hope that isn't the case. I know we did ok at WDW. For dessert she often had soy ice cream (at any sit down place.) When her big sister had a Mickey bar, she had a isacadozy popcycle. There are a lot of non dairy frozen treats out there. Most baked good did have dairy in it. We carried dairy free chocolate chips and other treats like Jelly beans for her when ever her sister had a dessert.

We avoided cold stone creamery for a year since DD couldn't eat it. Then I found out they carry a few lines of dairy free sorbet.

I was hoping that the cruise line would have more dairy free treat options, why I asked the question. I can let you know when I get back since we will be sailing before your trip trip.

How is your son doing? My dd is doing very well. I am torn between not making an issue of the whole non dairy thing and filling out the medical forms, and just avoiding major sources of it. Our lives are really so much more easier now that she can have minor amounts.

My son has a dairy allergy also. I was disappointed with the dessert options available, basically none except they offered him jello. Seems like sorbet is something they should have available but didn't. We did a cruise on RCCL, and they did have sorbet.

Well not only is DS allergic to milk but also to corn and so that even eliminates a lot of the dairy free stuff - even Jello. I am really, really, really hoping he can tolerate at least a little bit of the corn stuff before our next cruise which is not until Dec '08 but I was really hoping they would do more in the way of providing dairy free items.

DisneyPhD - DS is doing much better since we changed his diet. The itchy rashes have disappeared, he is sleeping better and his behavior is much improved. He really is handling it quite well although it is still hard on him to miss out on so much at his age. He handles it far better than could be expected but every now and then he gets pretty upset. It is hard as the parent to see him that upset over this. Birthday parties, holidays, vacations, etc.. just become sources of disappointment for him. For instance for Easter DS was disappointed that he couldn't have any Peeps. We didn't buy any at all this year for any of us because we didn't want to make him feel worse. We had a candy free Easter - we just got party favor type stuff and stickers to put in the plastic eggs.

It sounds like you guys are handling this well. That is what we did with our family, but I had to accept her allergies as my own because she was breast feeding. It was really good for me. I lost 20 lbs I really needed to that way.

I am can understand why that made you so happy. Last week we had Kindergarten registration and they tried to make it fun for the kids. They had a big table with cookies on it and of course people kept offering them to him and he had to keep telling them he was allergic but of course everytime he had to say that it just made it harder. I know people are not trying to make him feel bad and they could not possibly know but it would be so nice to not have to worry.

The corn syrup thing is a real killer because it eliminates so much. I get so frustrated at the grocery store picking up items and 95% of the time they have corn syrup in them. I think we are going to start introducing a few things like dextrose and malodextrins back in his diet to see if they will cause a problem. At least that would help with a few things but I am afraid the milk and corn syrup avoidance is here to stay for a while.

The sit down Restaurants on ship will help you 100%, they definitely have soy ice cream and jello. Again I recommend using the form so that your request are noted.

Regarding the non resturant locations such as goofy's and scoops. I'm not sure if that non dairy desserts could be made available again you'd have to check with your head server or guest services on ship.
