What music do you want played at your funeral?

Only Imagine
Amazing Grace
When the Roll is Called Up Yonder
Thank You for giving to the Lord
Healing Rain
Jesus Loves Me
Never Walk Alone

And they all better be signed as well as sung

If it could only be one song it would be Jesus Loves Me Or Only Imagine

I don't really want a funeral, but if there is any kind of wake (I'll leave that up to my survivors) and I had to pick a song, I would probably say "The Old Rugged Cross" sung by Steve Green

I don't want a funeral, I don't want to be buried, I don't want any of that. Too much money spent on something completely unnecessary in my mind.

Me neither. You can play whatever you want at my funeral. If you want hints, look at my most-listened-to list from my iPod - Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake?!

"Another one bites the dust"...

:lmao:

I thought about this a few years ago when a friend died and I came up with this. I want them to start off playing Highway to Hell by AC/DC, they stop it and who ever is residing over the service to read a note I have written and then start playing My Way by Frank Sinatra. I want everyone to have one last laugh on me!

I like it! Now that will bring down the house BUT it will also make everyone a little uncomfortable (HIghway to Hell). While I would never do it I can just see the people I know at my wake if I played it. LOL!! They say you do come back to view your funeral and wake before you completely cross over.

I better see a good crowd or I am coming back to haunt them all!

And She Was

Hey!

And she was lying in the grass
And she could hear the highway breathing
And she could see a nearby factory
She's making sure she is not dreaming
See the lights of a neighbor's house
Now she's starting to rise
Take a minute to concentrate
And she opens up her eyes

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was
and she was

And she was drifting through the backyard
And she was taking off her dress
And she was moving very slowly
Rising up above the earth
Moving into the universe
And she's drifting this way and that
Not touching the ground at all
And she's up above the yard

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
(Hey, hey)
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was

Hey, hey, hey

She was proud about it... no doubt about it
She isn't sure about what she's done
No time to think about what to tell him
No time to think about what she's done
And she was

Hey hey, hey hey, hey!

And she was looking at herself
And things were looking like a movie
She had a pleasant elevation
She's moving out in all directions
Oh, oh oh

Hey hey hey (repeated..)

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
Hey, woo hoo
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was
Hey, hey

Joining the world of missing persons and she was
Missing enough to feel all right and she was

Ha ha
And she was
(repeated..)

My dad said to put down "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" for his ex-wife's funeral song.

I've always said I wanted "One Particular Harbor" by Jimmy Buffett.

Then after the funeral, and everyone goes back to the house....I want "Piece of Work" also by Jimmy Buffett....it's my personal theme song.

I am going to be cremated, so there will just be a memorial service. I want upbeat music, including "Order My Steps" and "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah".

I don't really care. Funerals are for the living - whatever helps them tell me goodbye is fine - even if it is a good riddance song. lol

I could not agree more! I'm actually not a person who has any religious afiliation but if Amazing Grace makes my family feel better then have at it.

Given my choice though, I'd like "In My Life" by The Beatles and "The Long and Windiing Road" by The Beatles. I can't say why but both have always spoken to me in that way. When I was making my funeral arrangements (back when we thought I would die soon :rotfl: ) that's what I listed as my preferences. Along with a comfy pair of flannel jammies to wear :thumbsup2

I can honestly say that I have never really thought about it. I do know my husband wants bagpipes playing at his. Since he is a firefighter, I'm sure they probably will be playing, I just hope that day is a looooooonnng time away.

Homeward Bound --Simon and Garfunkel
In My Life--The Beatles
Good Riddance--Green Day

I'd have bagpipes for DH, also a firefighter and an MC Scot. The song will be Amazing Grace. If he dies first this will be for DD and myself. He probably would not choose it.

For myself (and I plan to plan my whole funeral out very soon because ya never know and I want more thought to go into it than DH would put into it ;) ) I want to be cremated and have the receiving of friends at my church. I want the choir to sing as loud and fast as they'd like "Goodbye World Goodbye" I love that song and I want it sung lively at my funeral, 'cause baby I'm going HOME!

I'd like my favorite song sung by a guy at my church named David. The song is, "He's Everything To Me". He can have the choir come in on the chorus if he'd like.

I also want "We Go On" from Epcot's Illuminations. That is my all time favorite Disney song and says exactly what I want it to say because life does go on for those left behind.

During the receiving of friends, I'd love for my Disney music from Dan Murphy to be played in the background (CDs). Not sure if that'd be a go at the church but that's what I'd like. :)
