I'm trying to decide between late August or late October 2017. Trying not to pull kids out of school. But how are crowds and weather? It seems I have alot to consider if I want to bring kids on vacation.

I have been to WDW in late October 5 out of our 6 trips (the other was at Christmastime), and it is my favorite time of the year at Disney! Popular rides will always be crazy, but crowds are low for Disney at this time of year, excluding Halloween Party nights that are close to actual halloween. The weather is typical florida, HOT. 3 of our years we had record breaking heat in the 100s, but usually just upper 80's and 90's. The fall decorations are just beautiful, and its fun to see some of the characters in costumes as well. I would highly recommend it!

I live here so let me give my 2 cents for what it's worth. Your profile doesn't say where you are from but I'll assume you've never been in FL heat in August.
I am an AP holder but I will not go to WDW in July or August cause it's just TOO HOT. The humidity levels are sky high and temps are in the upper 90's. If you decide you want to do Aug be prepared for un-Godly heat & humidity. It also will likely rain everyday between 3-6pm. Not for long but everyday. T-storms too so bring ponchos. Crowds are fairly moderate to high because it's the last hoorah before school starts.
Late Oct is still hot but you can get some more pleasant days towards the end of the month. Expect those afternoon T-storms but they start to wind down by this time of year. Crowds can be high on Halloween party days but they are usually fairly moderate to high that time of year.
August is hotter than Oct but late Oct will yield temps in the lower 90's to high 80's.

Thanks for your comments. I have been to DW in late September about 6 years ago and it was warm but I really loved seeing the Halloween decorations. So I will probably stick with October.

My vote is for October as well . August is just too hot ! There's no way you can spend the whole day in any of the parks . The heat just zaps you . The Halloween decorations are so delightful even if you don't do the Halloween party .

I vote August

...because I already have a trip booked for October and want to keep the crowds low.:rolleyes1

I used to only go when my kids.. had breaks.. but this year I am going in Sept…. only now because of work.. but I would have to say.. the best time would be between late Sept and mid Oct… you get the F&W and MNSSHP….but lower crowds… and hopefully less humidity and heat..

Well my decision is made. October it is. Can't wait to share DW with my grandkids. I seriously LOVE visiting and look forward to planning my trip.

I go every year on the last week of August. I work in a school so I do not have the option for October. It is hot but the rides and the dining areas are all air conditioned. Plus we always get free dining pixiedust:
