What Means "Ay, Caramba?"--Famous for Family of the Day!,Sept TR-Cape May HooRay 4/14

Those yucky starts make getting to Disney THAT much better, right?! Can't wait to hear what's next!

love the note on the door! i'd be ready to hit the road after that hotel too. what a bummer that it had not changed for the better!

cute picture of sawyer with his steak and shake hat on! I think they are always s....l....o....w. I only go though the drive through here if we have 20 minutes to wait.

can't wait for more!
They are always slow. Always. SnS was one of my first jobs, and even as one of the better ones, we were slow. But this one? You could see the cooks just sitting on boxes doing nothing, even after we'd ordered. And the waitress literally walked like she was in slow motion. She was in no hurry. We ordered as soon as we sat down, so I have no idea how they made us wait an hour!

Yeesh - that was not the best few days leading up to your trip! :scared1:

So glad you made it to WDW - and hopefully all will be a lot better from here on out. :thumbsup2
No, it definitely was not.
And spoiler alert: it was A LOT better :thumbsup2.

Great update! I think we all need to remember that although Disney is an escape from reality, reality never really leaves us... Bad hotels, sickness, it can happen in the happiest of places. This I need to remember as my darling finger and thumb suckers (ugh, I can just see the disgusting micro-organisms entering their sensitive immune systems) go the the "world" in 228 days..

I can't wait to read what happens next!!! Seriously post now. Please.
We learned that the hard way in 2011 when every single one of us came down with the worst stomach virus in history! But I guess it was a blessing in disguise, because we learned to really go with the flow.

I still freak out when my darling children put their fingers near their face/in their mouths, though...that's just welcoming a sickness back! But I will go ahead and tell you that this trip was just fine from this point on ;).

Yeesh, sorry you had such a bad experience at that hotel for the night. But hey, now you can move on to writing about the fun stuff!
Exactly! The yucky is over!

Wow...what bad luck...hopefully that is the last of it.
Spoiler: It was the last of it. :thumbsup2

Yay! How weird you updated right as I was typing up my update with our dismeet! :cool1:

Eck, glad you guys got to Disney property all safe and sound and bug free! I haven't heard of the place you stayed at but it certainly doesn't sound like a very good place!! The Quality Inn and Suites just off Sherberth is fantastic and has free hot breakfast, for future trips:thumbsup2 Lol. Glad things were already looking better!!
WEIRD!! Thanks for the tip! This place used to be good with a hot breakfast. If we need a one night stop again, we'll try out your suggestion!

Subbing! Not sure if I've come across your previous TRs (I'll totally be checking them out!) but I'm here for this one. :)
:welcome: Thanks for joining!

Yay for the first update! And double hooray for the awesome call out! We're so glad to have you guys as friends as well (obviously)!

I remember this entire week, and the fact that we were flying on Wednesday as that all happened, and Danielle turning around and telling me what was happening as we flew. I felt so bad for you, but I'm so thankful everything turned out ok!

I really hope their reactions to the early departure end up in the trip video...

UGH! The horrible hotel! Seems like it was a terrible night all the way through, but Julia's sign says it all. Disney World was so close!

The sign! There is nothing better than passing under it for the first time.

And I think I know what's coming up next! YAAAAAY!!!!!
Their reactions will definitely make the cut! SUCH EXCITEMENT!
It was horrible. I know we told you about it that afternoon, but now you know the full story. Horrible.
You may or may not be showing up very soon ;). Okay, just kidding. You are. But you know that.

HOOOOOOORAY! An update! And I'm one happy lady to be reading it!

I am so glad your back turned out to be okay! It's NEVER fun throwing out your back, ever, so thank goodness it ended up being okay and you got a shot/that lady helped you out!

But dear LORD, that place gave me the heebie jeebies! I would have run out of the hotel room and slept in the car if I saw those bugs. I'm with Brynn, I HATE bugs, ugh. They're terrible. :| And Matt doesn't deal that great with bugs either, so basically, when there's something that need to be killed/dealt with, we both argue back and forth who has to deal with it (usually I win that conversation, hahaha).

BUT THANK GOODNESS you were on your way to Disney World the next day, because I know a couple of people who were extra excited for your arrival. :thumbsup2
It was disgusting. I think it really added to us not feeling comfortable enough to sleep. I just kept feeling them crawling on me.
We were possibly a little excited to see you:banana:.

Yikes, what a yucky start! That's why I love staying on property, you can always expect great quality. I am glad you made it under those gates, where everything is perfect!
Precisely. We were so happy to be heading onto Disney property. And everything was immediately perfect!

Ah palmetto bugs!! One of the many things I don't miss about our 18 months if Florida living! There's almost just no getting around the bugs. I will say that I love disney for all the bat boxes and such they do to help with Mosquitos as I am allergic.

At least the yucky/changed hotel was only one night. But no sleep isn't always the best way to start a Disney trip! At least it gets better pretty much the second you see that sign. I never got the thing with the sign, but then in September bringing the kiddo for the first time, I had the slight tears everyone talks about. I just knew she was going to love it as much as we do and was so excited for her to see everything. Now I get it.

Did you do more of your room organization stuff this trip? Just curious, though I'm sure you'll get to that part. I am jealous of your getting to bring the plastic tubs because of driving. We drove from Michigan to southern NC this summer, and next time, no luggage. If only Rubbermaid made some sort of awesome bins for checking with the airlines. Maybe there's a product/idea there?
I kept reminding myself that they are always around FL, but then I remembered that none of our Disney hotel rooms every had them:rolleyes:.
We were in our happy place as soon as we drove under that sign, and all was well.
That is a GREAT IDEA! You could make millions!:cool1: And yes, I did my organizing! Pictures coming up.

There is nothing worse than the feeling of getting sick or hurt the week of vacation departure. Such a horrible feeling wondering if it'll pass in time.
I'm glad the grandmother yogi could help speed up you feeling better. I know Dani and Matt are great friends to have when having a meltdown!

I'm so glad you surprised the kids by leaving early! So fun!

What a stressful hotel experience! :sad2: At least seeing that WDW arch makes it all better!
Ugh, I know. It was the worst. And, yes, Dani and Matt are just all kinds of wonderful.
That arch flipped the switch, and we were immediately happy and energized!

Here is hoping that your Disney Stay was magical pixiedust: Looking forward to reading all about it!
It really was! Thanks!

I had a feeling you were updating last night Jenn!!! I just couldn't stay awake!

Stinks about the hotel changes- but atleast you slept for....25 minutes?? Lol

Can't wait to hear about all the magical pixie dust coming your way !!
YOU GET ME!!
Yeah, look at the positives! 25 minutes is better than nothing, right?:headache:

wait a second- How did you get to leave a day early- wasn't Julia going to miss "Instructional learning time"?!?!?! :rotfl:
Hahahaha, you remembered! We actually cleared missing Friday with her ahead of time. We were going to leave during the school day on Friday, and I guess since she's older now, she was fine with ditching school :rotfl:. We know her well enough to know we shouldn't spring something that important () on her without notice!

I sub'd to your TR last week, but I just watched the video in your siggie today and--wow! You captured everything we love about Disney--all of the magic! Your kiddos are adorable! Can't wait to read more!
I'm so glad you liked it! Brandon and I are working on our new one each night now. We have about three times as much footage this year to sort through!

OK you've piqued my interest... what kind of billboards do they allow in South Georgia??! Georgia hasn't exactly made our US itinerary (I tried to convince DH that I neeeeeeded to do the Gone with the Wind tour but he vetoed), but now I feel I need to see them!

I'm glad you got all the ickiness out before your trip started in earnest :-) We had a trip like that when my youngest was one, including being discharged from pediatric ward 4 hours before our red eye flight :-)
It's an interesting mix of anti-abortion ads that are sometimes graphic, church ads about going to Hell, and half-naked ladies on signs for strip clubs. Let me just go ahead and tell you that while north Georgia is absolutely gorgeous and worth a visit, south GA can be skipped. No offense to people from there...but, yeah.
He vetoed the Gone with the Wind tour!?!?!:scared1::lmao:

Note to self.....stay away from that hotel!!:crazy2: I am glad you are on your way to the World now, and leaving all that crazy behind!! :yay:
That's why I posted pictures. STAY. AWAY. See, I've helped someone now. My day is complete.

Oh goodness, what a rough couple of days leading up to your trip! I'm with you - I have no shame either, especially when in pain! I'm glad that grandma was able to help you out!

So sorry your hotel stay was so rough that first night. I hate it when good hotels change brands and begin to suck. I'm glad you survived it at least! The getting there is always the hardest it seems!

Ahahaha, "Picture It"... Love Golden Girls!! :lmao:

Holy, what a story and you hadn't even arrived yet. Sorry about your back, but so glad to hear it was better before leaving.

YIKES to that hotel experience. A lot of the hotels on the 192 have been dumping the free breakfasts, which I find strange. And that level of service (or lack thereof) is inexcusable. What an awful experience. I do love that little note on the door though. Adorable!!!

Ahhhhh, then to finally drive under that sign with the angels singing and the harps playing... Pure Bliss!! :lovestruc

I've never posted to your TRs before but officially love them! Your pictures are gorgeous! Definitely subscribing to this one.

No kids of my own yet but I have to tell you, reading about your family makes me so excited to take my kids to WDW one day! And considering I will raise them on Disney everything, they better love it as much as I do! :thumbsup2

Oh and if you ever need a WDW mother's helper...I'm totally available...:rolleyes1

I'm a little late, but I'm subbing! I really enjoyed your last TR and cannot wait to read about your family's latest adventure.

That stinks that you had such bad luck getting there. I hope things get better (judging by that Family of the Day picture, I'm sure they do) :teeth:

I feel for Brynn. I'd be screaming if I saw those bugs in my room too :crazy2:

Yikes those bugs sound horrendous, we don't have big bugs here so we'd be pretty freaked out too :rotfl:

The service at that hotel was terrible, what is up with people?!?!

More, more!!! Your family makes me smile!! I lurked :cool2: through your last report & video, & loved them both.

An update! And even better....an update I'm reading from WDW!!!

I'm glad to know that Steak and Shakes are slow everywhere. We have one by my house and it always takes forever.

That hotel...yikes. I would have marched down to the front desk and at least demanded free breakfast. And then probably called the corporate number to complain anyway. But I also graduated with a degree in hotels and lodging, so I have absolutely no tolerance for things like that. I know how it's supposed to be and I know that generally they have the power to fix it.

I'm glad you're back was ok too!!! That must have been absolutely horrible for two days not knowing how it would be.

I have a bad back too....Now send her my way!!! Lol.

I will always drive straight to Disney and will not stay in Orlando now. Thanks for the update. Now starts the Magic once you passed the arches. Can't wait to hear more!

That was pretty entertaining for a first "travel day" update! Glad the bad stuff hit early and thanks for the 'spoiler' that it's uphill from here. We had a horrible ending to our trip a year ago and I'm a little gun shy to go back. Glad to hear you have had a couple good trips since your 'sick' trip. I will have to go back and read that one and get the courage to try again! I'm very happy to get to follow another great trip and thank you for sharing!

Looking forward to reading! My second grade DD wants to be a director as well!! We're staying at ASMo in Nov! What did you think? Anything we need to do? Avoid?

Can't wait to read more!

I enjoyed your last TR and I'm looking forward to hearing about your newest adventure. We were there at the same time as your family! But we didn't make it to a single rope drop all week (we were sure close though) so we missed your moment of fame.

Your trip report has brought me out of hiding! It's my 1st ever comment and subscription...and I've been lurking for 5 years :wave2:. I've enjoyed all your trip reports and think your family sounds like too much fun! Thanks for sharing!

Brynn's reaction to the giant bug...awesome! My quirky-amazing 3yr old has that very reaction to flies . Summer is real fun.
