What makes people put the Calvin "whizzing" on Ford, etc on their cars?

I guess the one pick up stereotype I live up to is that BUSH/CHENEY sticker on the back.
Lol! But I do like the image of you in your pickup singing along with your favorite Ethel Merman CD.;)

So many aggressive, in-your-face and downright rude statements on bumper stickers these days. What's the point? Where's this entitled mentality coming from? (that's both rhetorical and not)

I can not stand them! Especially since I love Calvin & know he'd never do such a thing! :)

That's right! Calvin was just misunderstood.

The sticker seems to be a redneck thing around here

Speaking or stickers, have you seen the stickers for cars that look like bullet holes? Now those I just don't get.... :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I don't get it either. I certainly don't see why any single guy would have one, it's the biggest turn off, next to giant spoilers.

Or the mudflaps with the neked girlies on them..

Where I live these stickers qualify for an answer to this statement "you might be a redneck if........................"

Yes I have!!!! My neighbors have an (older) teenager who has a truck that he parks on the street. He's always working on the truck too. I can tell he takes pride in his truck. Well, one day I drove by and there were BULLET HOLES in the back of it!!!! I couldn't believe it. A few days later they were gone. A few weeks later, they were back again. Never once occurred to me that they were stickers. I did notice them one time when I was walking by and I could see that they were sticker. I swear to god the first time I saw them I thought they were real.

tacky tacky tacky

well usually it's a pick-up truck which also contains a big 3 sticker.

Now now, let's not give Earnhardt fans ALL the credit... I've seen a fair share on the Rusty Wallace trucks as well!

I'm not a big advocate of auto-advertising one's life choices, but I did see a sticker the other day that made me laugh. It was a tiny black square sticker with plain white writing -- nearly had to squint or ram their car bumper just to read it! It said,

"If life gives you lemons...
Throw them at someone."

OMG! I was going to mention this. My MIL has one on her car!!! I couldn't believe it. That has to be the stupidest one yet. She probably doesn't even know who Calvin is.
Praying is the stupidest one yet? More stupid than the urinating Calvin? I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Maybe you think religion is stupid, but it sure as heck is a more positive message than urinating on something.

From what I remember, Bill Watterson (sp?) stopped doing Calvin and Hobbes because of the pressure he was under to merchandise, or because he was appalled at the bootlegging. Or both. Don't know the facts for sure there.

Either way, praying or pissing, it is copyright infringement.

I agree--tacky.

People put a lot of things on their cars that seem tacky to me. I don't mind political statements but things that are just meant to offend or shock really bug me.
I saw a bumper sticker with the "F" word on it the other day.
Also, I don't like the little decal of the Christian fish symbol that has been turned into a footed creature that says "Darwin." Yes it's kind of clever but it's clearly intended to mock a particular faith. I don't like mocking of any kind.

Sometimes I think that people feel sort of anonymous in their cars (kind of like on the internet) and will put things on their cars that they wouldn't express to someone's face.

Speaking of clever...

I have never seen either of those calvin stickers! Are they just a down south thing?? I just think that all bumper stickers are tacky..why does someone want to mess up their car with a bunch of stickers??

It seems to be primarily a southern redneck thing. I've seen them for years with Calvin's evil twin doing his business on the Ford logo, the Chevy logo, various NASCAR numbers, even Osama Bin Laden.

Didn't the praying Calvin come out right after 9/11?

And the whizzing Calvin is alive and well here in the north btw...lol

I don't care where you live....you've got REDNECKS among you.
