My DS and I are staying at a WDW resort for the first time this year, Yacht Club. What makes it different from the Dolphin which is where we stayed last year?

Thanks
Kat

I'm bias because YC and BC are my favorite resorts. Never stayed at the Dolphin but I've visited it a lot. I think it's a lovely resort but we've just never tried it.

One difference is the pool - Stormalong Bay is the best pool on property. I don't think you get "Mickey" wake up calls there - but that's not a big deal. I'll bet there are no Mickey soaps or lotion. Again, no biggie. In fact, I'v heard the Dolphin and Swan have the best beds.

However, I love the theming of the Yacht and Beach Club resorts. That's why we haven't tried the Swan or Dolphin. With either you get the biggest perk and that's being in the Epcot Resort area.

There is an attention to detail that you find in Disney Resorts that you just don't get in the S/D. The decor is very authentic, thought out, and the hidden Mickey's are everywhere. The S/D are nice properties, but they really are just very colorful hotels - there is not thought to themeing.

Also, I find the serivce better at the Disney hotels. The S/D service is actually very good, so Disney's is even better! At least with my visits, I've found the CMs very eager to help and assure us a pleasant stay.

Oh, and of course, there ae the terrific Disney pools, which another poster mentioned.

Unless you are getting a terrific rate at the S/D, I would stay at a Disney property.

Disney resorts have spoiled me by allowing me to charge back to the room. I hardly carry any cash on me at the parks, no need too. Its also nice that now that my kids are teens that they can do likewise at the foodcourts etc. For me, that would be the biggest difference that would bother me.

Other than that I wish I knew what I found so appealing about the Disney resorts. I'm addicted to Disney and I'm trying to figure out why.
