I am not a Disney Visa cardholder. I chose not to sign up because I didn't see the benefits of having one. What made you sign up for the Disney Visa? Now if it was like the DC I would have done it in a heart beat. After reading all of these posts about the recent "Who gets the discount and who doesn't" has this issue turned you off and you are going to/have cancelled your account?

This thread is not intended to re-cap the running Visa package posts.

I joined for the Disney Reward Dollars. I know I can get a better reward with another card but I know that $ wouldn't go towards my trip savings! I know the Disney Reward dollars will be there for our trip next December- since I can't spend them anywhere else. I plan to use them for Cirque tickets or souviners.
I did not get it hoping for a special rate on rooms or anything like that- that's what APs are for!

I joined to take advantage of the Kids play free offer. I am also able to take advantage of the new room only rates.
The intrest rate on this card is high, so I do not carry a balance. I do charge about $1000 a month and then pay it off before 28 days (I aim at 20 days) so I will get a few Disney dollars without paying the intrest rate.

There is no annual fee and I do not have many open CC accounts, so there was really no reason not to get it.

Oh and no, I was not turned off by the new member offer. I prefer to be glad about the deals I did get than upset about what I did not.
Just call me Polyanna.

We were in the market for a new CC anyway. We wanted to try one with a rewards program since our old one didn't offer that. All the programs that give you frequent flyer miles are of no use to us since we never travel by plane. I know there are other rewards programs out there but we thought the same thing as jeankeri, that we would probably use those rewards elsewhere rather than save them for Disney trips. We were also Disney Club members and wanted something that might make up for the discounts we lost when the Disney Club was discontinued. We have been somewhat disappointed with the card but part of that has been because of our lack of knowledge about where we could use the card - we didn't know that there would be so many of our expenses that we either could not charge to the card or that would incur a service charge and earn no rewards points. So we haven't earned rewards dollars as fast as we had hoped. That's our own fault, tho - live and learn. We've also been a little disappointed with the types of discounts and specials that have been offered. This latest room-only discount is the first that we could use. But I'm willing to give it awhile longer before I go so far as to close the account. We don't like to jump around too much from one card to another because it can have a negative affect on our credit rating and I want to give this program more of chance before I give up on it.

I thought there would be more rewards than there have been. Like DS discounts (similar to the Disney club card). The Disney dollars are so slow to accumulate that we did better with our freq flyer miles card. I will call re: the Visa room only rate.......has anyone done this yet? What are the prices? Looks like it is similar to AAA.

We never carry a balance on our bank card (or any other credit cards) so the interest rate isn't really of any interest to us. Our old bank card did not give us rewards and we really thought it would be nice to have one that did. Unlike many other cards that want you to pay an annual fee to enjoy the rewards, the Disney Visa did not.

We have our next trip booked with the Disney Visa discount (under 9 free and $100 in Disney $) and we have earned enough Disney $ that we feel it will help us offset expenses on our next trip.

I got the disney visa for the same reason of having the dollars go toward my vacation. I use this card to buy my ebay purchases with, once I make the money from paypal..I zap it to my visa card. I do not ever pay interest as I pay it off each month. The rewards are very slow to earn though.

Well, I only just signed up and haven't actually received my card yet. But I figured it was worth the free $25 disney dollars to sign up and then if we charge our hotel and park hopper tickets we'll end up with some more disney dollars to spend! If we were not planning a trip to WDW I wouldn't have bothered but I figure it will be fun for our little guy to spend some fun money too!

I joined specifically for the Reward dollars. We put EVERYTHING on this credit card each month (& pay it off completely each month) so we rack up these dollars towards our vacation very easily.

It's really just another Visa card - a lot of them these days have some kind of reward attached. I worked for Visa International for many, many years and have had nothing but Visa cards for over 15 years. I don't EVER carry a balance so I don't care what the interest rate is.

What I look for:
What is the reward and could I use it? I think there is a GMC card out there and I have no use for that as I would not ever buy another GM car.

Is there an annual fee? - if there is - as on some airline cards - is it worth my while to pay the fee.

I have tons of airline miles (from my business travel) so I really didn't see the use in paying for an airline card. I had a Marriott card before the Disney one but I also have a lot of points piled up on that. I found that the Disney would be something that I would use and that it is pretty easy to redeem - unlike the airline and hotel rewards where there is often no availability.

Some people of course would prefer cash - I kind of liked having it as a little extra. When I got a check for cash it just went in the checking account and mixed in with the other funds.

I think there was a lot of confusion that the Disney Visa was the replacement for the Disney Club program which ended in December. The benefits outside of the Disney Dollars are not that big of a deal. I wouldn't pick the card on the basis of those benefits.

For me personally - since I do not ever carry a balance - I would NEVER use a card that did not provide some kind of a reward - if not directly to me then to a charitable organization that sponsors it.

I make decisions based on that kind of stuff too- glad I'm not the only one.
I think those room only rates look way better than the AAA rates- Contemporary for $159 american dollars- that rocks- moderates for $89, can't beat that with a stick.

Oh I forgot to mention that part. As I mentioned earlier I have a lot of Visa cards. Working for Visa I had lots of "different" cards including a Visa Corporate card ( which I called my Visa Visa) and had one of the original "chip" cards (had a computer chip embedded). I had one with a picture of Stanford (alumni card) when I lived in the Bay area.

No one EVER commented on any card EXCEPT the Disney Visa. Almost every time I use it someone will comment on how cute it is. Red is also my favorite color.
