Do you have a theme for your garden or yard? Is there different decorations, homemade items...to make your garden stand out?

I want to add more to our garden and yards. I love to put little signs around for the holidays, windchimes, windstocks, and garden spikes. I also have my Winnie the Pooh garden statue that I had gotten from my DH and daughter :goodvibes .

I have a wire dragon fly, Buddha and several Japanese style mini houses. (I forgot the actual name right now) Our backyard has a Asian rock garden theme.
Our front yard has the decorative flag, little 'welcome' signs, and the spring welcome mat. I haven't been to the Chirstmas Tree Shop yet this season-that is the place for cool yard knick-knacks! :thumbsup2

I don't really have a theme, but you may see a couple of frogs lurking under trees, or beside rocks and shrubs...AND I have quite a few black plants and flowers (they fascinate me).

A few years ago I started buying 1-2 lawn items during our family vacations. There isn't really a theme, as such, but by looking at each one, we all can remember the fun we were having on the trip! I'll be looking around WDW for just the right addition come June :woohoo: The Dollar General stores also carry a large variety of garden decor items, flags, gnomes, etc.--for a buck, who cares if they only last one season-- :smooth:

I have a Mickey Mouse statue, a lady bug on a stick and a rain gauge. But at different holidays there are additions. Like right now I have two wire Easter bunny cutouts!

So off topic, but everytime I see this title, I want to sing Knick Knack patty wack give the dog a bone... :confused3 :teeth: ;)

We live in the suburbs with covenants so we have to be careful with what we have in our gardens. We moved here in 2000 and it's about time we did something to it. :thumbsup2

Front yard is ordinary and conformist, but I have a Japanese theme going on if you come really close plus cement squares with the kids handprints plus imbedded marbles and stuff.

In our backyard I am starting a moon garden and will have an A frame swing right in the center.

I also have an area with the Alice in Wonderland statues from disneyshopping.com. My oldest dd who is now almost 15yo had a 1st birthday with the Alice theme and I told her that it be be wonderful if she decided to have the same theme for her 16th, but she said no. This is a nice compromise.

I also have an orchard with 2 pear trees and I plan to plant more.

I am building a garden in honor of my grandma (from Hilo) who died in 2003. She loved orange so I will have a memorial garden with all kinds of orange plants plus 2 apricot trees. When she visited us in WA state and here in VA she always was in awe of orchards and picking fruit off a tree.

I love black plants too! And toad lilies!

I tend to find pieces that will be overlooked and then make the person look twice to see their eye was tricking them. I love to put in silly statues (I have this huge hedgehog one under some foliage). I found some sparkly Christmas ornaments and hung them all over my oak trees. They are great conversation pieces.

In the Dayton Ohio area, many houses have a concrete goose at the door. Just south of here around Germantown, concrete lions predominate. We have a goose, but I don't dress it for the holidays like many other Daytonians do!

Bobbi

PS. I also have an ornamental young fawn, from my Hamilton NJ days, and an Easter bunny that was a gift from when we lived in Yardley PA.

I know they're kind of kitchy but I just love them! I have them in my front flower beds and I want to add some fairies to go with them. One of my gnomes is a girl and is just so ugly I can't help smile when I look at her!

For the backyard, I'm really hoping disneyshopping will clearance the Alice in Wonderland statues and I'll have a "Golden Afternoon" garden!
