Can anyone give me some ideas of things to include in 9 yo dd's gift basket (or sand pail) from The Perfect Gift?

Thanks!

Hi there-

I ordered my dd's gift basket through Shirley and I am so excited to see what it looks like! My dd is 3.5, so her tastes are slightly different than a 9 y.o., but here's what Shirley is doing for me... a purple beach pail with orange beach toys, a Minnie Mouse towel, a beach Barbie, coloring book & crayons, and some snacks. Just give Shirley a call and she'll work with you!!!! She'll ask what kinds of things your dd likes then make suggestions. I know my dd is going to be thrilled, and I am thrilled not to have to pack beach toys!

Have a wonderful cruise!!!

I ordered from Shirley for both of my kids (DS 9, DD 6). They both got sand pails/toys loaded with goodies (juice boxes, candy, snacks). She also added a message bottle, Mickey straw and a deck of Mickey cards for my son. They both enjoyed the snacks/drinks throughout the week and enjoyed playing with the large sand pails/toys at CC. I highly recommend these for the kids!

We did some "movie candy/snacks" in our kids basket. It was nice to grab something as you were heading to a show. But I would definately recommend more toy-type items because there is sooooo much food on board that is free it is sillly to bring some on board....unless your DD likes something specific...like skittles or a certain drink.

Remember one trick is to get free m&Ms from scoops. They use them as ice cream toppers, but get a bowl of m&ms and you have some show candy for free.

As for the basket - Shirley has this down to a science. Call her and she will give you some ideas based on your DD likes and dislikes. And then if you think of something later, she will be happy to change items.

We also did stuffed mickeys and glow-in-the-dark necklaces for the kids for the "slumber party" but I think that may be too young for your DD.

If you don't mind, can I ask about what the total cost for a beach pail basket with lots of "stuff" comes to? I'm planning to do the same thing for my DDs, would like to add their favorite snacks, maybe a balloon, etc. It sounds like we can do as much or little as we'd like, but I wanted to get a ballpark... thanks!

I was reading the posts on the gift baskets and I wondered what they are? Who is Shirley? and how would I get a hold of her? We're booked on the Wonder for June 26th 2005, I have 7 and 5 year old girls who would get a kick out of it. The cruise is a surprise for them.

Hey there - This is me (Shirley) - gift baskets can be made in all different prices - there is almost never duplicates of the gift baskets regardless what the gift container is - I take into consideration the age of the child, boy or girl, favorite colors etc in order to bring smiles to their faces - I allow the clients to send me stuff to add to their baskets to make them a little more personable (as long as it is just a few things) and its at no extra cost to add them in - I try to tell folks they don't want to overdo but have gotten in trouble more than one time especially if the child is very young - its not that I don't want to sell it to you, but I do think of your expenditures :teeth: and of course I never want anyone to ever feel that I overcharged them - the gift baskets do take a lot of time and materials but most of all it make sure everything is in the right place so that when the receiver sees it that it will make the giver feel "WOW I did do good" - anyhow thanks everyone for all the reviews - the only thing I can say is that my shop really tries to make sure you enjoy all that you receive.
Always
Shirley

Some fun items for girls are:

Glitter sunscreen
lipgloss
cute sunglasses
hair scrunchies or barrettes
brush or comb set
mirror
disposable camera or underwater camera for the pool
binoculars
bubbles for the sailaway party!

Have fun!!

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I think between all of your ideas and some of Shirley's, we have got a nice basket going. I saw in a spot on her site that she had mesh seashell collecting bags so I added one of those. DD is a serious shell collector!

As for the questions: Shirley is from the Perfect Gift, her email is snelsonbrown@aol.com and her phone number is 1800-950-4559. She will deliver the baskets right to your stateroom and have it waiting for you, or your kids. She'll put just about anything inside the basket or in my case, inside the sand pail!!

As for price, you can just tell her what kinds of things you want and tell her how much you want to spend and she will figure all of the small details. I gave her a $60 limit for my dd and I have no doubt that she will absolutely love it!!

I am interested in this. Where can I find her site? I have her e-mail, but I would also like to see some of the items.

The main thing Shirley puts in her baskets is "ATTENTION TO DETAIL". She appears to love every child she prepares for ... she is a unique person that loves her work - and it shows.
